So I have survived the first week, as far as I know, I still have one more class today. This semester I have:
BCHM 221: Analytical Biochemistry
BIOL 415: Intro to Molecular Biology
BIOL 495I: Reproduction Physiology
ENGL 309: Computer-Aided Publishing
PSY 240: Intro to Social Psychology
SPAN 202: Spanish
So, going into this semester, I had 3 classes that I couldn't remember what I had signed up for. And it's funny to find out that the English credit I signed up for is a design class using Adobe INDESIGN. He said it would be intense. Not sure if that is a good thing for my first time taking 18 credit hours, but I think I'll be able to handle it. All my professors seem really cool this semester and I really wouldn't know what to drop if I needed to.
I've been working at the bookstore a lot lately as a temp employee. They really need it during bookrush. Students get a bonus for working 25 hours between Monday and Wednesday, so that was tiring but fun. I even had time to take 2 hours off Tuesday night to see Mitch Daniels speak at Purdue. He was really down to earth and he was asking Elliott questions. I think he was pleased to find out that he graduated and stayed here for his job, since people leaving after college seems to be a problem.
We have so many new freshman, and they all seem really excited to be here. The beginning is always hard, because we'll have students that come and then decide that other things are more important, but I think this is going to be a really strong group. Last night a couple of them came out to Slayter Hill to watch Ironman, which was really fun, I'd never done that before.
We have a 3 day weekend so we're coming home tonight and I have to take Elliott to the airport tomorrow so he can go to Conneticut to work for the next 5 weeks. I know other people have done long distance, but I think maybe its harder for us since the first year of our relationship we saw each other every day. I'll just be ready for him to come back. I have stuff to get done up here, but I really want to go with my family to visit Emily at IU on Monday. Well I should probably eat lunch. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day :)
The only advice I have for being away from each other for an extended period of time is try to keep busy. It still is not easy but it makes the time go by a little faster. Hope school is going well. I will keep you guys in my prayers.
Sounds like some interesting classes! Parting is such sweet sorrow...you will survive, absence makes the heart grow fonder! Still working at the Barrel?
What a schedule!! I'm sure you'll handle it well. :)
Many years ago! . . . before you were even born! . . . Steve and I saw each other every day at FC. Then came the summer, I was in Missouri and he was in Kentucky. It was hard!
lol - it depends... Sometimes 9:30 or 10....but a lot of times it's closer to midnight... and at least once a week it's 2 or 3 am. :( Not good for someone who has always NEEDED 8 hrs of sleep!!! My alarm goes off at 5. :( I figure when the girls are grown & gone....then I can rest. There's just not enough time! I try to clean and do as much laundry as possible while they're sleeping. Plus cooking (these girls are little but boy do they eat!)... and now I've added in homeschooling... *sigh* Coffee is my best friend!
I got a C in genetics! With a 45%! Hardest class of my life. But it's over now. Warning to future college students: think twice before you study science at a research university. It'll look great on your resume, but it will be hard work!
So it's hard to believe I'm coming home tomorrow. I'm getting tired of Purdue (just the school, not the people), but it's really fun in the summer. It's more laid back. And you can concentrate on one class at a time. It'll be weird not being here for a couple months, since I've lived here for two years and I know that I'll live here for the next couple of years, Lord willing. It'll be good to live at home for the summer though, I regret not being at home as much while my siblings are growing up! We'll have fun :)
Good luck voting tomorrow, it's going to be interesting...
yep... Kevin has promised he will bring her back up this way... maybe not all the way to IN, but probably a compromise between IN and FL (like TN or so?). We are so happy for them! :)
I also think its funny that we watched Eli Stone last night which is about a lawyer with a brain aneurism that sees visions and in his vision, there was an earthquake in San Francisco. Well I don't know what I was dreaming last night, but I felt shaking and I woke up and my heart was racing, but the shaking must have stopped by then. So I was scared to death and I didn't know why. I told Elliott about it this morning and he was kind of laughing thinking I had dreamt about the show last night. Then he calls from work and tells me to look at the news. It's good to know that I'm not crazy! At least not completely.
