WOW! I almost forgot that I had this thing. Well, there has been so much that has happened since my last post. I've got a certification exam coming up in a couple of weeks. As you can imagine, I m not looking forward to it. O well, thats life. On the bright side, today is a day off form teaching which allows me chance to take it easy and not worry about 16 young minds that need direction. I will enjoy what is left of this day and live it like it is my last.
hey - good luck on your exam. i'm sure you'll do great. love your picture over there...looks like your healthy and happy. by the way, what's that car? does she have a name? miss ya!
Whats crack-a-lackin peeps! Not much with me......I guess. I have been busy preparing for my summer camp that I am in charge of. Although this is my third time doing this, i still fell swamped. In addition to that, i have to get ready for a few certification exams so that i can get hired on with the county. I guess it is not that bad neccessarily, but it just seems that way. Well, I am happy to say that I am doing much better since my night in the ER. It turned out that I had somthing known as a bronchical spasm. I still have a few breathing issues on occasion, but I hope that it will work itself out soon. Anyhow, that is what is new in my world. Sorry that I have not been on in a while....but I am now a graduate!
yeah, i thought of you the other day when someone was asking me if I'd heard a certain rendition of "Somewhere over the rainbow." didn't you sing that for me at spring festival? can you believe it's been 10 years?!
Hey Folks, Wow! it sure has been a long time since I have been on here. Well, just to catch you up on what has happened with everything, I have finished my internship. I believe the last time that I wrote, I was in my fourth week of my internship. Well some things happened at the school that I was interning at which involved a teacher becoming sick and led to me taking over her class until she was to returned. This past Friday, I taught my last lesson in that class. The teacher will return this coming Monday and will resume part of her duties. I ended up only having to do 12 weeks of my internship instead of the normal 15 because the principal at the school requested that I take over the class, which required that I become a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County. Now that I have finished substituting in that third grade classroom, I am now free to substitute anywhere in this county. In addition to all of that, I'm also preparing to graduate with my bachelors in education. On May 1. Boy! Things seem to keep me busy. I'm also in the process of creating and designing yet again another summer camp for Florida College Academy. I'm looking forward to this summer camp as it will be my last task to complete. Anyhow, I do apologize for not writing sooner, but as you can see my time has been consumed immensely. I guess the next time that I get on here, I will be a graduate..........finally!
want to know something funny - the other day i was listening to the radio (which i don't do often because usually my two year old wants to sing) and all the sudden i thought "man i would like to hear ira sing." i hope our paths cross soon. i miss your face!! take care.
oh Ira...I am beyond happy for you! And I totally understand how consuming everything is. So, are you planning on subbing for the rest of the school year? Like picking up jobs and what not? You should try to sub at my school!!! Speaking of that...I may ask you to sub for me sometime soon. Interested in that? My kids are really good! Hey...let me know if you need me to sub for anyone over the summer at FCA camp like I did last year. If I'm not at a training, I'd be glad to do it! :)
7 more days until graduation. Congratulations, Ira! It is so encouraging to see others follow through with their dreams, even if their paths may have taken longer than they originally planned. It helps me to see that if others have done it, I can too. Enjoy your summer!
Hey Ira! It was fun to see you at graduation! We're happy for you! Ryan says hi and thanks for the nice message you left him. We'll give you a call when we're both up there again. :)
Hello again folk, sorry that I have not been on here in awhile. I'm doing real good down here in Tampa still. The weather has been great, and so has my level 3 internship. The second graders that I'm working with right now are very busy. I've just finished my third week in this internship. This past week was a lot of fun, but a little tough as I was adjusting to teaching math and reading every day. As of Friday, I have acquired the other subjects which include writing, spelling, science, and social studies. I will admit that I'm a little bit overwhelmed, but I can do this. Once I get everything organized I know it will flow smoothly. From this point I only have eight more weeks to go of me actually being in charge of the entire classroom. Of course I will have to be observed a few times and then after that I will be finished as of April 26. As for everything else in my life, everything seems to be pretty good and I hope that it stays that way.
i bet you are a great and fun teacher. i sure would love for you to meet my two year old little girl. you wouldn't be able to stop laughing!!! she would love u as a teacher i'm sure! =)
Yeah! I'm glad your internship is going well. Where are you interning? I know you'll be a great teacher. It is overwhelming at first, but like you said once you get everything together it will go smoothly. :) Keep up the good work! Maybe we'll see you around at lectures.
IRA JOE! I didn't know you were on here! Welcome to PLEO...even though I'm obviosuly a little late. I'm glad your internship's going well. 2nd grade...whew! How did the Writing test go for your kiddos the other day? I am going to talk to Kim this week...well, I'm going to email her and see what she says. :) Have a great weekend!
What up Folks? The last time that I was on here, I was awaiting my grades from this past semseter. I did alright,( 3 A's and 2 B's). Today, I finished my first two days of my winter camp. We are open from 7:30am till 6:00pm everyday. Yesterday was pretty good. I decided to kick off with diffrent things, but my favorite activity that they did was finding the area of the room that we were in. There were about 17 kids there and they all had to take construction paper and interconnect them to form a chain. Before they began making their chains, we had them estimate how many rings it would take to figure the area. Well, kids are funny; we got estimations from 11 to 7,000. To challenge them, I told them who ever had the closest estimation would recive $5.00 from my secret stash. Today, Melissa, Randy, and myself, took the 19 kids that came today to see the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. It was a pretty good movie, even though I spent most of my time saying "SHHHHH" to some girls that just could not breath without talking. Overall, it was a good day after we made it to Dairy Queen. I think if I would have not had Melissa there with me, I would have lost all hope. She is awesome and I am lucky to work with such a wonderful person.
*tear* Thanks, Ira. Dude, you hold it together quite well. I am so blessed to be able to work with you. You know that place would fall apart if you weren't there. Though, I am all for running away after spring semester is over. LOL! Well, I hope to at least work 6 to 9 hours a week next year; we shall see. I had so much fun at the movies, despite the major sinus headache I got afterwards. I slept for 4-5 hours when I got home, so that got rid of it. Sorry those girls were keeping you busy during the movie. I didn't have any problems down at my end. Oh wella. Oh, btw, I got my new desk and bookshelf all set up and decked-out in my room. It's looking pretty spiffy! Thanks for that early Christmas present. I gave my brother my old desk, so that was his gift. :) I hope you have a peaceful holiday. Try and figure out what that word "relax" means. I plan to. :) See you in the new year!
