So, if you have not already heard, I was laid off this past week from my job at the automotive shop. It was quite a surprise, I am not going to lie. My very kind boss, was not happy about having to do it, so I tried hard to hold back the tears. Business has just been really hard on him, like most shops in the area are experiencing. I was next on my boss's list of things to go, so the shop wouldn't go under. I will really miss that place. The guys were so much fun to work with, making me laugh every day with their silliness. And even on our bad days, we found a way to cheer each other up. I can't wait to visit them next Friday, when I will pick up my last check. I must try to keep my awareness open through all this. Because even though I am sad about the way things happened, I know that there are people out there suffering more than I am; pray that things with the economy get better soon.
What's next on the agenda for me? Hmmm... Well, the way I see it, I have not accomplished very much with my life. And, so, I think I would like to go back to college and get my Associates for starters. The Technical College here has a very reputable program in Automotive Technology, and it is a two year Associates in an Applied Science. Automotive Technology is the only thing in my life that I have ever felt any drive for pursuing. I have done a lot of thinking these past few days about what my next move should be, and, honestly, I haven't a clue. How can you know? Really, I don't know why God gave me a wonderful job like the one I had, only to lose it three months in. What was the purpose of all that? And what does He want me to do next? Don't look at me. I don't know.
Does anyone besides me listen to John Legend? There was this album of his, Evolver, just taunting me in Starbucks for the longest time. I listened to a couple clips of his music on line and over my weekend in Milwaukee, I cracked and bought the thing. I must say, I absolutely love it. Very crooner-like style. Check it out:
Turkey Day! As much as I enjoy green bean casserole and mashed potatoes with gravy, it is Christmas that I look forward to. Where are the lights? We need lights up people! There seems to be a lack of them so far this year, and I am quite disappointed! Well, at least I have the radio to cater to my Christmas music needs. Haha.
@ms
How can I keep my soul in me, so that
it doesn't touch your soul? How can I raise
it high enough, past you, to other things?
I would like to shelter it, among remote
lost objects, in some dark and silent place
that doesn't resonate when your depths resound.
I often wonder what my next steps career & life wise should be too. Just a thought: maybe God wanted you to have the job just long enough to see how much you really enjoy that type of work as a kind of prodding in the direction your "next move" should be taken in? Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God,"
So sorry that this is happening. Ams, in my experience with knowing what God wants is that hindsight is 20/20. Don't bother figuring it out until after His will is done. Seek first the Kingdom and His righteousness. Today has enough troubles. All these things will fall into place. It is exciting to know when God is using you but I know that He expects patience when he is telling us to "Be still and know that I am God."
I read twilight!!! It was amazing! I loved it!! If you don't have the second book done with when I get home(which I doubt:) I'll have to go get me own!!
If I'm not able to get wireless at my aunt's in Decatur tomorrow, or use her computer.....HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! :) We love you lots!! Have a GREAT day!!!
Happy Birthday hon! I'm really sorry about your job, but just know that God has a plan for you, and whatever it is, it'll be good. Oh, and by the way, if I had the money or a place to keep it, I would totally buy your car. I love it!
We're over the hump! Not much to report lately. Except that right now I am enjoying a cup of Gloria Jeans coffee. Mmmm... Life is good.
Lord willing, I will be getting my own place again soon. I am so ready to live in a place that actually gets cell phone reception! And, that allows me to have a puppy. Any good ideas for places to get a puppy? Preferably, a small breed of dog; even though originally, a dalmatian was the plan *sniff*.
No luck selling the Mazda 3. It's getting discouraging... continuing to advertise and hardly any bites at all. Most of the bites I have gotten, are not serious takers. I don't know if it is the economy, the season, or the location, but I am having to entertain keeping it for the rest of the lease term.
We have a new President. Congratulations to Obama. Even though, normally I don't worry too much about politics; I still pray things will improve for the United States. Cause no matter who is in charge, God can use him to His glory. But I am glad I had a say. :)
Life inside the music box ain't easy
The malots hit, the gears are always turning
And everyone inside the mechanism
Is yearning to get out
And sing another melody completely
So different from the one they're always singing
I close my eyes and think that I have found me
But then I feel mortality surround me
I want to sing another melody
So different from the one I always sing
^ ^ ^ Agreed, plus I think they give shots and stuff, at least they used to here in WISCO. Plus, if you ever go into an animal shelter you won't be able to say no to those cute little fellas!
Any penalty in trading back in at the dealership.....may be worth it? Dig the Gloria jeans! I think I lke the smell of coffee as much as the taste......that is kinda weird. Not really anything else does that. Pound puppies are the best.....just ask em to see the one's who don't mess in their cages......yes it probably means you got someone elses dog, but you don't get the poop in the house deal. Just a thought. Have a good day!!!!
pekingese. btw, my HD crashed and I've had a lot of other things going on that have made life insane, i'll email again soon. :-) i always eat the pepper in the papa john's pizza boxes.
Mmm...that does sound good. We've actually had quite a bit of pizza lately, I'm a little pizza'd out! I could go for a nice big juicy steak though! This baby craves the protein! Peanut butter, cheese, chocolate ice cream!! Good stuff! :)
Have you started the book yet? Are ya hooked? :)
I'm taking the classes because... for one, I need a hobby. 2nd, I think I'll be good at it and love it (used to build models and such all the time while studying Architecture), and 3rd, I'm hoping to eventually make some money from it. :)
HA! I knew you'd like it!! Isn't it awesome?!! I know, I was totally surprised at how much I liked it. I don't know how much time you have to read, but I'll bring you the 2nd one Sunday because you'll want to start it as soon as you finish the 1st one!! Yeah, I'd love to see the movie with you. I probably won't get to see it while on my trip. I had first thought of Denny and I going to see it for our anniversary, but I hate to just get to my aunt's and then take off!! Maybe we could go when I get back. Hopefully it will be good enough for you to want to see twice! If you're finished with it by Sun or Wed, I might let Bec read it while we're on the road. I think she's ready for a new book and I know she'll love these!
Thanks for missing me. It's a good thing that I'm sick; means everything with baby is going well!! Love ya! :)
"Slow down everyone, you're moving too fast. Frames can't catch you when you're moving like that."
Hope this finds you all well and happy. :) Isn't this an absolutely beautiful Fall? The trees changed their colors so fast, that I don't think the weather had a chance to catch up! It was seventy degrees over this past weekend. And, I don't know about the rest of you... but, seventy can hang around as long as it wants.
Do you ever find yourself sitting at your job (or standing if you're a construction worker) thinking, how did I get here? Am I really happy with who I've become? If you think really hard about it, some of you may like what you discover, but others will not. It doesn't make much of a difference what kind of answers you find... as it does what you will do about them. That is a truth which I have come to realize personally; and one which I intend to apply to my own life, for the betterment of it and those people in it whom I love.
I love hot drinks. They are so soothing. Let's theorize together for a moment. Why do you think hot drinks are so calming to us? (Unless you are Mr. Freeze... then I guess you would die if we handed you a Pumpkin Spice Latte) I think we enjoy hot beverages, even in the Summer months, because we as human beings associate being warm with being secure i.e. perhaps mother's womb. So, when we drink down a steaming hot cup of cocoa, we are warming our insides to a point of reliving those security feelings we got from the womb. Ok, you can call me crazy now. :)p
Starting over is a good thing. Creating a new self is a good thing. Learning to love life is a good thing. Chillaxing is a good thing. Helping strangers is a good thing. Loving others is a good thing. Loving yourself is a good thing. Finding your heart's joy in God is a good thing. You are a good thing.
She was actually born on Thanksgiving Day! It was perfect...all the uncles and grandpas were in the waiting room watching football all day; she came just in time for me to have my Thanksgiving dinner, which wasn't bad at all! Yep, she's my little Turkey!! :)
thanks for welcoming me. I agree with you about the Lord's supper taking up a majority of the service. I have visited only one congregation in my life that seems to grasp that the service should be build around te Lord's supper, rather than just having that stuck in there so it can be checked off the list. Good thoughts. :)
The story of the three bricklayers has been around for many years. The reason it continues to be told is the messages that the story tells. The following is the story of The Three Bricklayers:
"Once there were 3 bricklayers. Each one of them was asked what they were doing.
The first man answered gruffly, 'I'm laying bricks.'
The second man replied, 'I'm putting up a wall.'
But the third man said enthusiastically and with pride, 'I'm building a cathedral.'"

This story clearly reveals two secrets of success:
1. Attitude - Your attitude towards whatever you are doing determines your ultimate level of success. Having enthusiasm and pride in what you are doing will show in your work. Your attitude is one of the most important things that you control. You choose your attitude each and every day. And the choice you make will determine your success.
2. Ability to See the Bigger Picture - Being able to see the end result, rather than just the task, eliminates obstacles, focuses your energy, and provides motivation to excel. At times our focus is only on the immediate task. When we change our focus on the bigger picture or the end result it provides motivation to continue, it inspires solutions to challenges.
To summarize, when you face challenges, when you feel discouraged, when you feel like you will never reach success, remember the story of The Three Bricklayers and look at your attitude and visualize your end result!
i.e., In sharing the gospel, we are not losing friends and making enemies, or even simply doing "the right thing." We are saving souls from hell just as we have been ourselves.
Haha that's fun. Right now I'll really looking for a job. I'm going to Florida State University and I'm really lacking money :P I'll trade ya my truck for your mazda ^_^
Haha well it just touches me too deeply to change it :P Um I plan to get my Bachelors in Psychology and then I want to go to Physical Assistant school, which is 2 years. Hopefully I only have 4 years to do it all after this one is over but I dunno
Hey you! We definitely need to get together. Soon. It's hard to talk at worship, just so many people to touch base with. You are ALWAYS welcome to come hang out at our house whenever you need to get away or just whenever you're missin' me and need a Melia Fix! :D Tell Denny it's time for another bon fire!
it was on a website called "christianpenpals.com" which is not a dating service ;) i wasn't even looking for a guy at the time as i had just broken up with my first serious boyfriend lol
A delayed hello-like Melia says I don't get on here much. Great post-our thoughts will determine our actions. If your thoughts are good, things will come easy to you. When you have disbeleiving negative thoughts, everything is hard.
