I have preached occasionally at small local churches and at the church where I normally worship, but I am not pro. :-) My mom lives in Elizabethtown, near the hospital in the center of town. Her name is Debbie, and I think it will be difficult for me to convince her to attend. I'll send you a note to watch for her if I suspect she will come one night.
It's not often that I blog on Sunday nights. Come to think of it, it's not often that I do much of anything on Sunday nights. After the Lord's Day assemblies, and preaching 2 sermons, I'm usually not good for anything come this time on Sunday night!
It is hard to believe we've been in KY for almost a month now. The time has really flown by these last few weeks. Our house is functional now (even though we still have a few boxes not unpacked and pictures still need to go on the walls, etc.). Slowly, our life is getting back to "normal" - whatever that is for a preacher! :)
I finished my 3-sermon series on "Let Us Arise and Build!" this morning. I did this series to end my time in Jasper, but also worked on it intending to do it here to begin my work. It was well-received. Our elders are already working on setting some goals for 2009 and having a plan for our work as a church!
This morning, we baptized a man into Christ who had visited at least a couple of times since we've been here. So that always makes for a good day!
Well, I have WAY exceeded my mental capacities for Sunday night. Till next time...
Hey Jacob, the Fall Focus is something we've done at Franklin for four years. The one we are doing this year was originated by Phillip Shumake. He put together the card packet.
Yeah, we'd love to go. Probably this year is out. We are in an outage right now, and I am working straight night shift for the next 3.5 weeks. Next year about this time would probably work. I can't remember if we are in an outage then, but I will be getting some 7 day off stretches around then.
Hey Jacob; yea i wanted to add you before I forgot too; I heard that you had left North Jasper, and I wanted to wish you the best as you start you new work, and also let you know we are praying for you.
I think we've met once about 5 years ago when I was passing through Jasper. At the time I was only preaching part time. I agreed to work with the Harpersville church for about a year, and did work with Bro. Hartsell and Mrs. Betty. I also preached a Gospel meeting for them in May, and have been invited back to preach another one in oct. It has been an awesome experience.
I visit college view from time to time, they are a great group and I'm sure it was a great experience for you. Did you work under Mark White, or another man?
I appreciate your encourgement in my preaching efforts. We are blessed to work with a congergation that has so much potential thats so close to home. I'm sure i will learn alot working beside Matt, I look forward to growing and working as a Gospel preacher
That is great news, Jacob. I will continue to pray for you and Anna's work there. I know you guys will accmomplish a lot. That is a great way to start out your work there. Keep up the good work!!
the guy you baptized. You said you weren't responsible. So, he must have been sleeping through your sermons cause the ones that I have heard was always pretty good. some of us from NJ were talking about what good lessons you presented. But if you want to not take credit for your sermons, then go right ahead.
