Ugh, it has been way too long since my last post! I guess I have become the dreaded "once-a-month poster." I guess having a baby will do that ;)
Anyway, as I promised last time, I have come bearing recent pictures hoping this will earn my forgiveness from you all for my prolonged absence :)
These are Jailyn's 6 month pictures and Halloween pictures. She is 7 months old now, but these are the ones already on the computer.
i'm gonna keep trying to do what i can. it's been hard to get in touch with him, and now the guy whose name i gave him isn't even coming anymore, so i just don't know.
Yeah, it was kinda crazy, but it all turned out okay. And, hey, I probably formed a few more muscles from it, and that never hurt anyone, right? Hehe. HOpe the rest of your week is great!
Sorry I wasn't able to make anymore Ike updates, things got pretty busy around here. As you probably have already figured out, we got power back four days after it went out. We were so lucky to have that cool front come through and keep us cool, but we are very happy to get the lights back on!
Jailyn is growing like a weed! She turned six months on the third and is weiging 16 pounds 13.5 ounces. She was 27" long and the doctor said she is in the 90th percentile on her height-we may have a tall daughter on our hands! :) As many of you know, Jailyn will have to wear a helmet for 3-4 months to shape her flat little head. Poor baby is having the helmet fitted on October 17th, so that should be a fun few months. Just when we thought we were done with the harness...in comes the helmet. Oh well, we just want her to be healthy and this will shape her head so that her brain can grow properly. I am all for it (just not looking forward to it). I hate that I don't have time to post pictures right now but I will try to get some up real soon.
We ordered a sweet little pink bunny costume for Jailyn for Halloween! I can't wait to fit it on her and get some pictures! She will be the cutest bunny 'round these parts :) She gets her 6 month pictures taken tomorrow at Hermann Park. I don't know why but I am really excited about it! Hopefully it won't be too hot and we can get them taken quickly.
Blake and I are also looking forward to the Sacred Selections softball tournament. I keep telling him I need to practice so I don't hurt myself ;) I've been power walking every day with Jailyn to try and build up some stamina...we'll see if that helps any. We can't wait to see everyone there! Check out Sacred Selections on pleonast or visit the website www.sacredselections.org and join us for some fun!
The day after I was born, the doctor went in to my mother's room while she had me, then he picked me up and began to massage my flat and lopsided head, ending up with a nice shape. Do you think that was dangerous? I guess that's why they use a helmet now.
Woot! The only bad thing is that they are saying to try to get 10 to a team instead of 9 so we would have 4 in the outfield. If you can't, we will hopefully have a couple of extras.
We'll be there! I'm sorry Jailyn will have to go through that, but she is so precious. I'm sure she'll be a trooper. :) She was so adorable Sunday morning in our class. I love seeing little girls in beautiful little dresses like that! :)
Oh I can't wait to see her 6 month pictures! I hope it goes well tomorrow! You go girl, with the power walking and the softball! That's a great organization, I had read about it a few months ago in the FC magazine. I'm subbing tomorrow, but maybe I'll try to call you after school... or give me a call when you have a moment (ha ha ha!). Talk to you soon! Love you!!
Kami had to pretend her "Jailyn" was going to be a bunny for halloween too. KAmi informed me her baby needs hearing aides like grandma today because her ears were broken.
I was at Katy Mills yesterday and wanted to let you know about a good deal. Children's Place has tights for .19!! They come in black, white, off-white, and there were a few pink.
well, Ike has come and gone leaving us without power since 12:15 am Saturday morning. I am typing this post from my iPhone using someones Wi-Fi. Luckily, this cool front came through just in time! We did not suffer any significant damage at our house. When the winds picked up it started blowing the rain sideways through our back door getting the carpet wet. Our back dooralso warped and is very hard to open and close, but that's the worst of it for us. Our neighbors have sections of fence down and some are missing shingles. Several lines and trees are down too around the city. All the subdivisions around us have power, so I'm not sure why we don't yet :/ We decided to get out of the house and come over to Willowbrook Mall. We are charging our phones and laptops up and doing some shopping.
We pray everyone else stayed safe and suffered minimal damage.
-Jamie
PS. Jailyn slept through the entire hurricane! Ike didn't bother her one bit :)
Our back door did the same thing. Hopefully you are enjoying your power being back on now. I was trying to figure out why we didn't have power when so many others did. I guess we just weren't that important!
I just talked to Nancy and she said y'all had power!! YAY!! Sorry I messed your call this afternoon! Glad you have power back and that y'all are ok and not much damage to your house!
Well, it's Friday evening about 8:05 pm and we are sitting around watching the coverage on Ike. It is VERY windy here in Cypress, about 58 mph, and Blake and his Dad just finished hammering a section of fence in the neighbors yard back together, it was wobbling. No rain yet but our power will flicker every so often, probably due to the wind. Ooops...there it goes again.
We have all our supplies and are taking shelter. Jailyn is as happy as can be with no worries of Hurricane Ike on her mind :) Gene (Blake's Dad), Amanda, Cody, Pee Wee (Amanda's doggie) and Lil Bit (Gene's doggie) are here as well. The tubs are filled with water and I am about to unplug everything so nothing gets damaged.
The dogs seem to know something is going on. They are staying close to us and away from the windows! It is amazing how much intuition they have.
They have said we will probably lose power anywhere from 2-5 days, so I will try to update everyday when I can.
Please keep all of us in Ike's path in your prayers!
Wow, I don't think our wind has gotten that high yet, but it's starting to really pick up. This is so surreal, isn't it? I told my mother that it's like waiting to have a baby. You know it's going to happen and it's going to hurt, and you just want to get it over with!
Whelp, Jailyn is 5 months old now and today she experienced rice cereal for the first time! She did so well! She got it all over her face, clothes, bumbo seat, and legs just like any good baby should do :) When she finished eating I wondered how much really got to her tummy. The doctor wants me to feed it to her twice a day for a week and if she does well, start her on Stage 2 foods (aka baby food from the jars). I can't believe MY baby is about to be eating real food! It's just amazing how fast they grow up (I know I keep saying that but I really can't believe it!)
Here are some pictures of our adventure this morning:
What is this you have for me Momma?
I think I like it!
I want to do it myself!
I got it everywhere!
On another note, looks like Ike is heading straight for the Texas coastline! Doesn't look like we are going to have to evacuate, but those living closer to the coast may need to soon! We will be getting rain from Ike but let us know if you need a place to run to!
She is so cute. Cody and I watched the videos of Blake and Abby eating their first foods about two weeks ago. I cried watching them and seeing how much they have changed. We have family that will be joining us tomorrow to get away from Ike.
looks like Ike might be headed more for us than we thought :( my aunt deborah and cousin staci (wise) and her 2 kids (avery and addi) are leaving to go to college station. i have a test on friday in one of my classes so if the university doesnt shut down, im stuck! :( hope you guys stay safe!
SO SWEET!!! I watched all your videos on Youtube. You're good...being able to record and feed her for the first time! You're really getting those mommy skills down!!!
