Saw your new page, but it won't let me comment. =( I guess because i don't have an account? I love the pool. I wouldn't let much stop me from jumping in either if that was in my back yard. We had a good time in FL - the whole family went. Good memories. My mother-in-law is coming today until Friday. I'll let you know when a good time is. Maybe Thursday morning. Now just WHY are you voiting for Obama? Miss you tons - love you too!
Wow! That pool is amazing! Wish I could come visit there. Are you coming home for the holidays? Will you be in BG anytime? When do plan to move back to the US?
Just looked at your blogspot - looks neat. I miss you! Wish you and Em could have been w/ us at Bert's Pumpkin patch! Olivia had a great time running all over the place. She didnt want to sit still, but we still got some great pictures. xoxo mom
jeans - we've been so busy that i forgot about this morning. you call anytime that's good for you and i'll answer. tomorrow morning (fri) is fine if that would work for you. we should be home for the majority of the morning. if not we'll work out anything time. i just got a new computer and haven't download skype...i've forgotten all my username and password - oops!
Jeanie, its really Granddaddy. Voting for Obama? What in the world are you thinking about? If you want the moral standards in our country to remain on an even keel or improve, McCain is the only choice. This is a serious issue which I feel keenly about. Love to you, GG.
One individual said on pleo that we each have our own right to vote our own choice so to leave it alone. I disagree. How in the world can a Christian vote for a man who is blatantly for same sex marriage and supports the right to have an abortion. NOTHING outweighs the horrors of that type of mindset that could adversely affect our country which is already sadly in need of better moral values. I pray daily that he will not have the opportunity to lead our country into further decline. He has stated over and over that he strongly supports these issues. Maybe your mother is right, you are trying to punch our buttons. OK, You succeeded. I hope you have a change of heart. You are a very sweet person and I know you wouldn't support those unscriptural choices.
Hey, can we talk soon? Did you get your Halloween card. I made Olivia an Indian costume, or should I say native american costume? I'll email pics soon.
hey! i love your blog you created! it looks like you are having a lot of fun down there. :) i'm hanging in here...i don't have much longer. i'm really looking forward to him being here! i know its going to be a lot of work, but it will be worth it. :)
1. i love SBS. It stands for Six Billion Stories. It's a tv chanel that has really unusual things on it, lots of foreign films and news. The french news anchor is a hunk!
2. I regret getting a teaching degree.
3. I have a love hate relationship with the eliptical machine.
4. I am proud of my craftiness. (as in crafts)
5. I have always and still do get very angry about various injustices I observe.
6. i like short shorts on guys. Not too short. it's sort of popular over here. Only 20 days till I post more about that!
7. I have the absolute cutest neice in the entire world. Sorry if you thought you did!
8. I think lobster is the cockroach of the sea.
hey!!! we need to figure out a time to talk! it's been forever! Hope you're doing well. Not too much has been going on here- only that school is taing over my life. AND, I made the HIGHEST test grade in one of Trafton;s classes. That's right, I rule.
Well, it has taken forever for the pictures to upload so I don't feel like writing now! Here we go...
This was hanging right where I almost put my hand! Yikes! It's the classic red back.
Went to Freo the other day... caught the sunset.
Totally crazy- The other day at church Alan and Melaine came up and said there was an American couple here and the girl said she knew me. Sure enough it was a friend that was in some of my final classes at Western! How bizarre! She and her husband will be over here for 4 years, so that's pretty cool!
We went to the movies in style the other day. They have a thing over here called Gold class. It's pretty cool. You pay twice as much for the ticket but you sit in comfy recliners and can order all kinds of food and drinks. and thay'll bring them whenever you want- so i got a hot chocolate an hour into the movie! sweet! (Someone gave us the tickets- i'm too cheap to pay 30 bucks! but it was really nice!)
This is from our women's retreat- the lillies were just growing naturally among the trees....it was beautiful! Especially when the mist was there in the morning.
These pictures are from a park called Araluen. It's really cool. There is lots of stonework and big wooden beams that look like something out of lord of the rings. They were having a tulip festival so we went with a bunch of the oldies from church.
Speaking of lord of the rings... we live in a shire! ha... i think that's funny! Here's our new address:
32 Colchester Gardens
Ballajura, Western Australia
Australia 6066
We'd love to hear from you!
Till the next post! Cheers!
Freaky spider! I got a bunch of spider bites while we were camping in Maine (We still aren't home yet). Olivia has been saying Bar Harbor, but she can't say it completely so its more like "habah" and sounds just like a Mainer! Chris was quite pleased! The tulips were awesome! I'll email when we're home. Love you!!!!
Wow! HOw beautiful and what a fabulous experience ya'll are having. Quite different from Jeb and Sheila's, but one that will no doubt shape your life in a way others will not know. Traveling and seeing the world is so eye-opening. I read this quote I love. "Seeing the world is like reading a book. If you never travel, you have only read one page". Isn't that a neat quote? And so true. I still remember you saving up and coming to England and what fun we had showing you the sights. Today Faith is moving in your Grandaddy's basement so I'm cleaning down there. She'll use our kitchen and utility room. She had a 2 year old, so our next adventure begins!! :-) Hope we can influence her to become a Christian. Enjoyed your pictures.
JP!!! you are getting so old. i wish we were together on your birthday. birthday's were always so much fun together. hope you have a good day. lets set up a time to talk....SOON! love you
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry i missed your call. I was in class. Call me again tonight, or I'll get on skype to talk. I love and miss you!!!!! Oh, my birthday card got sent back to me because i wrote your address wrong. But it'll get there soon, promise!!!
^ ok, for a second there I read lauren's comment and thought you were pregnant! I was about to insist that you move back home immediately! haha. Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! hope you had a great day. we miss you guys tons and tons!
By the way, I actually mailed your birthday gifts BEFORE your birthday, but obviously not early enough!!! You know me! But you've got two packages coming. I hope you like them!!
You have got to change your post. Seeing that spider freaks me out! He is good natured. Wish you could meet him! He would love his Aunt Jeanie! I've already planning his 1st bday. It's in 2 months. WOW!
Even though I'm around the world from everything I know, there are lots of similarities. Like we all drive cars, use banks, speak english, etc. So althouhg lots of little things are different, it's kind of easy to think you are just in another region of the US. But lately there have been several incidences over Mexican food that have given me a funny little reality check that I'm around the world!
1. A while back Melaine and ed had peops over for games. She made fajitas for dinner and we just had to go through and put the beef, chicken, peppers (capsicum over here), cheese, and toppings on the tortilla. It cracked me up because everyone just looked at the food for a minute and had no idea what to do! A couple women followed me through the line and kept saying "This looks so good, but I don't know what I'm supposed to do with it!"
2. The other night the conversation turned to food and I mentioned that I like quesedillas. (I know I just spelled that wrong) The lady next to me turned and said "What is that?" I said "what?" and then realized I had to explain what a ques. is!
3. The grocery store stocks one brand of refried beans, salsa, tortillas. No variety. But that isn't a big deal (except theres no chopped green chilis which I use a lot of). But the other day I was making enchiladas and the store stopped carrying enchilada sauce!! I mean, I thought that was a staple mexican food item!!
4. The "Best little Mexican Restaurant", Garcias, costs around $18 a person. I can't bring myself to pay that for Mexican food. It doesn't even include chips and salsa.
Alan just says that Mexico is all the way around the world and it is pretty normal for them not to carry that stuff. Ugh. So anyways that is my reality check. I am far away from Mexico and therefore, far away from home. I love you guys and miss you tons. Go eat some Mexican for me! Adios!
that's funny. we have the best mexican resturant here and it's called garcias. except it's not as expensive as yours. if you'll just come home i'll treat you to some?!?!?! =) miss you.
i'm having becca's baby shower at my house this sunday. scares me that all of lost river is invited, but i'm excited to do it for her. busy week getting this prepared and in order.
Ha ha...thats funny thats how I felt about Mexican food just in the difference from California to Tennesse!! Nick has now come to realize the difference :) I guess we are just that much closer to Mexico :)
the only real way to get good mexican food here is for someone to make it, too expensive to eat it out, which is so surprising to say that about mexican food
Doing good...I do have a bump, but its a little big needless to say! I don't think I will be posting any of my pictures on here. lol! Nick is being supportive...there are times when he doesn't really understand where I am coming from, but he is doing a great job getting me through this. How are you?
I am frantically trying to get Bible curriculum written as the new quarter starts Sunday. I am also trying to wrap up the new directory that I am putting together. It is not a fun task! We have been house hunting since our lease is up in Aug. That is such a wild thing over here. I think I might have mentioned that before when we were looking. Well, we applied for one and should know next week if we are moving.
I have really been expanding my mind lately. I have been learning watercolour from a friend from church. She is extremely talented- I am not! But it has been fun. I have also been learning how to quilt. All my squares and borders are cut out, now I am just sewing. I really like this. I feel like this may be one craft that sticks with me over time. I have also been trying lots of new recipes lately. Lots of sheep are raised over here so lamb is really reasonably priced. So I made a roast lamb leg the other night that had an herb crust and a wine sauce that was really good. then I turned the leftovers into a curry.
Well, that about sums up the last week or two. This weekend should be fun, we have a birthday dinner for Melaine and then a games night on Saturday. I think we'll probably have people over on Sunday for lunch.
Well, we still miss everyone lots! Love to you all!
Jeans, you sound like Martha Stewart! I have never cooked lamb before, you're so adventurous =) It sounds like it was yummy! We miss you guys tons. There are so many wonderful things happening at church right now, I wish you were here to share in it with us. Although truthfully, you and Alan were the spark that started most of it. We're so blessed to have had you for 2 years (wish it could have been longer and that you'll be back someday:-) We'll be leaving for Boston on August 1st, so let's try to talk before then (if you're not too busy packing, that is!) Miss you Miss you Miss you!!
Wow! My Jeans has gone crafty on me. You need to teach me a thing or two! The move sounds exciting, but stressful. A new place is always nice, but I hate to pack up. Although I think sometimes emptying boxes and putting stuff in a new place makes me feel like a have new stuff or something. I'll be so excited for you to see our new house. It's coming along, but we've got more to work on. Lots to do and no money to do it! =) We need to talk soon. We've had VBS this week, so its been busy. As always I miss you. I'm still hoping for BG to be HOME again. ;)
That meal sounds very difficult, but yummy! If you stick with quilting, maybe you can teach me how when you get back! We just got back from our trip to NC with Mimi and Granddaddy. It was really nice and restful. I am also working on a new curriculum for the preschool class. Its a lot of fun/work. Can you skype soon!
Don't listen to Randi. She tries to make it sound like she's not adventurous when cooking, but we all know she shops at Whole Foods and California Weirdo Supermarket and who knows where else. Poor Dan probably has to eat artichokes at every meal and he hasn't had any meat from a cow in years. I bet you would eat cows if they weren't all mad. I think the worst thing lambs get is eccentric.
I'm proud you're doinf some watercolor art! You should pick some of your fav. places there like a cafe or the beach and do some small pieces to frame and keep as a reminder. When I did my burpcloths I thought I would contine sewing but haven't since. My lil sis said I was a granny :) So I was going to let you know that youre a granny too for quilting ha!
