Just an update for anyone following the written debate mentioned below. Kurt's 2nd Affirmative is posted. It's going to get very interesting at this point and Kurt making him own a 300 foot-long hot dog that a very progressive church here in Houston promoted recently. Take a read and follow along!
I'm the moderator for Kurt Jones in a written debate that officially began today with the posting of the first affirmative.
The propositions are as follows:
1. The Scriptures do not authorize the local church to pay for a meal (from the treasury) for its members which is for social, rather than benevolent, purposes.
Affirm: Kurt G. Jones
Deny: David Garner
2. The Scriptures do authorize the local church to pay for a meal (from the treasury) for its members which is for social, rather than benevolent, purposes.
Affirm: David Garner
Deny: Kurt G. Jones
Feel free to monitor the debate a new affirmative/negative will be posted at least once every two weeks. If you have any suggestions or notes that feel would help Kurt, feel free to email me or Kurt!
Happy Birthday! Laura and I were just talking about you. We're celebrating Tyler, Kyle H. and Kyle Reddell's birthdays tonight... wish you could be here, too!
1.) I was a part of a three man lip sync band called the Mello-deers in college.
2.) Instead of our annual MS Walk in Kemah, we're going to go to the Race for the Cure walk. Not only because Kemah was devastated by Hurricane Ike but also because someone very close to us has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be walking in Lubbock. You should make a donation to her tally.
3.) I played one season of soccer when I was 5 years old. It all ended when I got tired of running because my side hurt. Soccer was not for me.
4.) My high school mascot was a sandstorm.
5.) I'm trying to find a licensed plumber and/or HVAC contractor to do a gas and HVAC inspection on our house so we can become licensed to foster/adopt! (If you know any Christians in Houston who would be willing to do a good deed for little or no cost give me their digits!)
6.) The first time I got to hang out with my, then, future wife was on Texas Independence Day at a re-enactment of the Battle of San Jacinto.
7.) We took a quick weekend trip to Chicago, with just a week's planning, shortly after we were married and it was one of the coldest (my teeth are chattering thinking about it) and best weekends of my life!
8.) I've recently agreed to be the moderator for Kurt's upcoming written debate on Church-sponsored Social Meals. The details are still being finalized but it will most likely published via a blog. I'll share details when they're finalized.
spare me that "third party vote is a vote for Obama" speech, I LIVE IN TEXAS, and it makes no difference who I vote for, there is no way the state of Texas isnt' going to vote republican...regardless of the candidtate. And you already know this, as we had the same conversation when I voted for Pat Buchannan in 2000 =)
For the past couple of months my wife and I have been getting into blogging. My wife has discovered the world of coupons. She does really good at getting things we need very cheaply and even sometime making money on the transaction. So we've been working hard to make a blog that helps show others how to do this but also serves as a residual income stream from the advertising. So we are pleased to announce the official release of GamingTheSystem.net
**NOTE** You may have visited her old blog, which will continue to maintain for a short period. We're now official with our own domains. So visit us at GamingTheSystem.net
We hope the blog can be of use to you. While you're there do us a favor and click on and, if you're feeling particularly helpful, sign up for free information from the ads we have posted.
Be sure and let us know what you think! We want to make the content of the blog very useful so that you'll want to come back and check it out daily!
I just want to brag on my beloved wife in this post!
There was movie, made in 1996, called "Micheal". Andie McDowell played some sort of a psychic, or something to that effect, that was in seearch of a real live angel. She also was an aspiring singer. She played one of her songs, "I Love Pie", and it sums up my feeling today!
They say the quickest route to a man's heart is through his stomach and I am no exception to that rule.
My favorite thing has always been lemon meringue pie. I have had a number of world class home cooks, including my mom, grandmas, Faye Dawdy and others, make outstanding lemon meringue pies. But Darleen has absolutely perfected the art of the beauty that is:
Lemon Meringue Pie!
I just wanted the world to know! Not only has she nailed lemon meringue pie but a host of other culinary delights as well. She's quite the homemaker and I just couldn't make it without her. She is the light of my life and I'm glad that God brought us together. Love you!
