Best of 2008 - Part I 12-30-08 04:41pm EST
Best Movie - Iron Man
I agree with Whitney Matheson of USA Today's Pop Candy here. I saw this movie numerous times and never got tired of it.

Best TV Show, Drama - Mad Men
This show is by far the wittiest, coolest, most dramatic show I've seen in ages. The cinematography is amazing, set design timely, and costuming perfectly retro.

Best TV Show, Comedy - The Office (US)
I have a renewed love for this show. I can't compare the US version to the UK version because they each have their unique identities. And who doesn't love Jim?

Best TV Show Cliffhanger - Lost
Where the frak did that island go?

Best Album - Kings of Leon "Only by the Night"
Thanks to someone who will remain nameless, I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this band's transformation from album to album.

Best Song - Ray LaMontagne "Let It Be Me"
Knocks my socks off every time and brings a tear to my eye.

Best TV Actor - (tie) Jon Hamm, Mad Men and David Tennant, Doctor Who
Who can argue with me here? Don Draper and Doctor Who... c'mon.

Best TV Actress - Elizabeth Moss, Mad Men
Just watch Season 2 and you will understand completely... heck, watch season 1 too.

Best Movie Actor - Ed Norton
This guy has done everything... drama, comedy, dramedy, and now super-hero movie... he brought life into a great The Incredible Hulk movie and kicked that other one's butt.

Best Movie Actress - Kate Winslet
The Reader and Revolutionary Road... sure to be amazing films. Also, I just love Kate Winslet.

More to come...

Posting song lyrics is lame-o 11-18-08 04:17pm EST
Instead, here is a self-indulgent list of my favorite things this week:

Favorite TV Show - Chuck
Zachary Levi is one hot matzo.

Favorite movie: Twilight
I haven't even seen it yet, but I know it will be my favorite for the week.

Favorite book: Twilight
Re-reading the book as movie prep.

Favorite friend: Julie
She is driving up to BG to meet me, so we can watch Twilight together. (Don't let this get to your head, Julie! It is only for this week!)

Favorite car: Fiat 500
This car has been holding steady for a few weeks now. So cute!

Favorite actor: Alexander SkarsgÄrd
He plays a hot Viking vampire on a horrible show (True Blood... which by the way is the worst adaptation of a book I've ever seen).

Favorite actress: Kristen Stewart
Only because she gets to play Bella.

Favorite social networking forum: Facebook
It allows me to talk to people I haven't thought about or heard from in years.

Favorite bank: Fifth Third
Very friendly personnel... and hot ones too.

Favorite restaurant: Buffalo Wild Wings
Food stinks, but Tuesday Trivia is fun!

Favorite store: Kohls
Woot! 20% discount! Woot!

Favorite text exclamation: Woot!

Favorite Jew: Joshua Leach

Favorite album: Eric Hutchinson - Sounds Like This

Favorite city: Thetford, Norfolk, UK
I'm sucking up to the city, so maybe it will grant me a work permit.

Favorite winter apparel: Cheap Ugg knockoffs
$12 at Wal-Mart... warmest shoes ever.

Favorite occupation: Not my current one
Maybe photojournalist/event planner?

Favorite blogging site: This one, of course!
julesGo for event planner! And I'll let that go to my head til Sunday when we part ways...i think it's only fair.
everything_orangenice favorites
stupiduglyTwilight is all the craze. Would I like it? I hated "Interview with a Vampire." Is it anything like that? That movie FREAKED ME OUT!!
stupiduglyShould I read the books BEFORE watching the movie??? Or vice versa??

Ray LaMontagne 11-18-08 01:35pm EST
"Let It Be Me" makes me tear up every time I hear it.

There may come a time, a time in everyone's life
Where nothin' seems to go your way
Where nothing seems to turn out right
There may come a time, you just cant seem to find your place
For every door you walk in to, seems like they get slammed in your face
That's when you need someone, someone that you can call.
And when all your faith is gone
Feels like you can't go on
Let it be me
Let it be me
If it's a friend that you need
Let it be me
Let it be me
Feels like your always comin' on home
Pockets full of nothin' and you got no cash
No matter where you turn you ain't got no place to stand
Reach out for something and they slap your hand
Now I remember all too well
Just how it feels to be all alone
You feel like you'd give anything
For just a little place you can call your own
That's when you need someone, someone that you can call
And when all your faith is gone
Feels like you can't go on
Let it be me
Let it be me
If it's a friend you need
Let it be me
Let it be me
