Yesterday, I guess I was more anxious about Jerry's eye surgery than he was. As it turned out, there was no need for either of us to be anxious. All went extremely well.
This was the third time that he has had this done. The first time he had a good surgeon here in Conway but that surgeon has since passed away. The second time, Jerry went to someone different and this surgeon really did a number on him.
I suppose the doctor just hadn't done enough of these to really have it down to an art, so to speak. Jerry said that the whole time the doctor was working on that clamped-open eye, it felt like Jerry was taking a beating. And it showed. He came out of there last time all patched up and hurting. When he took the bandages off, he was swollen and had a monstrous black eye. It took a long time for the bruising and swelling to go away and when it did, Jerry could tell that the little cyst thingy was still in there.
That must have been close to a year ago and he has just been dealing with it. I think he didn't want to go back to that doctor and have him re-do it. I don't blame him. He says it feels like there is something in your eye all the time. How irritating is that?
With my encouragement, he went back and made an appointment with Dr. Baker -- the owner and head doctor over there. Dr. Baker has done this kind of work for years and years. He also has a great reputation for having the gentle hand for plastic surgery around the delicate eye area.
Jerry was almost giddy when I picked him up. The doctor was good, nice, quick, gentle and got the entire cyst. Jerry has one stitch and just the teensiest spot of swelling. No bruising. If you looked at him and didn't know he had had anything done, you might not even notice it.
Thanks, Dr. Baker! |

Today:
**Got out calendar and blank paper. Started a list of daily items from today until we leave for Florida. I feel much better!
**Uploaded digital photos onto laptop and am currently sending them to the local photo shop. I hadn't had pics printed since April and there are quite a few to do. I want to take some scrap book projects with me in the car on our trip.
**Joey and I finished day 4 of video school. He is whining less and less everyday.
**The weather is gorgeous.
**At 4:00 Jerry has an appointment for a surgical procedure on one of his eyes. He gets these little cyst type things in the glands right at the edge of his eye lid -- usually the bottom lid. The doc says they are oil glands that get blocked and it is fairly common. The cyst is visible on the outside but it scratches and rubs his eye on the inside. Very frustrating feeling. I am going to drop him off, run and pick up David from work and then go pick up Jerry.
**The rest of the night -- pampering my sweetie. He'll be sore and will have quite a shiner!
**If possible -- a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to get some of their 50% off scrap book stuff! |

YAY!!!
Coming up over the course of one month:
*Jerry's birthday (8/31)
*Joey's birthday (9/7)
*Two week trip to Florida! (9/8 -- 9/21)
*Mine and Jerry's 24th anniversary (9/15)
The last couple of weeks I have been working a lot at the church building and getting our school year started, etc. Now it is time for me to get serious about this upcoming trip, etc. Things to do!!
btw -- Joey is a pretty good traveler and he is used to being on the run with me. This upcoming trip is going to have us on the road for several different long stretches. His school is on DVD, we have movies to take, snacks, toys, etc. But after hours of sitting most of that can become quite uninteresting. What do you do that is: cheap/free, easy, quiet, etc. for children on long trips??

1. If you use a laptop on a regular basis, do you use a mouse or just the touchpad on the keyboard?
2. How long does it typically take to get the right "touch" for the touchpad??
I told Jerry that I didn't need a mouse but now I wonder if I do. I think I will eventually get the feel for the touchpad but for now, I am all over the place with my coursor.
P.S. Thanks for all the kind comments below. |

Lest you think that I am horribly frivolous with my sweet husband's income...
The nails came out of my balloon money.
The laptop is refurbished and we got an unbelievable deal at buy.com. David (17 year old son) will be doing his studies exclusively on computer for the next year or two and we are going to let him use our older beast -- this tower PC that I have been using. We had been planning/budgeting/investigating prices for a laptop for quite some time. The fact that it is a gorgeous shiny red was just a fun coincidence!!
I am all about frugality! Ask my children!! They have quite a repertoire of stories they would LOVE to tell you! Poor little yard-sale-clad kiddos!!
There. I feel better. I felt a little awkward after boasting of my laptop. The gorgeous RED ONE!!! :)
Get thee behind me, Satan. |
