Thanksgiving Day Post 11-27-08 10:39am CST
Well, here it is yet another Thanksgiving. In 30 minutes I will be heading out to the third annual Thanksgiving day celebration with the Benton/Foster clan! Four years ago my mom passed away (the day after Thanksgiving), and every Thanksgiving since, the Fosters have made it a point to have us spend the day with them, and it starts with BLACK EYED PEA! It's never been my favorite eating establishment but they do a great job with Turkey Day.

This is the time where everyone always lists what they are thankful for, I guess. I could do the same thing and make a list of the MANY things I have to be thankful for... family, friends, special people in my life, etc, but I won't for fear of leaving someone out.

I will list the one thing I am thankful of above and beyond anything else. I'm thankful for my God who shows grace and mercy upon someone as myself.

Have a great day today,
Jeff
thejamesHappy Thanksgiving, Jeff.
txvballer

have fun at the Benton/Foster's place!
saxaphonegirlGood! I'm happy! =D
sneakgeekgrowing up i always hated peas. green peas, black-eyed peas, lima peas... okay, so maybe that's more of a bean, but they still carry the same texture. yuck. so i instantly had an aversion to eating at the black eyed pea restaurant. afterall, i question anyone who would name a dining establishment after that putrid funk for your pallet. it triggered a pavlovian response, i suppose. an involuntary loss of appetite while walking thru the door. but then, when i grew up, i gave them credit for serving more than just black eyed peas... and the unlimited bowls of cornbread smothered in butter didn't hurt much either... and then the musical group came along and i realized...
sneakgeekthat i didn't have a point for anything that i just typed. i just think it's fun to make conversation about black eyed peas every now and then.
windham4lifeI hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving. Your number one thing to be thankful for should definitely be all of our number ones! God is so good. He is the reason for ALL our blessings :)

The calm after a busy weekend! 11-11-08 07:41am CST
Well, I am finally getting to slow down a bit after an awesome camping trip. Got most everything cleaned up from the trip and am all rested up.

There is nothing better than spending time outdoors, surrounded by God's creation... including loved ones! We had a great time of eating around the campfire, worshiping around the campfire, drinking coffee at 6am around the campfire.

More to come later!
Jeff

-------------edit------------
Also, if anyone ever is looking for a great place to camp, I would recommend Caddo Lake State Park on the Louisiana/Texas Border. We were a little too close to the highway where we were, but the lake is absolutely beautiful. I could have stayed out there for a couple hours.

Thanks to Kris for getting the trip together and thanks to everyone who made it a great weekend... Stacy, Kris, Josh, Chris, Sheri, Daniel, James, Tia, Spencer, Wendy, and all the rest. It was great, and remember: Pine cone juice is the best!

------------edit again-------------
And a special thanks to Vanessa. OHHHH!!! I GET IT NOW!!!!!!

Yay for Hope... and Change... and Hope again... 11-05-08 07:52am CST
We have made history in our country!! Not only did we elect the first black President, but we elected the first naturalized citizen as the President! (Who cares about the constitutionality of it, it's history!!) We also now have a socialist president in office come the 20th of January! We are such a progressive country!
ellwoodwdwelcome to 1984.
sneakgeekyou sound so positive!! that's the type of attitude we need today.
pianobubYes!
txbowlerI wonder if Obama has a list of the people who contributed to his campaign, and those are the only ones he's going to give "change" to.
heartsintexas...yep...and if the supreme court eventually decides it's unconsitutional and he gets kicked out...then we get the happy team of Biden as POTUS and Pelosi as V-POTUS!! :)
shesheLets not forget he is only half black, so does that make him only a half of a president?
ahopeWe were just talking about that... the possibility that he was not born in Hawaii, as no birth certificate has been provided.... under who's jurisdiction would that fall? Shouldnt a background check be run on all presidential candidates? Just a thought....
ellwoodwdit doesn't matter if he was born in hawaii or not since his mother is a u.s. citizen then so is he.
txvballeryay. yipee. Oh, joy.
caseymp3'Socialism' is doing him a favor. More like fascism *see Mussolini. When the economy falls flat from continuing the same policies the people will love to hear the term socialism, yet the answers Obama will bring to the table will be nothing more than corporate fascism. Man... as for the birth certificate thing, the one that is 'proof' online is a joke. Take your own and compare, my measly Tomball certificate looks 1000 times more though out and has WAY more information on it. Not to mention a watermark on banknote paper.
caseymp3actually thats the significance of the term 'naturalized' the constitution only allows for a 'natural' born citizen, not one who was born in another country. Those words have meanings.
mrsheadleestock up on guns and ammo whilst u can!

Halloween and an update! 10-30-08 09:11pm CST
First, let me say how much I love Halloween! It is one of the BEST holidays EVER! I love decorating, getting a costume, dressing up, seeing others in costume, seeing the kiddo's roaming the neighborhood looking for treats in their costumes.

Second, an update. I FINALLY got my root canal out of the way... NOT a pleasant day for Jeff. I have had 2 previous ones and never have I endured pain... this time was different. A LOT different. But it is done and I am glad! Right after I got to work after my root canal I got a call from the unemployment office telling me that they ruled in my favor and that the compensation I received was warranted. YES!! A HUGE load off my mind.

I hope you all have a GREAT weekend and hopefully most of you I will see tomorrow!

Jeff
littlebitYay for your unemployment :-) Hope you feel better from your root canal :-)
ellwoodwdi would have pulled the tooth for free :)
lynnpaigeDon't you hate going to the dentist. I'd rather have my toenail ranked! Anyways, sounds like you ended up with a good week! Happy for you!!!!
beckydGlad the unemployment thing worked out!
txvballerjeff, the only reason you like seeing kids going around the neighborhood is because you get to scare them!
mrsheadleei dressed up as a nudist on strike.
diannaYay for root canals out of the way AND unemployment working out! So, what were you for Halloween? We need pictures!! ;)
diannaOh!!! Saw a picture of you in costume on facebook!! ;) Who was the blue smurf?

"Bring a tear of joy to my eye" 10-28-08 11:15am CST
"Tell me everything's gonna be alright."

I just received my first paycheck after 6 weeks of being at my new job and it is a welcome sight! One of the many great things about this job, as opposed to my last one, is that I do not have to worry about whether my check will bounce and I will not have to worry about them not paying me when they say they will.

I've got another day or two until I know what the results of my hearing with the state of Texas over my unemployment claim is and another couple months until I know the results of my wage claim but after about 7 months of not having a work paycheck things are finally starting to look up!
heartsintexascongratulations!!! I love paychecks! I look forward to having a salary job that will provide me with some consistency so I don't have to worry about things like how my paycheck will be affected by needing to leave early and drive home to vote!
littlebitYAY!!!! Fred and I have been there! What a wonderful day :-) Don't spend it all in one place ;-)
txbowlerwe got the money. we're going to sizzler.
evanderJust go ahead and sign that first check over to your legal counsel.
