Thanksgiving 11-26-08 03:46pm EST
What a year!?!? This time of year always makes me reflect on the past year and this year is no exception. Although it has seemed like this year was on turbo speed (especially since August). I don't like when time seems like a blurr, but luckily we have plenty of pictures to remind us of this great year.

Hope everyone enjoys being with family and eat as many mashed potatoes as you can!! Yum yum.

What are you thankful for this year?

numbersYou and the rest of my little family.

27 days 11-16-08 04:03pm EST
Well we had a flood of 7 RSVP's come through the mail this week. But we sat down together via phone and went through the list and made some realistic guesses. We should be ok, I just had a panic moment.

remaining things on the list of to do's
-bridal party gifts (including one for Stephen, any ideas would be appreciated)
-order food platters
-final payments
-last dress fitting and pick up
-transfer most of my second bedroom down to Frostproof (all the wedding junk)
-Send lots and lots of thank you's
-Hair trim, mani, pedi
-find a hairstyle for the wedding, and a hairstylist
-create agendas for the days leading up to the wedding
-transportation
-

I'm going to have more to add, just wanted to write it down somewhere. Hope everyone enjoys the last half of November.
mini_lizziehow do you think you want your hair for the wedding?

5 weeks away 11-09-08 10:49pm EST
Our wedding is getting closer and I still have a lot to do. And why don't people RSVP? I know our cards didn't leave a spot for regrets but a lot of people have sent the cards back with 0 in the number of persons attending. It's frustrating me that we've invited 350 people and over 200 haven't responded yet. The requested reply by date is the 15th and I highly doubt I'm going to receive the rest of them and I really don't have the time to call all those people. For those of you who've hosted weddings what did you do in this situation? Did you call them or did you just guestimate? It's really making it difficult to plan for how much food we'll need and if we have enough chairs.

I'm done complaining now. My good friend Lisa was married in Vero Beach this weekend and it was beautiful! The day was perfect from beginning to end and she looked gorgeous.
meganMost people don't RSVP anymore which is sad. I ended up trying to contact many of them but even then (via email) I was ignored. I figured some people would've told me if they were coming so if they didn't respond I figured they weren't coming. But a lot of people RSVP'd to my mom...
karatemomJust guesstimate. I would guess if people haven't RSVP'd or personally told your mom, then they probably aren't coming. If you over guesstimate you can take all the food with you! (at least we got to)!
beckyrooWho knows why they don't send them back. I bet they put it in their purse to mail and keep forgetting to send it. :-)
jcreelI'm not sure if we RSVP'd, but we're coming. Please don't slap us! :)
jillorjac^you did...well at least your wife did.
jillorjac^^I had your flight information so I knew you were coming...it's mostly Stephen's family :(
carachelleMy mom did some calling but overall we just guessed. I think you will be surprised by how many RSVP's you get the week before. We would get anywhere from 15-25 a day in the week before the deadline and we sent out 200+ invitations. Good luck! I'm SO excited for you!
haileybaileybooWe got a lot the week of the deadline but still ended up with over 100 who didn't RSVP. We just added 50 to the number that did RSVP. Then we ended up with way too many chairs, but it worked out.
debsherbsoh wow, all the RSVP's I've received had stamps on them to send them back. I'm guilty of not sending some back, only because I was in so much pain, I kept forgetting. So if I forgot we just didn't go, we didn't want to put anyone out. I had so many RSVP to me instead of Jenny's mom and that was a little frustrating, I passed them on but it should go to the one who sent the invitations out. Sorry you haven't heard from everyone. Are you getting married in Phoenix? Take care!
jillorjac^they all had stamps which is another frustration! Lots of money spent to make sure we got things back. We're getting married in Florida and the people who haven't responded are mostly people I don't know.
mini_lizziedo i need to rsvp?
krisWe didn't receive very many of our RSVP's back. we sent out 400 invites, and knew that around 200 were out of towners. We just figured out how many out of towners were for sure coming, and then guestimated from there. We just said, okay" Maybe 200-250" will come. And we had 190 people there. We had TONS of food left, and we didnt' really even over estimate, so I'm sure that you will be fine. Where are you guys getting married Fl or Az?
mini_lizziethanks! i think that i might have to pick that book up! :)
cbridgesIf you need a total head count to the venue, or it's determining the size of cake you go with, I'd ask someone close to start calling. If it is Stephen's family who hasn't RSVP'd, I'd ask his mom or sister to help make phone calls. If they are on your side, you could ask your maid of honor or mom to help with phone calls. Seriously, if it's a difference of $100's or not having enough food at the reception, I'd start making some phone calls! Manda, Brad's wife, had to call some guests. They found out dozens of their invites weren't even received!

Scar and the Hyenas 11-05-08 08:07am EST
You know the scene in the Lion King when Scar takes over as King? It's dark and stormy and you see these eyes coming into the scene. As Scar announces that the hyena and lion are going to live in peace together, the eyes can finally be reconized as hyena as they step into the light. These hyena have realized what they are in store for - FOOD! But after an unknown period of time (while Simba is off Hakuna Matataing) the lions have nowhere to hunt and all of the animals (lion and hyena) are starving.

This is where I see America heading after an unknown period of time. I know I'm not looking forward to giving half of my paycheck to the hyenas who for whatever reason choose to not 'hunt' for themselves and expect the government to take care of them. I'm pretty sure I'm going to feel like Nala did, knowing that someone in power made a bad decision and we blindly followed because our ears were tickled.

These are just my thoughts and feelings. I sure hope I'm wrong and I sure hope that I get to keep more of my paycheck...otherwise I may go get a $10/hour job so I can benefit too! Oh and I really hope that the Department of Homeland Security stays intact!
krisHa!
mini_lizziewhat about quitting in general and applying for access?
karatemomThat's a good analogy!
bjmannI am mailing you veil today. Let me know if it is okay. Love you and so anxious for the wedding
haileybaileybooThat is a wonderful analogy! Very fitting. I don't have pictures posted anywhere yet. I'm waiting to get them back from our photographer, but I will post some as soon as I have them! :)
