Sounds like A LOT has been happening in your life!! I'm glad you're back at your old job. Sounds much better. :) That stinks you got pink eye! I didn't know that. Have fun this weekend!! Lots of fun stuff going on! yaaay!! p.s. I agree, going to Granny & Papa's is the best!! :)
Crazy about the job. Glad you're back somewhere you enjoy. Had fun seeing you at Granny & Papa's, but man are we gonna have fun doing the scavenger hunt night!!! Yippie!
i just got a call today from from a new job that i was looking into. it's a place called headstart which is a government sponsered pre-school for low income families.. i was hoping to get the job in stephenville as a teacher's assistant, but was offered a teacher's position in granbury for the two year old class... the way the program works is the teacher stays with the same kids all the way up until they are ready for kindergarden; so i will be with my twos until they "graduate" and then ill start back over with the infants and so on and so forth..it's going to be more of a drive, but i will be getting paid more than the other position so its worth it i guess...
i'm really excited!! i'm supposed to do orientaion and training on monday and tuesday in weatherford ALL DAY. awesome.
i leave for california in 6 days!!!! so stoked!!!!
I didn't know you were going to California!! Congratulations on ther new job! How long does it take to drive to Granbury? Who knows...maybe at some point you can move to a position in Stephenville. :)
wow, that's exciting! I've heard of that program before. I hope it all works out for you! So what's going on in California?? I've never been there before!
hehe thanks. I am glad that yall stand up for me! :) I miss you too. I was seriously so sad (and a little mad!!) that I didn't get to come visit when yall were in Leander! urg!! But I seriously want to plan a trip to Sville sometime!! So I'll have to make that happen soon. :)
About a week ago, lightning struck the ground just a few miles up from the creek that runs right thru the lodge.. forest services said that we were in no danger, that the fire was doing what they wanted it to do and moving in the opposite direction from where we are. All of the forest around the area is so dry and really is due for a good burning so, the forest service was going to just let it burn keep a good eye on it and that there was like a 1 in 1000 chance that anything would happen.
Well, over the past week, the smoke just kept getting worse and was going all the way to Cody (which is 40 miles away!!!!)
Everyone was still saying that we weren't in any danger and that there was nothing to worry about...
Yesterday started off pretty normal.. the wranglers took a breakfast ride out and when they came back, they said that most of the trail was on fire and that it was comming this way! Kerry (our boss) didnt believe them because the forest service hadn't said anything and they were still saying that everything was good. By lunch, helicopters were flying all over the sky picking up water from the river and dropping it on the fire because by that time the wind had shifted and the fire was QUICKLY spreading to our canyon moving and was about 1/2 mile from us.
By 2 pm forest services said that we werent evacuating but to be on call and that we had 6 hours before anything serious might happpen- so everyone started watering down ALL of the cabins, lodge EVERYTHING.. some of us started packing up things just in case we did have to evacuate.. the smoke all around the canyon was INCREDIBLE! i have never seen anything soooo massive..
by 2:45pm they said that we needed to be out of there by 4pm.. so much for 6 hours huh? So, everyone is scrambling to get all the horses moved out to a different location, pack valuable belongings for us, as well as the guest's luggage, keep spraying down structures and remain calm...
By 4pm fire was surrounding us on 3 sides comming down the sides of the canyon, firemen were telling us to get out right away that we needed to leave IMMEDIATELY..
We all had to go to the evacuation check-in at Wapiti school which is about 12 miles down the road- everyone made it out ok- Kerry and Theresa stayed at the lodge to help fight the fire because they refused to leave.. everyone else ended up staying in Wapiti last night and that is where we are today.. no one is allowed to go back to the lodge today, because the the firemen are back burning and it is too close to the buildings so it isnt safe.. i wish they would just put that thing out once and for all!!!!
I will let everyone know any updates when i hear something.. what a memory to have from the summer...
woah!!! That is so crazy and scary. I'm glad everyone is ok!! What are y'all doing now? Just taking it easy for a while?? I hope the ranch doesn't burn down!
um... lol, not gonna lie... i was lookin at your friends list on here and i couldn't find my name and i started to get sad... but then i saw "roomie!!" and clicked on it and it's me!! that's exciting!! 21 more days!!
