This and that 01-03-09 07:08am EST
Joel and I got home yesterday from his parents' house. We went there on Tuesday (Dec. 23). We had a great time. Joel spent a lot of time studying for a college entrance exam he is taking next week.

On the 24th we went to his aunt and uncle's house (who live very close to his parents). We had a wonderful meal and lots of talking. We all stayed up past midnight (a tradition here in Brazil).

Then on the 26th a group of us went on a hike at a place not too far from my in-laws house. When we left it was overcast and we forgot sunscreen. The sun came out while we were there and I got home bright red. Everyone who saw me nearly panicked because it was the day before my sister-in-law's wedding. Luckily overnight the sunburn was gone!

On the 27th was my sister-in-law's wedding. It all went great. I have posted some pictures on facebook. If you want to see them the link is http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=78359&l=c5acb&id=612769858 (I don't know how to link it, so copy and paste it!!). At the wedding we were able to get some neat pictures such as Joel's grandparents with all but two of their grandkids (I'll have to post that one later... it's still on my laptop) and his grandparents with all 8 of their children.

On the 31st we went to Joel's aunt's house again. This time we has an even larger group. Just before midnight a group of us went into town to watch the fireworks. We then went back and stayed up til about 2 a.m. talking.

Yesterday (2nd), we left my in-laws' and went straight to mom and dad's house for a delicous meal!

Happy New Year to all!!!

Here is the pciture of Joel's grandparents with 19 out of 21 of their grandchildren. On the right side, the oldest grandchild is holding the youngest grandchild. Also 2 out of 3 of the greatgrandchildren are in the picture!

Holidays 12-16-08 11:36am EST
The holidays are sneaking up on us!!! So little time, so much to do!!!

This year we're going out to my in-laws house for Christmas and New Years. We usually go out there for Christmas (my family doesn't do anything at Christmas time) but this year we decided to stay for New Years too. It's been two years since we spent New Years with Joel's parents. Most of his family will be togther on New years eve... which means lots of food and fun! We're taking Phase 10 and Jenga. Last year one group stayed up until 3 am on Christmas morning playing Phase 10. This year we actually have two sets of Phase 10 so more people will be able to play if they want to.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS
hmjmomHave a good time with your in-laws.
bgSounds like you all will have fun and I hope you do! Happy holidays to you too!

Nothing much 11-20-08 08:24am EST
I decided it was time for a new update, mainly because I'm tired of looking at my last one.

Today is a holiday here. Joel, Fabio and Raul are out bike riding. Their paln was to go to the highest place in São Paulo (city). It''s about 40 miles each way so they'll be gone most of the day. On the way back they may get the train.

I guess that's all for now.
clickwow, that's cool. have a great holiday! :)
bgi don't think i would even make it very far in the first place. but I hope they have a good time! Have a great day!

Something to think about 11-05-08 07:02am EST
“...till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.” (Daniel 4:25 NKJV)

“"Therefore do not worry , saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

"For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things .

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day [is] its own trouble.”
(Matthew 6:31-34 NKJV)

No matter how bad the economy may get, no matter what laws may or may not be approved, as Christians "this world is not our home, we're just passing through". If all the policital/economical problems have you worried, pray and forget about them. Live your life the way you should and you'll receive what you deserve... maybe not in this life, but in eternity you will.

--------------

Remember:
GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE IS THE CHURCH, THE TRUE CHRISTIANS, THE FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, THE FIRSTBORN WHO ARE WRITTEN IN HEAVEN, not people from specific physical countries!
hmjmomVery good thoughts!
