Your name was lit up but when I clicked, I saw nothing new. S. asked if I'd seen the van & told me about your changes. I have a question; why did you put the headline ^ there in public but then put the answer in private, where not everywhere could see it?
For the past two months, Christina and I have been "gaming the system" or commonly called being a "grocery-gamer". This is so popular that Good Morning America did a special on it and interviewed the founder Teri Gault. It is quite simple. You buy a newspaper, store the coupons, and find the deals for the week for area stores using the current weeks coupons and all past week coupons. "Why do you need to subscribe to this?" you may ask. Because 4 circulars x 3 months of coupons x 2-3 coupon circulars = a lot of time to try to find the deals.
The past CVS visit we bought $132 dollars worth of items for only $28 (+ $11 worth of ECB for future visits and a $40 mail-in rebate offer). How did we get this deal? CVS offers ECB (extra care bucks) when you buy certain products and also if you scan their card at a kiosk, you can get additional coupons.
After services Sunday night, we went to Mr Gatti's where we learned how much of a beast we have created. I showed my NRECC card for a 10% discount and as I was paying with Andrew sitting on the island, Andrew reaches in his pocket and pulls out "coupons" (imaginary ones) and handed them to the cashier. She smiled and accepted them. After a minute, he reached back in and said "I got another one" and handed it to her. We've created a MONSTER! To see the monster, just ask him what he has in his pocket.
Also, if you ever just pass a Meijer's or CVS, Andrew will immediately go nuts and say he wants to go their and use his coupons.
Tonight we went to K-Mart as they are having a double-coupon event for up to and including $2 coupons. One item they advertised was Gillette Shampoo (2 for $7) and there was a coupon in the paper (expiring 10/31) for $2.00 off any one (1) Gillette shampoo or conditioner. For you non-math majors that is a shampoo on sale for $3.50 and having $2 coupon doubled up to the price of the product so it was FREE. Unfortunately, the K-Mart down here did not carry the shampoo but it was in their circular. I immediately came home and send them an email about the whole situation...did I mention I waited like 20 minutes for an associate to finally help. They just emailed back saying they have forwarded my request to the appropriate personnel. We'll see what turns up of this episode.
Stay tuned...same bat time, same bat channel.
***Edit:: I also forgot to mention that we will not be running out of the following items any time soon:
Next week (November 2-8), Target will have select varieties of Kellogg's cereal on sale for $2.75. They will also be having a free gift card promotion: buy any 5 boxes of Kellogg's cereal and get a free instant $5 gift card. There are Brick's printable coupons for $1 off any 10oz or larger box of Kellogg's cereal (this post has a link which will allow you to print up to 6 coupons; credit goes to
Love is not a place
to come and go as we please
It's a house we enter in
then commit to never leave
So lock the door behind you
Throw away the key
Work it out together
Let it bring us to our knees
Love is a shelter
in a raging storm
Love is peace
in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave;
May God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight
but it's something worth fighting for
To some love is a word
that they can fall into.
But when they're falling out
keeping that word is hard to do
Love is a shelter
in a raging storm
Love is peace
in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave;
May God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight
but it's something worth fighting for
Love will come to save us
If we'll only call
He will ask nothing from us
but demand we give our all
Love is a shelter
in a raging storm
Love is peace
in the middle of a war
And if we try to leave;
May God send angels to guard the door
No, Love is not a fight
but its something worth fighting for.
'Cause I Will Fight For You
Would You Fight For Me?
It's Worth Fighting For.
We started by dropping the kids off at Yaya's. After we dropped them off, we went to Chili's for supper. Then we went to the movies. Even though we had just eaten, it was a movie date so we stopped and got popcorn and drinks. The movie theater was packed.
The movie itself was awesome. As Deborah has pointed out, there was 0 profanity in it. Fireproof is rated PG for thematic material (a married couple have increasingly loud and angry arguments, a man is said to be looking at online porn although it is never shown, a woman sues for divorce and contemplates adultery, a man comes to Christ) and some peril (firefighters rescue a car that is trapped on a railroad, as well as a child trapped in a burning house).
There are some items of religious error but for a movie to have some many Biblical concepts (lust=adultery) and so many Bible verses read in the movie, it was amazing. It has some deep concepts we have been studying about in Bible Class on the class on MDR (i.e. permanence of marriage - super glue two items together, and if you break it apart you end up breaking both items, or marriages being fireproof does not mean fires will not come and try your marriage but it is how you deal with them.)
I would strongly urge all people to go see the movie or if it is not available in your area, contact your local theater requesting it. It will benefit you and others.
Back to our date, after the movie we talked to some fellow Christians from Valley Station who also saw the movie. Then we went back to Chili's for dessert (Chocolate Chip Cookie Molten Cake). Lastly, it was back to Darlene's to pick up Leah, as Andrew was spending the night.
Yeah, we probably splurged a little on the date but it was our first date without kids in over a year.
