Well, we went to the doctor today, and he said that Lottie has a touch of the croop...not sure how you spell that. So he gave her something to stop her vocal chords from swelling. Basically to stop her "goose calling" cough! :) Bless her heart, she has been a trooper! We had her out tonight to do some much needed grocery shopping, and she just sat in her chair with a look that said, "Hurry up, and take me home, and put me to bed." But never a cry! She really has developed a great disposition.
And Joey is no worse for the wear. Because of Lottie's appointment this morning, he got to go spend the morning with his favorite sitters, Jessica and Jordan Shaver. He loves those girls! All I heard after I picked him up was, "I saw Jordan. I saw Jejica!" I think we have a crush on our hands! I always thought I would have more time than this!
hi! i never am on pleo anymore. i hope lottie is on the mend. no good mother is happy when her litte one is ill. much rather have the illness yourself than to see your child in pain or ill. when will you be here again? about potty training...my guys were nearly 3!!! I was discouraged, but you know, ALL people finally get potty trained. Don't stress about it or measure yourself by it. You are a great mom...he is just not ready.
Happy Anniversary!!!!!! Have fun and see you soon! Thank you for your kind words and I am NOT laughing at you. In 20 years you'll sit in my seat. I really love being middle aged. I am not as driven...my house isn't as clean either, but I enjoy my kids more than when I was trying to be perfect.
Did I ever respond to you about getting together over the holidays?! I forget!! Dad, Mom and the kids are actually coming down here to my grandparents for Christmas, so we won't be in Columbia...I'm sure we'll be up there again within the next few months though! Hope to see you sometime soon! :) Glad Lottie's on the mend! Hope she gets completely well soon!!
I deleted your comment, so your email address isn't floating around. :) Oh, and our website is very much un-finished and not the way we want it, but we've had terrible luck with website designers. :)
Thanks! Happy New Year to you all, too!! Sorry about Lottie. Just a regular cough is terrible and interrupts sleep (plus it hurts). Can't even imagine a more serious one. Your kids do have sweet dispositions. (I think they inherited it. :-)
you make me happy! how are the children? did you have a nice new year's celebration? we had a nice gathering of the brethren and i think it went well. it was out first time to have anyone over besides kids. have a great weekend and keep glowing! :)
Because of the discouraging lack of progress, and the advice of others, I had decided to put off potty training for a little while. I had decided to let Joey tell me when he was ready, or wanted to try to use the potty. And at least everyday, he would run up to me, stamping his feet very fast, saying, "I change! I change!" To which I would reply, "Do you need to go potty?" And the answer would assuredly be, "No, I change!" EVERY DAY!!! I could not get through to him that a change of diaper would not help him to feel better.
And today was no exception, until about 3:30 pm! He once again, for the umpteenth time today, came up to me saying, "I change! I go potty!" Now earlier in the day, I was excited to hear those words. But once we got to the bathroom he was in tears saying, "I don't want to go potty. I don't want to be a big boy!" So, not wanting my child to have issues later in life, I let him go put on a diaper. Well, this time was different. He sat on the potty and actually used it!!! Woo hoo!! Sweet victory!! But he still cried, and acted like it hurt him! How do I comfort him and let him know that it is not a scary thing? Ugh, I am so confused, and elated all at the same time!! Please help me, you experienced mothers out there!
Well, on a lighter note, here are a couple of recent pictures of the munchkins! Love you all!!
Mom told me about a technique where you use a baby doll to teach them to use the potty.I think you show them how to use it with the baby doll, and then try to have them show you how's it's done with the baby doll, and then do it themselves. I hope that made sense and I'm sure you've heard of it.I don't know if Joey teaching the baby doll to use the potty would make it a litle less scary for him or not.Anyway, I'm definitely not an experienced mother... but I'm very excited for you and I hope he keeps it up!
I just stumbled onto your page...I hope you don't mind. I had the same problem with my middle child, Dylan. When I started potty training him he would sit on the potty and cry and cry. I couldn't figure out why he was crying. I was just as consistant as I could be and I kept putting him on the potty. He eventually got the hang of it and he has absolutely no problems with it now...he is 3 1/2 now but I started potty training him at 2 1/2. I think what helped the most is I took a week and didn't go anywhere. During that week I let him run around with out anything on his bottom. I took him to the bathroom every 15 minutes and then gave him two M&M's and A LOT of praise when he did something. This worked with both of my sons. I'm not sure why it worked but it worked great. This might be a little hard to do in the winter though :)
Well, the season is upon us! Every year Scott and I say that we are NOT getting up at the crack of dawn to go shopping on Black Friday, but almost inevitably we hear of a great sale, and our alarms get set! Ugh, we lack conviction this time of year...with this, and me with the food that swarms around us!! Fortunately/unfortunately, our family is filled with good cooks, so when we travel back home on Saturday, our car may be traveling a little lower to the ground than on the trip North. :) I guess one more thing to be thankful for, our bellies will be full, and we will have had enough to eat! I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving, and please be safe!
With all my love,
Lari
P.S. Joey and I wanted to share our favorite video! Jack Johnson is my favorite singer, and Curious George is one of Joey's many favs! Enjoy!
Thanks! I love the video! I saw the Alps last winter. A friend and I spent a couple weeks in Europe visiting Elizabeth Hanson Wisecaver and Carl Wisecaver. It was tons of fun!
Well, who knows what a difference a day can make!! Scott called me from work on Thursday to say that not only was he going to have Friday off due to some construction at work, but that they were also given Monday because the work wouldn't be done over the weekend!! SO, instead of sitting at home all weekend, (and probably getting a lot of needed chores done) we decided to call up his aunt and family in Gulf Breeze, FL for a quick visit! We packed up the kids, and drove south! We brought our costumes, and went trick-or-treating in the warm Florida air instead of the cool, crisp Alabama air. Ahhhh, I just love the beach atmoshpere! His aunt also surprised us with a coupon to a restaurant on the beach for just the two of us!! We went tonight, and had a great time. But Lottie was a little less happy with the situation and cried most of the time we were gone. :( I guess she is more of a Mama's girl than I thought.
Hope everyone's Halloween was a fun one! How did you spend the fright night?
I used to know what it was like to have 2 little ones. It was something I thought I'd never forget, but I forget how much work little ones are. I just know it's a lot and I don't think I could do it now.
The movie goes along with the book very well. I will definitely be buying it (and just looking away at the one part that nearly made me sick). The book is great, but beware, it's pretty sappy...teenage sappy anyway.
I just wanted to let you guys know about some great pictures that were taken yesterday by a very talented lady! Go to www.lifescapturedmoments.smugmug.com and then look under client galleries, and then children. Joey and Lottie are the first set on that page! I am biased but I thought they were cute! Much love to you all!
I ask Deborah (friend who was on WOF) to send me the info about this weekend. Cindy is doing our wedding pictures, I'm so excited. She does wonderful work.

The freezer on bottom looks nice, unfortunately it's a bit out of our budget price range. For now, I think I'll stick with the freezer on top. I've heard a lot of people complain about the narrow width of the side-by-side. Thanks for your input! :)
