What a week! 11-26-08 10:01am CST
Happy (early) Thanksgiving everybody! :)

I hope everyone is able to enjoy time with family and friends and eat a big ol' meal :)

I had work Monday morning and had one class Monday afternoon, and then I left Stephenville and met my dad in Evant to work on our house there. We worked for a few hours and as the sun was going down, we decided we better pack up and leave. He was leading the way in his truck and I was following in mine. About a mile out of town, my truck over-heated and when we pulled over and I killed it, I'm pretty sure one of the hoses from the radiator busted and steam and water went EVERYWHERE! Luckily Dad was there...we were able to get it back to the Evant house, and I just rode to Leander with him. We still haven't gone back to look at my truck to see if we could get it fixed, because my dad's been working. We'll see what happens I guess...

Last night was our only opportunity to have a family dinner with our whole family before Dianna and Ryan left for Lufkin, so we had a good meal with the whole family and that was fun!

I'm so glad my boss let me off work yesterday and today, and that I had nearly an entire week off! :)

Only a couple of weeks til graduation!

Be thankful that we have a Lord like this:

"The Lord abides forever;
He has established his throne for judgment,
And he will judge the world in righteousness;
He will execute judgment for the peoples with equity.
The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed,
A stronghold in times of trouble,
And those who know thy name will put their trust in thee;
For Thou, O Lord, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee."

♥ Love love! ♥
bethoumyvisioni agree. how about a starbucks date? just the two of us. it's on me. mondays and tuesdays are pretty much a no for me. thursdays are usually good days. and i know that you don't have class fridays, so maybe we could some thursday when i get out of school, at 3:40! this thursday is out, though. when do finals start and end for you? mine start the 15-19, and i'll get out at 11:10. sorry this was long, haha. you can reply in a text if you want :)
anuttyHappy Thanksgiving to you!! You know why your truck broke down don't you? You left Stephenville!! Ha! Tell everyone hi!
kimgriffithThat stinks that your truck broke down but at least your Dad was close by. Is the house in Evant a house you are moving into or your parents eventually? Hope you have a great thanksgiving!!
misslynnHow wonderful that your Dad was there at the exact moment your truck died! I hope it is easily fixed so that you will have wheels again soon. How exciting about graduation! Have a great T-Bird Day!
windham4lifeIt was fun that we all got to be together last night! That stinks about your truck though! See ya tonight!
texanmandyWow! How unfortunate about your truck! I hope you get it fixed! On a happier note, it was amazing seeing you tonight!!
viarostultegaYou're one of the first people to be jealous of me :).
viarostultegaOpe, just read about your truck...get it fixed yet?
viarostultegaWell that's very nice of your parents. Hopefully there's not too much work that needs to be done. I'm feeling a lot better, but I'm now into coughing fits, so hopefully I won't cough up my lungs or anything. That wouldn't be good at all.
texanmandyGood luck on your finals too!
sheshei heard a rumor...you're graduating from college on the 13th!! congratulations!!

First of all, thank you ALL so much for your awesome ideas for my photo story. Man, yall are creative! I have decided that I'm actually going to try to shoot a couple different stories, and then turn in the one I think turned out best...so thanks again for your ideas!

This weekend I went to Killeen with Jen to visit Tiffany and Jesse. They are such great hosts, and I had a lot of fun! Jesse also showed us around Fort Hood. It was my first time there, and I got some great pictures. We went to one of the memorial walls with the names of people who have died in Iraq, and I was so sad and thankful that so many men and women have given their lives to protect us.

Next week is Thanksgiving!! Hooray! :)
misslynnBring on the turkey!!
diannaI'm sure being at Ft Hood was a meaningful experience. Glad you and Jen were able to enjoy spending the weekend with Tiff and Jesse. :) I'm soooo ready for Thanksgiving and family!!
kimgriffithThat sounds so awesome. I think schools should take children there. Instead of complaining about the war we need to remember and appreciate all those who are willing to put their lives on the line so we have the freedoms we do.
kendralulu^I agree! ~ Hope your project turns out well! :)
campmagicmanglad T and J are doing well
diannaWell, you know how it goes around here. ;) I also gave Ben another Mommy haircut today. You'll have to see it. :)
windham4lifealmost Thanksgiving! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkk!!! :)
csusoftballgirlGraduation is so close!!! Hang in there for a couple more weeks
windham4lifeIs Chrystal going to be home too? And everyone?? We will probably come if it's okay with Jesse.

In my Photography class, we are pitching ideas to the professor for photo story ideas. This is an assignment that we will be working on for the next month (due at the beginning of December) and will count as the grade for our final.

A photo story is exactly what it says: it's a story told with photos. Our particular assignment is to tell a photo story using about 7 photos.

Some examples the professor gave included "a day in the life of a fireman," "poverty in inner-city Detroit," and photos of figurines "reinacting" Custer's last stand. One of the girls in my class is going to do her photo story on the life of her widowed sister and the struggles she has raising her kids. Another girl is doing "a day in the life of a tattoo artist."

I'm having a lot of trouble coming up with a good idea for the photo story. I really think I'm just over-thinking it, but my professor is kind of a stickler and prides himself on making people cry by cutting down their ideas (literally today he was bragging about how he made someone in another class cry).

SO, if any of you have any photo story ideas or anything, please let me know...I'd really appreciate any input or ideas! Thanks!!

tylerhairstonhmmm... I have always thought people in nursing homes are really interesting. They often times have so many interesting stories to tell about their life, although they sometimes have very few people to share it with. I kind of think it would be interesting to know more about a day in the life of a nursing home patient. You could probably find some pretty powerful and moving pictures there. Maybe even moving enough to make your teacher cry.
tylerhairstonAlso our cousing Barry Simons I believe works for one of the news stations in austin. Maybe he could get you a behind the scenes look at at news station. Good luck with your project!
csusoftballgirlhow about "Day in Starbucks" ? There are SO many people with SO many stories going into Starbucks every morning and night. You could even do "Day and Night at Starbucks" and capture the differenet photographic moods occuring at those different times.
tylerhairstonsorry about the above spelling error, it should say cousin!
tylerhairstonOr you could do a story about a hospital. there are probably some good pictures to be taken there!
tylerhairstonOR...sorry I know I am getting carried away with all these ideas. You might possibly do something about a day in the life of a college football player. You could follow Jordan Shipley aroun for a day at UT. I could maybe even get in touch with him for you. Just a thought.
meagan_dWhat about doing something as far as your horses? A lot of us know how BIG into horses you are and that would be a neat idea to do a picture story over! THAT'S what I think you should do!!! :D
tylerhairstonmaybe Jessie could get you onto the army base in Killeen and you could do something cool there.
meagan_dSo what are some of your ideas as far as different pictures??? I'm interested in your ideas!!! :D
misslynnIf you like Tyler's idea about the nursing home, I could take you to meet my mother and you could do photos of her.
skilario"The life of a photograph."
misslynnWhat about a day in the life of a horse? Or the life of a teacher? You should have followed me around at the hospital for surgery!
iamchriswindhamthe story of making a BK stacker mountain. But seriously, try something outside the box other than "the day in the life of ____ ". But maybe you could think of something cool
misslynnHow about the days of creation - no words, just photos! You could get in the seven photos, and wind up with a really great book for pre-reading kids! But, Chris is right - outside the box is probably good for this assignment.
windham4lifeThe military thing that Tyler mentioned might be cool. We could definitely get you on base if that's something you're interested in...hhhmmm...that's a tough one. With the ideas that your professor gave you, it sounds like he wants something moving & emotional. I bet you'll do good, but that's pretty insane (and mean!!) that he prides himself on making people cry.
skilarioHaha, I love it! It sounds like great fun :) Let me know how your project turns out, whatever story you choose!
kendraluluNeat project! Whatever you decide to do...have fun with it!! :)
diannaSounds like everyone has thrown out some great ideas. Makes the ones I came up with silly. Let me know which one you decide to go with!
diannaOh...just thought of one. You can follow the day of Thanksgiving. From prep to eating to football, games, relaxing, and the end of the day clean up. Maybe silly...I don't know.
christenaYou could do "The Story of Life" and have pictures of a flower growing and blooming, then wilting and dying. Or you could have a story of someone moving away from a home they loved. You could have pictures of them enjoying the home and swinging on a tire swing or something, then packing boxes and putting up a for sale sign, then driving off at the end. Just some ideas :) It sounds like a fun project though, you’ll do good!
texastinawhat about telling the story of a memory, and find symbols that walk the viewer through something special to you. or... the story of worship, you could include photos of prayer, or singing, of reflection, of study, etc.
pistal77"the making of a teacher" starring me!!
tylerhairstonI'm so sure...I bet the real reason he didn't want you to do the nursing home/ hospital project was because it would have made him cry. You should do it and then everyone in class could laugh and point as he cried! JUST KIDDING! Love you longtime!
katcoxThanks! It was fun being with all of you again. I hope you get a job here so you can be around all the time again!
csusoftballgirlWhat great suggestions. I especially liked Lynn's creation idea and Dianna's post-Thanksgiving idea. Have you picked a theme yet?

This weekend was really great!

Friday night I went to hamilton with Jen, Steph, Craig, and Mark. It was great to hang out with them and stay with my grandparents.

Saturday morning I had to get up early to come back to Stephenville for Texan Tour to represent Rec Sports. Hundreds of high school students who are considering Tarleton come to check out what we're all about.

Saturday night I had an absolute blast hanging out with some great friends and one of my favorite families on earth to celebrate Chad's birthday!...Chris made the night even better by coming up for a quick visit to the 'ville.

Sunday marked the beginning of our Gospel Meeting at Westside in Stephenville. If you're in the area, try to make it out this week!
bethoumyvisionyour family is absolutely one of my favorite families, too!
diannaSounds like you had a really great and busy weekend. I think you need to come see me so you can relax. ;)

Happy Halloween! 10-29-08 09:35am CST
Things around Tarleton have been pretty halloween oriented this week. Last night was our annual Halloween Carnival. Several organizations set up booths and kids from town and nearby towns come dressed up to go trick-or-treating through the dorms and then participate in the carnival afterwards. I didn't get to go this year because I had class, but Chrystal, Stephanie, and Jennifer were all there and said it was a lot of fun!

After seeing how much fun Jen and Steph were having carving pumpkins, I decided to get one of my own and try it out. I wanted to do more than one design, but I didn't want to have to buy more than one pumpkin, so I just put a different design on 4 different sides of the pumpkin...lol. I think it turned out pretty fun though. Here are some pictures (the last pumpkin picture is my favorite), and have a Happy Halloween!
