yes.school has started back. not too thrilled- but.sometimes the assignments are beneficial-- it does make you think about whats important.
Family. Most of us have a family in some way, shape or form. It is our families that raise us and help shape us into who we become. Our families change our lives every day even though we may not realize it. Even those who are no longer in our lives impact and make a difference in us.
My grandpa passed away a couple of years ago, which is something my heart will never forget. But to ease my grief, I think back to what kind of person he was and all that he did. He lived a life that was to the fullest and thrived in many ways; he was a war veteran, musician, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Even with all of these things done in his life he was no where to being perfect, but then again, no one is. As my grandfather, I loved him with every depth of my heart. He would sing to me and give me nick-names and tell me all his old stories, which I never grew tired of. More importantly, I’m proud to say, he was a Christian, masking his flaws in God’s eyes. Knowing that my grandpa was a Christian and ready to leave this world made saying good-bye a little easier. Then it hit me. What if he wasn’t a believer and ready to go?
If my grandpa hadn’t believed and decided to live for God before his death, it would have been too late for him to try and turn his life around, but it’s not for me. I have always known that my life would end some day, but it wasn’t until the passing of my grandpa that I truly realized that I don’t have forever; I’m not invincible. Life isn’t an on-going, continuous cycle- there is an end. Do we know exactly when that end will come? No. But if we all did, how would we live our lives; different, the same? This made me think about what I have done in my life and what I need to do. I only have one life to live and I don’t want to look back one day and regret parts of it. I don’t want to say that to my children or grandchildren when I’m older.
I’m now aware that my life, and yours, is made up of the time we are here on earth and what we do with that time is our own decision. So, when I say ‘Oh I’m just killin’ time…I have nothing better to do’, what I’m really doing is killing my life. I can’t take back the minute that just passed; we can’t take back any of our time, so why waste it not doing your best and what’s right for you. Like I said before, we don’t know when our last breath will be; when our time will stop. I’ve learned to spend my time and life to be the best Christian person I can be- like my grandfather had.
