...Sabrina on the tv commercials! I saw her 2 nights in a row; Sun. & Mon. I think one was on WAVE & one was on WDRB.
I'm going to have to return my pearls. I don't like the clasp they have on them. Everything I've gotten from that jewelry store, I've had to have the clasps replaced. I haven't decided if I'm going to do that or just exchange them for the ring I wanted. T. said I had 30 days to exchange them or get in store credit. I almost fainted when he gave me the receipt; he spent way-y-y- too much money! I had forgot to mention this but when I opened them, all I could think of was T.'s mom. Not too long before she died, she said she had always wanted some nice pearls. None of us ever knew that!
Thanks for all the belated b-day wishes. I'll tell you the nicest thing anyone ever did for me for my b-day (that wasn't family.) Back while we were members at M. Rd., we had that car wreck (in May) & had to live with my parents for awhile. When my b-day came, a couple months later, I got all these cards in the mail; some came to mom's address & some went to our house. I could not imagine what was going on. I didn't think that many people even realized when my b-day was. Finally someone told me what happened. An older lady in the congregation had called some of the members on the phone & talked to others at church. She wanted me to get as many cards as possible because she knew I was having a really hard time with everything. She knew I didn't quite feel like celebrating & thought that would help. I just couldn't believe it. She was a very sweet person & I really liked her. I know to some people, that doesn't seem like much. She didn't have to go anywhere, prepare anything, spend money, etc. However, she did what she could. (If I'm not mistaken, I still have the items that she made for S. when she was born. Perky, if you're reading this, I still have what your mom made for S. too.)

Last Tues. was my actual b-day. I had a coupon for my free burger so we went to Red Robin in the St. Matthews mall. We ordered & ate & things were going fine. I thought the girl was bringing our check but she asked if I wanted my free sundae. I didn't even know I got one. I asked what kind they had & then said no thanks. She asked T. & S. if they wanted it, which he did since it was free. I told her to go on & bring it out & she said they had to sing! WHAT? So they came out, sung & gave me balloons! There was the cutest little boy sitting across from us & he was very well behaved so I gave him my balloons.
Once we got home, it was time for presents, cards & cake. I could not believe the card from T. It didn't say 50 or over the hill but it sure mentioned getting older! S.'s card was cute too. It talked about the F word, which was fifty! S. got me a "red hat" pin! She had also picked up some "stuff" for me at the fair. I received an AARP magazine/book, AARP fan, AARP nail file & a book on long term care insurance. (Actually, I had gone to Edward Jones on Mon., to discuss the insurance & get rates.) I also got a box of my fav. kind of Girl Scout cookies! (Which are now gone.)
Mom hadn't given me my card Mon. night but said she would give it to me on Tues. night, when we went to pick up dad's truck to drive to B.G. Well, I didn't get it then either. (I was beginning to wonder if there were more surprises.) However, on Wed. evening, I finally got it. I could not believe it! She has never given me a card like that! Her cards usually say daughter & are very sweet, etc. I think dad must have had a hand in picking that one out.
My former b-i-l said he left my card on his desk at work. My sis said she would give me her card later. I still don't have them, which is no big deal, but I wonder if I should start getting nervous!
Wed. evening when we returned from B.G., my dear neighbor had cake for us! On Fri. night, T. & I went to Gatti's in Shep. to get my free buffet & he got $1 off his. B-days can make you eat alot! I wonder if Kingfish still gives you a free sandwich on your b-day? I know Baskin Robbins gives you a free cone but I don't care for them & there's not one around here close.
BTW, I still can't believe you only have to be 50 for AARP. I thought it stood for "Retired Persons"? I'm not retired; I'm just now going back to work. |
