Climbing a Mountain :) 10-13-08 09:26am EST

How do you my model pose with my hair in wind? :)

I figured it was time for some pictures and updates on the girls.
They are....drum roll........ POTTY TRAINED!! Can you believe it? What a milestone.
They know their ABCs, can count to 20(with a little help),learning how to recognize the alphabet and numbers on paper, we are working on our primary colors.
It is fun to watch them learn and grow. I didn't know they could learn these things so early. I am very excited about it. I am searching for ideas and more learning tools for this age. So if you have any suggestions or websites please let me know.

Our Church services struggles are still difficult but I have learned to just accept it as another milestone. I have tried to incorporate several sit down quiet times at home through out each day hoping that it will help train them to sit through services better. Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement.

As of this weekend... we have fought our first cold of winter. Luckily, it is very mild. Just a low fever and runny nose.. and one tired momma from staying up late 3 nights in row.... building immune systems one cold at a time!

a_shipleycute cute family! lovin the model pose. haha. wow those girls are growing! and congrats on mac's promotion!
rachierachGreat pictures... and yes, I LOVE the model pose! That's funny! Yeah, for being fully potty-trained! I knew you could do it! :) Hopefully we'll see you soon!

sherelynGreat to "see" you! The girls are sure growing up! They do eventually learn to sit through services. Sometimes I felt like a yo-yo, but it finally got better. Just hang in there consistently.
jollyhollydayLove the pictures. And Yay for the potty training. Life has been so much easier with Lydia potty trained.

plumbguruCongratulations on a huge milestone, Kandi! (This is Manda's mom, not dad) ;)
kaytHi Kandi, this is Kay Turner/Alvin, TX I just got on pleonast. Congratulations for you and Mac, loved seeing the pict of the girls, have not seen a pict of them since you moved
pleovillinhere's a shout out to my Office group members. Keepin it real cuz we know where it's at.
francesYour twins are so cute. I feel with you in regard to taking them out at church. With our first one, Kathy, she had a high shrill voice, and when her Daddy would go to the pulpit to preach she would start squealing in her high suprano voice, so out I must go. I remember one service when I made 5 trips out, and I wasn't very popular with some older ladies. One told me she thought Kathy had some physical problem. Anyway, I was persistent and I WON!. Kathy learned her Mommy was boss. Hang in there.

Wedding bells.... 08-01-08 08:29am EST
One of my dearest friends is getting married today. She truly means a lot to me. I love her very much! It is breaking my heart that I will not be there today. So, I wanted to dedicate this blog to her. If you'd like please some advice or best wishes ...
Let her know that dreams really do come true with God on our side.. :) She knows that I am sure but it couldn't hurt to remind her and everyone else.
I love you Amanda and I hope everything turns out the way you planned it today.
uogirWhelp...no comments but that's okay dear Kandi. Everything did go perfectly on Friday, and I had a blast! The past three days have been wonderful! I love ya sweets!
bigdeborahadvice: give each other a kiss every night as you go to sleep, even if you've had an arugement or disagreement. It helps remind you both that you still love each other and focus on that as you go to sleep.
gromit57Something to realize is that, if you are having arguments, that isn't necessarily bad! I've had people tell me that they "never" argue. To me that just says that 1.) they must be pretty bored by now if they always agree on every little thing ;) or 2) they don't communicate period. So, arguing means that you are truly speaking your minds and hearts to each other, which can actually be good, if done in the right spirit and tone. :) So there's my $0.02 ;)
gromit57Btw, Kandi, I really need to get your phone # and catch up! My email is still Gromit57@msn.com, if you wouldn't mind sending it to me! I've been thinkging about you guys, and hoping all is well! :)

Terrible Twos... does it really exist? 07-31-08 08:28am EST
I think I am actually feeling to threat of the terrible twos. My girls are really giving me harder times these days. They want their way and they want it now. I think they have actually started talking back to me. Every time ask one of them to come to me or to pick up a toy (etc.) immediately, " no mommy, not want to pick up toy." Especially, the potty training stuff. ... I'll say, " Okay girls, let's go potty." And immediately I get back "no potty, not want potty momma." They have also picked up on fighting with each other. I have to really watch them. They are slapping and kicking each other. Most of the time they play well together but all of the sudden I'll catch a girl hitting the other for a toy or something. Oh... and at Church... it is beginning to be a nightmare. I feel like I am center of attention having to get up and take the girls to back. This happens like 5 times a service. Afterwards, I feel like the room is spinning. I bet I have this look of fret on my face. I feel like I discipline and discipline and .... it is just not working. AH.... I know it takes time. I am really being consistent on my discipline. It just seems like it is just getting tougher. Do they grow out of some of this stuff or is it all me (discipline)? Oh.. I am trying the time out chair this week. Do I need supernanny? :) Is this terrible twos or just testing kids?
Welcome to motherhood, right?
sarai_31I was like that at two and it did get better with lots of consistent discipline. It took a while though. Or so I'm told. :)
zanneBoth of the boys started the "terrible twos" way before they were two. Kalee decided to act all sweet and then became demon child at about 2 1/2. J/K about the demon child comment! ;-0 Justbe firm and consistent and with time it does get better! We used to have to take Shad otu a minimum of 5 times a service. Try not to let others get to you too much. Just do what's best for the girls!! And breathe deeply! It's only just beginning!! :-)
rachierachOh, girl... I totally sympathize! The two's are HARD! And it doesn't appear that three is much easier! Lydia is becoming more and more "challenging", although I'm not sure that she will be quite as much as Natalie. I really struggle with Natalie. She really knows how to push my buttons, and some days (more days than not), I feel like I'm constantly battling her. Everyone says it gets easier after they turn 4.
bigdeborahHi Kandi! Deborah (Halbrook) Williams here. sounds like you are having lots of...adventures! :) My oldest brother, Jonathan, has twins, a boy and a girl, almost 1 year and 3 months old. I am so excited about seeing them next month-I've only seen them 3 times! Anyway, hope today is a good day for you and your precious girls. They are beautiful!
littlelambWe're hitting it with Charlotte right now, too. Rosie never went through it, so now they are going through it together. The biggest break through lately has been the introduction of the rubber band into our house. I got so tired of spanking all the time and a friend of mine showed me how she snaps a rubber band on them. They call it a pop and it hurts so badly! We use one of the thick ones and I wear it on my wrist at all times when the kids are awake. It has really cut down on the number of spankings (or pops) they get and they are starting to listen to me better.
shanda2's are hard, 3's are harder, and 4's are a breath of fresh air. I felt like I spanked for 2 years and then suddenly it clicked. The book Creative correction saved my sanity. It made it more like a game and a challenge to teach them rather than frustrating drudgery. My boys are just now starting to fight (here I thought I was going to get lucky on that one).
a_shipleysounds like everyone i talk to says the same things about 2. weeeeeeird.. ill just adopt at 4 lol
bigdeborahThanks! We are doing great. We dated for 2 years, but we got engaged labor day 2007 and got married oct 13. It was mostly family (but still a big wedding...lots of Jamie's and my extended family live in the area). We are living in CA right now because of his job and we will be moving again in about a year...just don't know where yet! We are enjoying seeing the country! :) So, you are in TN now? Who does your husband fly for?

Looking for some sympathy... 07-02-08 04:06pm EST
Yesterday one of those days...
It began good... I had to mail out a lot of packages for Ebay(great right). It took most the morning to get the packages ready and I went ahead and weighed them and paid for them through paypal. I usually use bubble envelopes but I ran out so I used priority boxes. I believe there were about 7 boxes. So I loaded the girls up and headed out the door. When I got to the post office I pulled the stroller out of the back of the truck and realized it was soaking wet and very dirty. Great! What i am going to do now. It was impossible to make it into the post office with both girls and 7 boxes without the stroller. So I wiped it down the best I could and loaded it up. (insert complaining girls.. ooo.. wet mommy... wet.. yuck). About 10 yards and two double doors later I was standing at the front desk. both girls are crying and screaming by this time, "want out mommy, want out mommy." I handed the packages to the clerk and she said that couldn't take four of them b/c I had packaged them in a priority box with a first class label on it. ( AHH!!) By now my head was kind of spinning b/c the girls were still whaling at me to get out to the stroller. So I then loaded the boxes back up and headed to the park where I was going to meet my sister for lunch. At the park, the girls were still incredibly difficult. They were so excited to be there, they wouldn't sit and eat. They kept sneaking off to the play area, one would run one direction and the other would run the other. AND... to top it all off... when I sat down I realized I had one brown flipflop on and one black one on. :) hehe
I know this may not seem that bad... but it was a little overwhelming to me. I have had much worse.. but I just thought I give those other mommies out a laugh or two. What would have top of this off ... fill in the blank.. :)
kandimacI'd have to say a potty training incident at the post office. I was very lucky that didn't happen.
mountainmamaIt does seem like some days, everything just goes wrong. I hope the rest of the week goes really well to make up for it.
ilovepondsOh, there are many days like this. Journal them here, or you won't even remember them later.
ticketsthat's quite a day! awww...yeah, i have troubles at the post office. i can't imagine having twin babies there! what would have topped it off? yes, what you said...& a very long line?!
a_shipleyfun times haha. it was neat to see macs plane! very cool
rachierachStrollers are wonderful things... when your kids aren't screaming to get out.
texastwinsSorry you had such a hard day! We have had a few of those! :) I have given up going to the post office on my own!
littlelambI've so been there so many times! I hate days like that when the kids are basket cases for one reason or another and I just want to give up and go home...and cry. :)
