Mom,Laura,Jess, and I returned to our respective homes yesterday evening from a fun-filled vacation to New England. We attended services in Boston? and ran into a few people we knew/had mutual friends/family with. (Its amazing how you can just about always run into someone you know or knows you whenever you visit somewhere.) We went to Boston and did a trolley tour with some friends (new friends to me!). Later that night we went up to Maine and stayed in a B&B for a few days on the beach! God blessed us with perfect weather the whole trip!
We played cards, read books, walked on the beach, ate Lobster for the first time, took naps, watched movies, and took lots of silly pictures and videos of each other! Thursday morning (at 5:00 AM!!!!) we set off for Boston to whale watch! (Pictures and hopefully videos to follow!) It was a 3 hour tour but no shipwreck involved, thankfully, just a lil sea-sickness (despite the Bonine) and roasted skin for me. We got some priceless pictures of one of my favorite of God's creations! 3 Humpback Whales and several dolphins were right next to our boat!! That was an experience I hope I will never forget. We tried to catch naps on the way back to the harbor. I think I slept the most since I don't remember the return trip at all and my arms are the color of tomatos. We walked around Boston some more and did some last minute shopping and toured the USS Constitution. That was really cool.
It was a fun week and great to be off work for a WHOLE WEEK!! I missed HIM tremendously though. Thanks Mom and Dad for letting us go! I really enjoyed it!!
I'm so happy you got to be with your mom and sisters, not to mention getting to see some awesome scenery. Although, I'm sure you're happy to be back home with your hubby. Tell Jon hi!
Hahaha...I wouldn't have been able to stand that either. A lady at work said they had a rooster for a while (her husband is a science teacher and had them for his class) and it crowed every weekend when they took it home for an hour and 15 minutes STRAIGHT in the morning. There's NO way I would put up with that!!
I am SOOO behind on Pleo...This is the first time I've read this! I'm so glad you had fun. I LOVED being with my girls. I especially enjoyed all the relaxing time! I'm glad y'all wanted to relax, too. We were blessed with incredible weather...I will always cherish this memory with you girls...
Nice to meet you! I'm Amber--I went to school with Jess at WKU, and now I'm down here at Auburn for pharmacy school. She said she had a sister down here, and I couldn't remember what last name she told me... :) Nice to meet you!
I dropped 'The Beaz' (my yorkie puppy) off at Petco on my way to work this morning. I told them I wanted him to have a short TRIM to his face and body, to bathe him, and clip his nails etc. I was told this would cost $31.
Jonathan was sweet enough to pick him up after Jonathan's last class. I got a phone call from him at work that went like this: "What did you ask them to do to him?" (I told him the same as above.)"Well, I walked in and they had a dog that looked like a chihuahua ready for me to pick up, and it was Beazley!!" (I felt a sudden rush of blood to my head) "And how much did they tell you it would be?" (I said $31) "Well they charged me $47 and told me you wanted him to look like this."
I haven't seen him yet. I told Jon to put some clothes on my little guy because he was probably freezing standing there all naked!
I called them back and will hopefully be receiving a refund tonight or tomorrow. It will grow back! It Will grow back! It WILL grow back!!! I hope!
Big difference, but precious either way. I can only imagine the shock. I remember when Megan was a baby and got an unexpected haircut. Not as much as Beazley's...but still, I was not ready for it. Poor pup, they left him with nothing.
Oh KATIE...I canNOT believe this happened. Poor little guy...it doesn't even look like him anymore...I'm so sorry this happened. But, like you said, it WILL grow back. You'll have to take pics of him in stages...
Poor puppy, he definitely got a short trim--obviously what you said and they thought when you said short trim was not the same. Poor baby. We miss you too.
poor dog!!! That same thing happened with our poodle. We never would give him the actual poodle cut! my mom just told them a puppy cut, trim, all the same length the whole way around...I went to pick him up with my mom and I gasped when I saw him. He looked very much like a poodle instead of the cute white fluff ball that he was. He looked disgusting! I said that too and the lady got really offended...so we never took him back there again! Mom cuts him now!!!
you know youre right were not as far from auburn now are we. maybe we can scoot over that way sometime and get together with you guys. we'll see what we can work out. great to hear from you dear friend take care.
I think he looks precious! You're not supposed to groom golden retrievers, but we like Lady's hair SHORT, especially since I've learned I'm allergic to her hair! So she's going to get another cut this week!
I was looking at your pictures and my 4 year old came up and asked, "is that a chihuahua?". I guess your husband isn't the only one that thought that! I'm sorry this happened. I always hated it when our groomer clipped our poodle too short. I like the long hair, too.!
Hi there...I teach in Springdale, Arkansas at a technical college...Petra Allied Health.
Oh my, I see your poor shaved doggie...although cute I feel your pain. We had a maltese for years and that happened a couple of times to us...we were extremely upset. They are just meant to have SOME hair left on them....lol
I see you know a lot of the same people I do too...hope you don't mind if I add you to my friend's list...?
Yes, your mom and I went to FC together, although we didn't know each other well...I was SOOOOO shy most people probably wouldn't know who I was/am...lol
Thats the next to last thing I heard on the phone yesterday when I was talking to Jon. He said, "NO BEAZLEY!!!" then the VVRRRROOOOMMM, then he said "I HAVE TO GO!!" My heart skipped several beats and my chest ached. All I could think about was that my poor little puppy was gone!
I called him back later and he apologized for the speedy goodbye and explained that Beazley was just fine. It was actually the neighbors dog that was almost run over! Not that I'm happy about that but I was definitely relieved!! Wow, I really love that dog!
We ate at the "fancy" Burger King that had Wi-Fi, but the main thing I wanted was to plug in my laptop so it could charge while we ate and there were NO plugs anywhere in the place. And it advertised Wi-Fi??? (which I couldn't get on, either). But they have great fries! :-) Sorry; we passed your mom's house, too, if that makes you feel any better. We wanted to get HOME so badly and it took forever.
When we first got in the water we quickly spotted 2 jellyfish! We tried to avoid them but the water was not exactly clear so we got stung a few times. It was interesting, and funny (later)! Saturday morning as we made our way down the beach there was a family fishing (they were fully clothed too! WOW!). The father had just caught a BABY SHARK and was having his wife take his picture! I was even less excited about the merky water! We still got in though and we still had a blast! I am a little toasted and so is Jon but not too bad! I mostly added to my freckle collection. So hope you all had a fun and safe 4th!!
I had the pleasure of attending Seth and Heidi King's wedding last weekend. Every wedding makes me cry but I totally balled at their wedding multiple times! I have known both of them since we were in diapers! It is so weird and yet wonderful that they found each other, fell in love, and married! I am sooooo thankful that I was able to witness the event! I have a hard time comprehending that it has been 4 YEARS since everyone in my family was preparing for my wedding! It really doesn't seem that long!
Thanks to a gift from Mom and Dad, Jonathan and I are headed to Gulf Shores this weekend to celebrate early. I know thats kinda crazy since its a holiday weekend but hopefully we'll find a more secluded beach to hang out on.
Its amazing to me how much I love my husband and how my love for him grows every day. He has definitely been raising the bar for husbands lately. For those of you who don't know, he is in school and I'm working full-time so housework and sleeping have kinda shifted on my list of priorities. He does everything without me asking for help. All you wives know how nice it is to come home to a clean house and be able to relax after a long day of work. He gives that to me and I can't thank him enough. Just had to brag a little. I would brag more but I don't want anyone to puke on their computers.
Hope you all have a fun and safe 4th!
Well, most of the "fam" is in DC, another part is in the hospital, and we're supposed to pick up someone from the airport that day, so we'll stay here. We're going to the Stinsons' that night for dinner and fireworks.
Oh, I understand about having a helpful husband! Paul is SO good to me! He does more than his fair share of housework. It really means a lot! Glad you have that blessing! Happy Anniversary!
Wow, I so signed on and the little green thing up in the corner said I had 12 messages. I was *like* "What is going on?" So, I looked, and apparently Katie wanted to join some groups...all of which I was an op of. :D Welcome!
I love this blog - you sound so happy!!! :) It was SO much fun getting to hang out with you this past weekend..I am so glad you were able to come up. Hope you and Jon have a MAHvelous time this weekend - y'all deserve it!!!!!! LOVE YOU!!
LOVE the patriotic colors up there! It was so cool being in D.C. for the 4th! Hope y'all had a wonderful time at the beach!! Love you both! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
