An idea . . . 11-26-08 09:32am CST

that I came up with on the way to work this morning . . .

I thought it would be fun to list bands that I'm a fan of for each letter of the alphabet. I'm sure I can do it, except maybe for X & Z . . .

Since I'm at work I'll just be able to work on it bit-by-bit and seeing that tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I won't be playing on the internet, this thing probably won't be done til like Monday.

I think it would be fun for a few other people to give it a try too! So let me see your list as well! :)

A. All American Rejects

B. Beck

C. Carlile, Brandi

D. Death Cab for Cutie

E. Eagles, The

F. Foo Fighters

G. Green Day (their old stuff)

H.

I. Incubus

J. Jack's Mannequin

K. Killers, The

L. Ludo

M. Muse, Modest Mouse

N.

O.

P. Paramore

Q. Queen

R.

S. Snow Patrol

T.

U.

V.

W. Weezer

X.

Y.

Z.

bandmom

If you like them, maybe you could say "Zeppelin, Led" for Z. (I'm not even sure I spelled that right.)

oldmanshirt

W and K should be easy. My letter C would have to be different tho :-p

kcrxgirl

Yeah, I'm not really a big fan of Led Zepplin. I also wanted to put Keane on K cuz I dig 'em :)

nancyjo

Can't help with x but ZZ Top is the first (and so far only) thing that came to my mind for Z.

kermit

On the 14th we will be at Hickman for worship...fyi

Working on the weekend . . . 11-22-08 11:37am CST

I'm at work right now, and it's freezing in here, always is! I'm seriously going to start wearing long underwear under all my clothes.

Right now I'm pretty bored, nothing much going on. But David is supposed to be here around noon to eat lunch with me :) I ordered Pita Pit and he's picking it up and bringing it to the hospital. What a nice husband :)

bandmom

I hope you had a nice lunch! I remember hospitals being cold places to work (I actually worked at four different ones years ago in radiology or medical records). And I'm glad you have a nice husband. :)

kcrxgirl

Still freezing . . . even with a long sleeve t-shirt under my scrubs and my white coat. I need to bring an electric blanket!

derek89

I missed an 8 pointer yesterday. :( I was hunting on Grandpa's other farm.

derek89

No, It's because it was like 150+ yds away.

bandmom

I used to bring a hot water bottle to work at the hospital sometimes. :)

kermit

lol, I always wore long underboogies for my legs in KC. Its like a must have to survive winter.

kermit

ya know...underwear, underboogies...sheesh

kermit

and you might not ever again, so feel special :-)

bandmom

Enjoy your days off!!! Are you going to your parents' tomorrow?

It's cold today! 11-18-08 10:27am CST

When I got in my car ~6:10 am to leave for work, it was 26 degrees outside, BRRR! Getting in my car and sitting on those cold leather seats was painful at first. But thankfully the leather seats are heated and were warming my hiney by the time I got to the stop sign at the entrance/exit of our apartment complex.

Thanksgiving is around the corner and I get Thurs-Sun off! woo hoo! :) I fully intend on being very lazy those few days ;)

oldmanshirt

You just keep bragging about those heated seats :-p Just remember those who are not so fortunate as to have heiney warmers!

derek89

Yeah!! What he said!! Although my seats are cloth so it doesn't really bother me. My truck would probably be in the garage, but it won't fit. haha

jeking

thanks for all your great ideas! :)

bandmom

I'm sorry I haven't been in touch. Thankfully I have no classes now until "next month" (I'm taking off the whole week next week except for 3 flute students who have a big competition coming up). I'm glad you have heated seats. :) And I'm very glad you plan to be "lazy" on your days off!

Chili 11-07-08 04:44pm CST

I'm planning on making some chili this weekend as our weather is getting colder and hot chili just sounds yummy! :) I am planning on using an ingredient that some might consider "strange" in chili and I'm basically making up my own recipe.

So this got me to wondering what ingredients other people use that are kinda different from the "standard" chili recipe.

Now I'm not asking anyone to reveal a secret recipe or anything, just curious if you use maybe a special kind of bean or throw any extra veggies in there.

I'll let you know how my "experiment" works out.

UPDATE

The chili turned out pretty well. David said the spiciness (is that a word?) was just right. We had a few people from church over to share it with us. Kim said she liked it. Nathan didn't really say anything about it, but he ate the whole bowl, so I guess that means he liked it.

Also, David said that in TX they don't put beans in the chili . . . I don't really understand that, but whatever (to each his own).

I think my couple of adjustments to the standard chili recipe had good results :) (well, except for the heartburn).

bandmom

You know, I've never made my own chili. My Dad makes the most awesome chili, though. You've inspired me to try some. :) Let me know how yours turns out.

reptileprincess

I love my new room. Thanks for the present. I already ate them.

jeking

Texans don't put beans in their chili, really? 'Cause my parents are Texans and they do. Ew. I'm not a fan of that; I prefer David's Texan chili. Glad it turned out well!

oldmanshirt

poop. We can still see it on saturday morning, at least

deana_d

I definitely use beans in my chili, & I am a Texan. I have my own recipe too. I competed in a department chili cooloff and won but did not win in the hospital wide cookoff. I use ketchup in mine which gives it a little sweetness with the spice.

derek89

Thanks for the Z-O-U. Chances are you came so close to seeing me on t.v. The cameras were all around me, but not on me. lol

jeking

yeah, a very generous couple that i worship with thought i was crazy for going without it and gave me their old laptop.

bandmom

Oops! I hope you can get your schedule worked out so you don't have to change the ticket! We're looking forward to seeing you, however long you can stay....

I feel the need to update . . . 11-06-08 12:52pm CST

but I don't really have anything to say.

Um, I've been on the evening shift this week and it's been ok so far.

And I'm glad that the political ads are done.

That's about all I can think of.

What's new with you?

oldmanshirt

Nothing much. Thinking about taking a shower.

bandmom

I burned a hole in my arm with the iron. It looks gross.

doug_janet

No actually it is a few lines out of a e-mail someone sent me. Some of it wasn’t completely scriptural so I omitted parts. It seemed to be a good reminder that God is in control. – I am going to LA my flight leaves at 3:30 Sunday afternoon so I will be at services with you all in KC and head to airport afterwards.
