We made it! Hahaha, it's been so fun since we've arrived : D Yesterday we came to James' apartment for wicked loads of fun. We drove and hour and a half round trip to go to Moes South Western Grill(sp?) because James' wanted to show us the wonderful undiscovered world of Moe's burritos. And yes, they were wonderful and well worth the trip!
After dinner/lunch we went to Price Chopper to pick up snackage for our all nighter. The entire trip we were laughing our heads off about something random. Ahhhh, I love family. Everything has been AMAZING! I'm really having a good time. Too bad we're only going to be here for a little over a week. Oh well, I do kinda' miss working in a weird...twisted....insane sort of way. And of course, I miss Beaverton, but hey...you have to admit that this vacation is probably as close to perfect as perfect gets : D
I'm going to be really sleep deprived when I get back. The time difference is kinda' throwing me more off balance than I normally am, haha. Hope all is well!
Excited to leave in little less than an hour for our trip. Have been up since seven this morning. Ipod is charged, suitcase is stuffed with lots of warm clothes, still need to pack carry on, everything is ready to go! Now...if only I could get a little power nap before we leave, I want to sleep on the plane, but not be too exhausted at the airport tomorrow! See you all in a week or so. I'm off to have quite possibly the best vacation of the year : ) Love ya!
My blog needed some color, so I'm adding some! Anywho...this is just going to be a bunch of un-organized thoughts in no particular order that are flooding this little Asian mind.
1. I am leaving for the East Coast in only four days! I'm looking forward to going out that way since I haven't been there for six years! I'm hoping to be able to get that direction more often : D It's going to be really nice to have Ashley and Brian somewhat to myself...well not really, but still, any time that I can get with those two is good.
2. Can't wait to get on an airplane! I really love flying...at least, from what I remember I do. It's kinda like being on a roller coaster going up and coming back down. While I'm in the air I love looking out the windows! I'm in the air for crying out loud! How often do I get to say that?!? ALMOST NEVER!
3. I would love to jump out of a plane someday! I really want to go sky diving, anyone with me? How's about next year for my eighteenth birthday! Yeah....that's what I want for my birthday! I want to go sky diving! YES!
4. I can type 131 words per minute. Yes, I timed myself. I know...I'm a geek, but hey, it's a useful skill! It's a minor accomplishment...but I'll take what I can get.
5. I am irked after watching the movie Expelled for the second time because they made very valid points that I used in a paper I wrote for my WR 121 class at PCC. I made the connection between the Holocaust and the abortion issue. My writing professor told me to take that point out of my paper because those were two completely different issues. WRONG! I had an accredited source that stated that saline abortions were originally formed in the Nazi concentration camps. Not to mention, this movie was saying that Planned Parenthood was formed with the main purpose of providing birth control for people who were considered unfit to reproduce. I contemplated finding my writing professor and demanding an "A" on my paper instead of the "B-" he gave me two years ago. I cited the source, and should have gotten credit.
6. I'm looking forward to Sunday night because one of my friends from school is hopefully coming to services. I've been friends with him for over a year. We took Biology together, and he definitely knows where I stand on the religion spectrum. He says that he's open to try Christianity, and has shown some sincere interest. I just hope and pray this will bear good fruit. I really am optimistic on this one : D I can't wait for him to be able to meet my Christian family. For some strange reason I think Brian and him would get along really well. I'm counting on you brother! Haha, use that Sicilian charm! I'm so excited!
7. I am starting to realize that I have the most fun with the simple things in life. Going to the mall with a couple of sisters in Christ to just shop and look around is so much more fulfilling than going out and getting wasted at a bar. I love sitting with a cup of coffee and talking to a friend about my faith and religion than about how attractive the guy over in the corner is. Sitting down and reading God's word without any distraction is more fascinating than any movie out in theaters. Yep...keep it simple
8. I had one of the most interesting encounters of my life with a customer a couple weeks ago! This middle aged Asian man comes up to the counter. He always orders a twelve ounce Americano with a mug of hot water for his wife. One night he asks me, "What nationarity are you?" I say, "I'm Korean" he says "Oh ya....me and my wife think dat. You have da Korean face. Iz good!" I said "Yeah...." He says" How cum you no speak Korean?" I said "Both of my parents are American. I'm adopted." He says "Oh, you shoulda fine your mam. It's betta for you." I said, "I think I'm ok" He said "A fwiend of myne is from Korea too, and he went ova to Korean to find his mam, and whena he found her she say dat when he was lil' boy she let go of hes hand for a minute, and den he was gone. Dey rook and rook for him, but dey couldn't find him. Someone find him, and send him to United States. It heppen a rot!" I said "Oh, well, I'm through HOLT and I don't think that happened to me." He's all "Oh ya, HOLT, I know dat." I finished making his drink and wished him goodnight....
A week later he's back. A couple nights ago he says "HEY! You not workin' a cople days, huh?" I told him I had a few days off. He said, "You know, I know a website where you can-a- find-a- yor mam. All you hav to do is put yor infomashun into a computer and da Korean govament find-a- yor mam. It hapen a rot dat kids are lost in da open maket, and da pawent don-no where dere kids are." I said, "Oh that's interesting." He said "Ya, its-a good ting if you find-a your mam. She pwably rooking for yu." I said, "Maybe someday I'll look. Have a good night" So, hypothetically I was stolen from an open market and smuggled into the United States....great.
9. I've been thinking about getting some genetic testing done. I know I was born in Korea, but I'm really curious as to what my true ethnicity is. Am I full Korea, or half? I know it's really expensive, but I think it would be worth the money. Any guesses on what I am? Hahaha...that sounds odd. Anyway, I think I might only be half Korean from what other Asians guess. Most Asians think I'm either Korean or Japanese. Maybe I'm both? I wonder....
10. Ok, if you've made it this far....HUZZAH! I congratulate you! And now...you can venture out of the deep recesses of my little Asian mind. Have a good day everyone! And yes...I know it's 1:30 in the morning. Good morning! ^_^
Here are my thoughts for you: #1.Yup! #2.Yup! #3.Are you insane?! #4.no idea #5.Yeah, but hakuna matata. #6.Hope we can help, but keep it slow! #7.Yup! #8.Again, hakuna matata. #9.It costs TENS of THOUSANDS, as in $10,000 and up per test!!! and why? What difference does it make? You are a child of The KING, and a citizen of His eternal Kingdom, and that is what really matters. #10.LOOONG post! Love ya, Snert!
I hope your friend continues to explore Christianity. It is cool he will visit church. Perhaps see if he will study with your Dad? Your Dad is an excellent teacher. Have a safe trip :-)
I didn't chop my hair off. Haha, I just am too attached! I did get it trimmed and the layers are really nice. Maybe next time...see you all tonight! Much love, Kiki
Have you started packing yet? Remember you only get 2 check-in bags and 1 carry-on item (as well as a personal item, like a purse) - any extra bags will cost more. Brian and I each have 1 check-in and 1 carry-on. We are big believers of packing light. We know what happens when we take more than we need... ;)
And KEEP IN MIND!!! The temperatures when we are out there look like this: HIGH TEMP: 34, 37, 35, 36, 46, 45, 43, 44, 44, 44 - with "snow" mentioned several times. And East Coast snow is painful & bitter. It isn't like the Christmas snow of last year where we could go out barefoot. So you may want to invest in something other than ankle-socks. Bring a good pair of waterproof boots. Fashion won't be an option this trip. :)
How exciting to go to the East coast! We loved it when we went last year in October. It's nice of that older man to take an interest in you if not a little prying :)
131 wpm seems freakishly fast - are you sure about that?! I hate flying - if I could I'd just snap my fingers and be somewhere. Maybe someday! :)
Brian and I bought matching wool hats last night. I will be spending this Sunday afternoon picking up little bits and pieces that I need (long-sleeved shirts - mine are all stained or too small) do you have long-sleeved shirts to wear under sweaters and such?
lol, how do you know boozing isn't worth it? :P Genetic testing, huh? It might give you insight into predispositions for health conditions, since you don't know your family history.
I think genetic testing is over-rated. There is more genetic diversity in any two fruit flies than any two humans. We're all basically brothers & sisters. You'll find out you're more closely related to the Dunagans than you thought possible... :) We all came from Noah. What's the difference?
Ok, I set up a hair appointment on Wednesday morning (yes this is going somewhere) and I need to decide whether or not I want to cut my hair off, or just get it trimmed. I've tried to find a picture of it, but so far it's been really hard. What I would want to do is have it fairly short in the back with lots of layers. Not a stacked bob. The only thing I would need to do to style it would be some hair glue. The front would be A-line with an angle bang. I know it's hard to picture, but bear with me. Originally I was just going to get my hair trimmed before I head out to the East Coast...but now I'm wondering if I should just cut if off since I've been wanting to do that for a while anyway. Thoughts, comments...the floor is yours!
P.S. I applied to Western Kentucky University today. It was honestly the easiest college application I've ever done! Hopefully I'll be accepted. If not...well, let's not go there. Prayers please!
ugh!! I would hide and have someone else serve them!
But just be generic- "thanks! have a good day"
My problem is, I would be like, "Boy, IT sure is nice out!" or talking to a co-worker while they're standing there, "did you ever see that one Stephen King movie--IT--yeah that was CREEPY".
Ooooh.... I LOVE your beautiful silky hair! I have a friend with that cut and you only really have one style you can do with it, plus, when you put glue in it, it takes away the beautiful shine. Just my observation....
