I'm sure many of you are heading out of town soon and I just wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We always head to Lufkin to spend time with Rett's extended family. The roads are terrible and they are consumed with huge trucks that terrify me. The whole 3 1/2 hour trip I am very anxious. The last few years going down there Rett has made a point to say a prayer as soon as we get settled into the car ready to head out. Somehow that prayer always eases my anxiety and I can enjoy the trip and the beautiful scenery. This is not to say that when we are sandwiched inbetween two semi's with logs that I don't have to say my own little prayer over and over. "Be anxious for nothing..."....I know, I know.
Anyways, I just wanted to wish you all a safe and happy thanksgiving. We are all so very blessed and I personally feel very blessed to have each and every one of you in my life.
Have a great time! Why don't you just sleep while Rett is driving? If Steve's driving makes me nervous, I just close my eyes and try to nod off - after praying, of course!!
I can't believe you're from Collierville (sp?). My aunt and uncle live in Rossville, TN and they go over to Collierville for restaurants and certain stores. Small world!
Hope you guys had a happy thanksgiving, too! The house we have in Evant is an investment my parents and I went in on together...I don't know if any of us will end up living in it, or if we're just gonna try to flip it, but right now we're just trying to get it in a liveable condition! :)
We survived the cold this weekend camping and had such a great time! We went hiking, tried to fish, and had some great fellowship. I think the kids could go camping every weekend but my house could not take it. It's always fun packing to go camping but not so fun when you get back. I feel like half the items we own smell like a campfire. So today I will try to defunk most of our stuff while celebrating...
SIERRA's 5th birthday!! I can't believe she is 5. She was born on a Monday morning and she is celebrating her 5th birthday on a Monday. I guess leap-years throw it all off. I cried for a little this morning just b/c it's gone by so fast (and I pretty much can cry at anything).
Hope everyone has a great week. Please keep my sis-in-law Dianna and the baby in your prayers for a happy and healthy pregnancy!
Happy Birthday to Sierra! I can't believe it has been 5 years already. Do you remember having your bridal shower at my house? That was just 5 minutes ago, wasn't it??
It's amazing how fast time has gone! I can't believe Sierra turns 5 today!! I remember being down at the hospital when she was born! Glad camping was fun! I never enjoy the unpacking and defunking part either. :) Thank you also for the thoughts and prayers. How sweet!
yeah, I have to agree..the camp smell afterward always was a bother. But I think it's worth it when you have a really awesome camping trip! Happy Birthday to Sierra, time does fly. It makes me realize how little time we really have with our children when they are small...sniff, sniff.
I can't believe you guys had car trouble. That stinks. I'm glad you made it home safely though. I can't wait to go again with you guys. We had a BLAST.
Wow. I can't believe how fast she has grown. You just need to put a brick on your children's heads and say "you can't grow any more or get any older." Well I hope that you all had a safe and fun trip. Hopefully I'll be able to see you guys sometime next week! Just let me know when y'all will be in town. I don't think that we are going to be coming to Aunt Verna's this year, but I could be wrong. I'll let you know our plans! Love you guys!!
I'm not sure if you remember this game... but it was in the NCAA tournament, I believe in the 3rd round, maybe about 5 or 6 years ago. Painful for me to watch: UT beats WVU with last second shot
I'm so sorry we had to miss the Birthday party. It looks like y'all had so much fun. I'm kind of glad we didn't wind up going because Emma still has this really raspy bad cough. Not sure what's wrong...but it seems like y'all had a GREAT time.
Hey:) Well I took most of my stuff to a shop in Georgetown called wiggles n giggles. She took most of my stuff there, I also sold a few things on Ebay and craigslist:) I took a bucket to kid to kid before and they gave me most of my stuff back there too, stuff that was nice. I don't know what the deal was!? Good luck:)
^^Hey, sorry, just reading your comments. I had a friend who tried to sell to some resale shops once and they wouldn't take her things because it wasn't the right season. She was trying to get rid of spring and summer and they only wanted fall and winter. Just a thought.
we are all finally well. Thanks for all the "check-ups".
This past weekend we headed over to the Elgin Pumpkin Patch (aka...Elgin tree farm). It was so much fun. They have hay rides, a hay maze, and great food. The pumpkins are pretty cheap and they have a great selection. The kids had a blast as well as Rett and I. For those of you that have never been there, you should check it out some time. I'm already so ready to go back and get a tree to start decorating but I suppose it would be dead by December...seems like all the stores have already pulled out their decorations why can't we?
Hope you guys are all having a great healthy week so far!!!
(go horns!!)
PS: CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO UPLOAD PICS. EVERYTIME I TRY IT GIVES ME A ERROR MESSAGE..IT IS GETTING SO FRUSTRATING!!!
I'm so glad you came to the Pumpkin Patch in Elgin! Y'all shoulda called us! There are actually two Christmas tree farms out here that do pumpkin patch things. Which one did you go to? I like the one east of town just off Hwy 290. The other one is cool too, and the family there gives alot to the public library here. Can your kids say pumpkins? Mine always turned it into something like 'cunkins' or 'cumpkins'. That's what I like best about the holidays, the things my kids came up with.
I'm the same way...I don't think I took a breath the whole time! haha. I hear I might be seeing yall this weekend for some fun on Saturday night...sure hope yall can come! :)
I'm alot like that if I don't drive too. We live in Elgin now; planning to find some land and build a house, but in Williamson County. Bastrop Co. is very liberal for the most part. When we moved congregations it was with the idea that we were moving to a church with elders and planning to move our household into a better school district. (I'm a nurse; home schooling is not compatible with my abilities.) We are glad to be at Cedar Park. Everyone has been uber nice and welcoming to us. :)
The reason I was having trouble getting pictures on was because they were too big -- the file size of the picture. Do a google search about changing the file size of pics. Once you get it saved smaller, try loading it again. That's what happened to me, too; I kept getting error messages. Once my pics were smaller, they loaded fine.
Hey...haven't talked to you in a while so I thought that I would write you and see how you are doing. What has been going on with you lately? Well write me back...I'd love to hear from you sometime...Love ya'll and talk to you soon!!
Yeah...totally terrified. I used to not be this way. It's the kids Im tellin ya. It doesn't really feel real yet. You know whta I mean? It's weird. But thank you for your comforting words! We'll see you tonight Lord willing.
So glad you got to come to the retreat this year!! I had so much fun playing games and hanging out! Hope you weren't too worn out after our late night giggling!
From what Ryan said, we'll probably head to Lufkin on that Wednesday sometime and then we'll leave for Hamilton (my grandparents) sometime late Friday afternoon. When are you guys planning on going?
Hey will I be able to see you guys at thanksgiving??? I'd really love to be able to see you guys and visit...I don't know what we are doing for thanksgiving but I'd really love to be able to see all of you. If you could let me know that would be great!! Oh when are you guys heading this way???
We have a had a wonderful Gospel meeting this week. The lessons have been very encouraging and it has been great to be around my sisters and brothers in Christ every day.
The weather is turning a little cooler, the trees are starting to turn fall colors (as much as they do in Texas), and "true" fall seems to be right around the corner. I never have been truly fond of fall, I'm more of a spring person but for some reason this year is different...I love it. Maybe it's because the kids can now go for bike rides with Rett and I to see the trees turning colors, truly enjoy a fall carnival or how excited they get with just the prospect of going to pick out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch.
Fall is my favorite season of the year. Of course, I grew up in New York, and the leaves are beautiful as they shower down in all those red, orange, and gold colors. Nothing like coming in from a brisk day and smelling a pie baking or a cinnamon apple fresh from the oven!
Wish that I could have come and heard the speaker one night.....but I had school and work all week.....its getting to be holiday season so its been crazy at work....It's not even halloween or even thanksgiving for that matter and people are already getting christmas gifts.....its insane....I'm loving this weather!!! But hey I was gonna mention to you and Dianna that on the 25th we are having a haunted house at my parents house and y'all would be more than welcome to come....If y'all could come then that would be great!!! I'll try and send you a copy of the invitation.....
It was truly a great week with wonderful lessons. I also am more of a spring person, but have also enjoyed the cooler weather. I've been walking the hike and bike trail near us, and it's been so cool in the mornings.
aww, thanks for your encouraging words on my page! I spent the day with Katie and Ben Friday, and Katie kept going on and on about how much fun she had with you, Rhyder, and Sierra the day before!
Thanks for the comments on my page. I enjoyed meeting you at CP and look forward to talking with you again soon. Take the camera when you go to the pumpkin patch! Great time and place for really colorful fall pics of the kiddies. Some of my favorites are from our visits to get "the pumpkin." (Which always turned into one for everyone, cuz we couldn't agree on one....:) Have fun. Take hand sanitizer.
I'm really liking the weather outside right now too... hopefully it will stay nice outside for a while. Well... I can always "root" for Texas when WVU is not playing up to par... does it count if I root for them to lose? Just kidding. It's a good time to be a Texas fan - they are looking awesome.
and now I am ready to go back to bed. I usually wake up around 7 but for some reason getting up when it's dark outside makes a huge difference. So props to all of you that get up that early.
I have only been on pleo for maybe a month but I just wanted to tell you all thanks for all the entries and making me feel at "home". Hope you all have a great week!!!
5:45 is how early I had to get up everyday at the ranch...I never got used to it even though I did it all summer! Maybe you'll get a chance to take a nap this afternoon :)
ohh jarrod got up pretty early for work..and for a little bit i couldn't go back to sleep..but i forced myself..then i woke up at 7:30..felt much better!
Dan gets up at 5:10 and I get up to have breakfast with him at 5:45. I love getting up that early because I have such a LONG, productive morning. On Fridays, though, I have been known to go back to bed after breakfast and after Dan leaves;) Hey, it's a reward for getting through the busy week! :)
You might be right about the Sunday & Monday shopping thing. For the last month those are the days I've been shopping on. Maybe that's been why I can't find anything! :) Thanks for the advice!
I don't like trying to wake up that early, but later in the day I am glad because it makes the day longer! Luckily right now I don't get up until 7 or maybe a little earlier.
no, she stays home with michael, or ashlea, once he has to leave for work...she's usually still asleep! no, jana didnt come over....was it silver or tan? if it was silver, it couldve been mom...but i dont know! did rhett tell you he saw us? he waved, but im not sure if he even recognized me- he probably thought i was some crazy woman just waving....lol, i literally woke up, got dressed and left the house all in about 5 mins...charlie kept me up late :-(
I don't like to get up early either. Todd leaves early, and most times I don't even know it. I get up about 6:45, and I can handle that. Glad you and Heather were at class last night.
5:45? Half the day is gone by then. My favorite time is 4 AM. I have always enjoyed the quietness of the morning. OK, I am retired and there is always time for the afternoon nap. But even when I worked I got up at least an hour before I had to.
