Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6
Beth and James had a very nice, simple (but a little different) outdoor wedding on Sept. 29 just outside of Nashville. The beautiful setting was by a small lake, or a BIG pond on the estate of the man whose grandfather founded a well known discount store. They had connections! She got to ride from the place she got dressed (the garage where the man keeps his various cars) to the wedding site in a Porsche. Her daddy was asked to perform the ceremony and his main concern was how he could both walk her down the aisle and do the ceremony. There really was no aisle, so he simply walked her from the car to James, then stepped around to his place. It was supposed to be a sunset wedding, but due to some delays, one of which was the bride leaving the rings in her purse in the room she got dressed in, it was a dark wedding lit up by the headlights of the Porsche and the light of the videocamera. Mike had to use a flashlight to read the ceremony. Included in James' vows was the promise to bring Beth back to Texas as soon as possible! He just promised to bring her back someday. I held up two cell phones set on speaker so Beth's brother in Beaumont and her twin sister in Tampa could hear the wedding. Also, due to connections, they had a limousine waiting to take them to the restaurant where we all had supper. James only had 2 days off from work, so their honeymoon was a night in the honeymoon suite of the Marriot in Nashville. They'll take a longer one later. It really was a nice wedding and the funny details will make an interesting story to tell their grandchildren someday.
How nice! I think I might have recognized Beth if I saw her even though I haven't seen her since she was about 7! Is that 2 down, 2 to go? J/k, I'm glad the wedding went well. She's a beautiful bride.
Beth IS radiant! The story is funny and it will get better as time passes - just whose fault was it and who was nervous and all that.....I hope they have a beautiful life together.
James is a wonderful young man. We're very happy for her. They don't have a date yet, but she assures me it will be soon.
They don't plan on having a big wedding, even talked about eloping, but her daddy has forbidden that. He wants to give her away.
Hi Mary Ellen. She finished her school last Wed. and her graduation is on the 30th, next Tuesday. She's getting married next Monday. When she said soon, she meant soon. We were going for graduation anyway, so this allows Mike to have his wish to give her away. I already told James he could have her. :) They are definitely smitten with each other!
Please email me (email address on my home page) a dedication, thought or scripture that you would like put on the dedication page of the cookbook. We are also encluding camp directors etc. Thanks.

We didn't go. I haven't felt well this week (cough, stuffiness, etc.) and it ended up being good we didn't go. Rick, Daniel and George had a full day yesterday and George ended up with a sick stomach last night. I think too many spicy foods! Do you think you'll make it to the Alief singing next Sunday? We should be there!
I met the chaperone you hosted today at the farewell party! She said she had a great time - she loved visiting with your mother. I told her about going to Japan last year. The first place I stayed was the small town out in the country where her husband is from. She was very surprised. I really enjoyed talking to her. She said you were to get your cast off today. How was that?
Hi! It is Shawnn (Spradlin) Henderson. I just stumbled on your site! How are you doing? I broke my wrist roller skating one time so I feel your pain. Hope you feel better soon.
It was such fun having Matthew here a couple of weeks ago. (His parents came, too.) As Mike says, there's a big difference between an 18 month old and a 2 year old. When he was here in the summer he was so scared of Mike, he crawled under a bed to get away from him. Now look at him enjoying looking at pictures with his Granddad. He's learning lots of words and I'm sure he'll be speaking in complete sentences in a couple of months just like his daddy did at the same age. The sweater is one that my mother had made for Michael when he was little. I got it out and passed it on to Matthew when they were here, but he wasn't too thrilled about posing for a picture for me. He had a lot of fun playing with the various balls we have. One ball was actually an inflatable globe that our dog, Ruby, decided was hers. The next morning, Matthew was pointing around the room naming various things and when he saw the deflated globe, he said "ball." Michael said , "That's not a ball, that's the world. The world is flat." I thought I taught him better than that.
It sounds like you had such a cool time together. I know they will cherish the memories. My grandparents were quite old by the time I came around, so I don't have such memories, but I love the ones I do have.
Hey! I just found you on the 4 or more page! Do you remember me? Probably not...but I'm sure you remember my husband, Brandon Sparks... How are all of you? Are Kara & Beth on here?
LOL - I forgot about that! Yes, little Annie (just turned 2 Jan 30) is Brandon made over...except for the red hair which she gets from my grandmother. Makenzie (4 & 1/2) is me made over! It's so funny how we got one of each of us. Scared to think of what might be in store for the future! ha! We just moved to Savannah in November. We love it! Tell the girls if they ever want to come visit we'd love to see them! We should be here about 5 yrs (Brandon's job)...then no telling where. I think Brandon would like to go back to TX...but I'm going to have to persuade him otherwise! ;) I'm so glad I found you on here!!! We need to keep in touch! I try to update at least a couple times a week & put pictures up at least once for everyone since we're so far away now... Look forward to reading more of your posts! And wow - I can't believe that little girl I remember is graduating from HS!!! yikes!
Check out this sight for cookbooks. Thanks http://www.fundcraft.com/fc/aboutus.asp Check this out as a possible fundraiser for FC Pleo. (question on FCParents)
They do grow up, don't they? And WAY too fast! Thankfully Robert is not as eager to leave home as David was. He's going to the local university 3 blocks from our house and living at home. Yeah!
I think the Greek kids come at the same time. I hope you enjoy the chaperone! It was different for me, hosting a chaperone. I was used to letting the kids go off and do things together, but the chaperone was my responsibility! (not that the kids weren't -- it was just different). I'll look forward to hearing about it!
