"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to GIVE A DEFENSE to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." 1 Peter 3:15
Study your Bible today. It's the best thing you can do for yourself.
Thanks, Katy. I needed this encouragement today! I was just talking to someone last night about how hard it is to talk to people who don't believe in God, and this post was the perfect follow-up. I love you :)
I've been thinking about that this week...I'm going to have a little girl watching me all the time and asking lots of questions about why I do what I do! Guess she'll be watching her aunt a lot, too:)
i know! i'm trying to stuff as many in now as i possibly can. not really. it had been a while since i had done that, so i just chilled out for most of the day. regretted it later. but still good.
i'm almost getting nervous about it. i'm not sure what i should do. what do you think i should do. they said they would e-mail us about what we needed to do. but some of the girls i know that are in it too said that they were told to get an adviser. but what is that supposed to mean? i wasn't told that! what did you have to do?
I saw the sunrise and God's incredible beauty this morning, and it really has made me nostalgic for Florida all day! My favorite thing was to go to the east coast and see the sunrise.
I know a lot of people love the sunset, and it IS majestic, however, there is something about the peacefulness of sunrise. Everything is so quiet, new, and fresh. I never cease to be in awe of God and His power at such a moment. I wish there was a way to bottle the feeling I have when I see a sunrise so I can carry it around all day and never lose sight of Him. I fail miserably so often at keeping Him close throughout the day. But I thank Him that He gives us reminders such as sunrises and sunsets.
My mother is such an inspiration to me in all ways, but especially spiritually. Whenever we went hiking and saw an incredible sight in the woods, or were simply driving and saw the rays shining through the clouds, she always remarked on the power of God. There is no way to capture His works of art on canvas or film and really do it justice. I can walk through a museum with lots of artwork that is very impressive, and yet I get tired of it after a little while; yet I have never grown tired of His paintbrush and I doubt I ever will.
But don't ever forget that His greatest masterpiece is you and me. We are His canvas and it is our job to be the smoothest, tightest canvas we can be so that the image He is painting is clearly seen.
I love how a sunrise gives new hope to the day and I remember something a friend said once, "We shouldn't ask ourselves 'what will I do with my day,' but rather stir ourselves by asking, 'What will I do with God's new day?'"
Great thoughts, Katie. And when your third paragraph mentioned your mother, I was *totally* not surprised, because I could see her in your words. What a wonderful tribute to her to glorify God in this post.
Maya is doing great! We need to get her & Bella together so they can be good friends one day:) Your sis told me that you & Jason have a feud of the nieces going:)
Since the birth of my adorable little niece Bella, many things have happened.
Brandon and Emily were married August 9th and the wedding was BEAUTIFUL!! The reception music was especially wonderful! ;) Emily was such a beautiful bride and Brandon never stopped smiling all day!
I started nursing school this semester! After the first day I had about 4 hours of reading and homework before the next class. Their favorite saying in the program is to "eat it like you're eating an elephant": one bite at a time. um...yeah.
We had our family reunion at the Coffey Cabin! My uncle and I won the cornhole game!! He didn't tell me until AFTER we won that he was the worst player in the family and he had not won a game in 15 years! I guess it just takes the right teammate!
Today is my Mom's birthday and I had the hardest time deciding what to get her. Yesterday, I was at Fishy Business with Lee Calvert looking at fish when I saw little kittens on sale! That was it! I bought my mom a kitten, and hoped the whole way to nashville that it was the right move. It was. :) So, right now, there is a baby, a kitten, and a 15 year old cat who does not like being pushed out of favoritism by the two mentioned above.
I miss you, love :) I'm so happy that you have an adorable neice. :) Come see me! I went to Broadmoor several times this summer and the lack of Katy was extremely depressing...
that's a bit graphic for online readers... sorry katy. i can add it on, but technically i wasn't there to experience the original conversation. so i didn't feel privy to the information.
that's going to be my problem when i get into nursing school. i'm going to have to monitor what i say on here a lot more because i know i'll have a ton of funny stories.
