UPDATE: I let Chelsea try her cake again after lunch today. She took a while but she really got into it. She didn't eat very much of it, but she had a lot of fun playing with it. It was fun to see her pick a big piece of cake an crumble it all over the place. Maybe she was waiting to celebrate her cousin Annalise's birthday that is today. Or maybe she's celebrating Caroline's, Eli's, or her aunt Rose's birthday. Anyway, Happy Birthday Annalise, Rose, Caroline, and Eli!
Chelsea didn't dig into the cake and make a huge mess with it like I thought. It was actually kind of boring. She played with the icing and tasted it a little, and really just wasn't sure what to do with it. Oh well...
Later I gave her a bite of Chocolate cake and she ate that. So, I offered her another piece of cake in one hand and a slice of apple in the other. She chose the apple. I guess she wants to be a healthy eater. I'm okay with that!
It's a shame she didn't eat much of the cake because it was SO good and very cute! My friend made it for us. Thank you!
I'll try to post pictures later. It was a very fun birthday at the zoo and a nice party on Saturday. My parents and grandparents came. It was so nice to have them here to enjoy the day with us.
CJ is cute. You and Brent did a good job picking her name. =) Can't want to see all of you either! I'm so happy all of you can come! It seems like some of our group has dwindled down some over the years but maybe it'll bounce up more this year. =D The singing on Friday night is going to be great as usual! Can't wait!
annalise did the same thing. she started slow just sticking her finger a little in the icing. then she started going fast but never got into the cake itself. but we got some cute pictures, nevertheless.
Hey, good for you guys! Addison wasn't too big on eating her cake either, but boy did she EVER play in it. She made a huge mess. Chelsea is super cute, I clicked on your link below and saw some pics. I'm still so happy for y'all, you know having a family and all that good stuff. Aren't kids great? :) For a super funny aren't kids great image, check out the latest picture I posted. :) It's pretty funny.
This year has gone by sooo fast!!! I think the last time we saw her she was only a couple of weeks old. Maybe we've seen her since then, but time has really flown this year more than any other year of my life.
The pictures are so good! You all look great and she is sure full of smiles. I'll see what I can find for a chair for Isabel. She is doing really well in class so far. She did VBS at East Shelby last month and is in class now, so I'm sure she'll be fine but I'll work on getting her a seat. Looking forward to seeing you guys next week as well!
Love the pictures! I gave Ben and Martha my wallet size pic - can you send another one? She's on her tummy and the background looks like maybe a nature scene.
Glad you guys made it back safely. I hope Chlsea is feeling better. We so enjoyed having you here and were so sad to see you go. I'll get the bow in the mail soon, assuming that I don't forget, which I'm good at doing.
Thanks! We are all doing great & getting adjusted to our new life. Sometimes it feels like the most natural thing & other times it kind of feels like I babysitting:)
so Chelsea is super cute...just thought you should know. ;) Although I can see from your ticker up there that these pictures are a few months old now. Has she changed a whole lot, any teeth, walking? What's up with you guys and your super cute baby...perhaps an update is in order. :)
look at me being all bossy, just call me miss bossy pants today! Burt and I were just talking about you guys a few days ago so I thought I'd check in, so to speak.
Wow!! Aunt Cherie called today and told us that ALL of you will be here for Thanksgiving!! I can't wait! I'm not sure I remember the last time all of ya'll were here on the same Thanksgiving day!
I want to thank all of you that left your memories of Teena. I recently received and e-mail from Teena's mother. She requested that I let everyone know about a Teena's online guest book. Please take a minute to sign it. I know it would mean a lot to her family. Thank you.
Chelsea has been growing and doing new things all the time. Here's some of the things that has happened recently:
~She's got 2 teeth in the front on the bottom.
~She's sitting up on her own.
~She's scooting around everywhere and has just recently started rocking on her hands and knees. She hasn't technically "crawled" but she is really close. She get just about anywhere she wants to go by pushing off with her feet.
~She had her first taste of food (other than breast milk). We started on oatmeal cereal and she had a taste of avocado. She doesn't really seem to interested in it yet, so we're not pushing it.
~We moved her out of her infant carrier car seat. She was just too big for it. It's much easier to get her in and out of the car in the new car seat and since she can sit up now, we just put her in a high chair when we are going out to eat. She loves being able to see everything that's happening when she's in the high chair.
~She had her first cold. Actually, she's still getting over it. It's so sad when you have a sick baby. I feel so sorry for her! She's such a sweet girl, though. She smiles and tries to be happy even when she's not feeling good.
Brent and I are doing well (except for the cold we've been passing around). Here's some new things in our life:
~My mom recently came for a visit and helped me plant our first garden in our backyard. I am SO, SO excited about it!! I can't wait to have organic fruit and vegetables in my backyard. Everything seems to be growing pretty well, except for my green beans. I think a squirrel or some other critter got to most of my green bean plants. I'm pretty upset about that.
~I got a new camera for mother's day! Hopefully I'll be better about posting pictures now!
~We got a new gas grill! It's a gift to Brent for Father's day (a little early). We've already enjoyed burgers, steaks, and chicken right off the grill. YUM!
Hey! Chelsea is growing so fast!! I miss ya'll so much! I wish we could see eachother more. That's so cool about your garden. =) Dad used to plant one every year and it was a lot of fun helping him with that. This year we pulled up two of the holly bushes in the front of the house and planted two rose bushes (yellow roses) and some red and white flowers. Along with taking care of the day lilies, it's getting a little harder to take care of them but it's a lot of fun! Love you!
Glad to hear y'all are doing well! Annalise got those two teeth, too! I noticed them Sunday. This week, she also sat up on her own. It doesn't take long for her to topple over, though. Our girls are getting so big! Hope Chelsea is all better soon (and you and Brent, too). Love you!
=) Well, I think I'm a little better with flowers than a garden, but I might try another little garden sometime. It's just that we get cold snaps here whenever we decide to plant vegetables or something and they die. =(
It's so fun to watch them grow, isn't it? Caroline doesn't have any teeth yet, but she is sitting up on her own and wants to crawl so bad! She's just about there too. I thought she was going to get it today, but not quite!
Yes, I think it will. Anything spicy. Do you know if it's birds? If it is, you could try something reflective, they dislike shiny things. I used those cheap windmill things that are kids toys.
Having organic fruits and veggies in the backyard is such a blessing! My Dad has always had a large organic garden, for as long as I can remember. He always stocks us up when we visit during the summer! Glad to hear you all are doing well, hope the colds go away soon!
hey katie, your little one sounds just like my little one, except he loves food.typical guy i guess, huh? I dont know what you do , and it may sound gross to you but I out frech ( or not fresh) apple juice in with avocado andmix it in the blender, stone gobbles it up. You mentioned avocado so I thought I would mention that to you. Youcan also add bluberries or bananasinto the mix. you should post some new photos. How is the work going in b'ham? hope all is well!
I can't believe you guys have an 8 month old, and we have another one too. It's crazy how our lives can change so fast, last time we were all together in Jamaica, you weren't pregnant and we only had Addison. Man, time really flies. Glad to hear things are going so well for you guys! :) Oh and I'm a little jealous about the garden, i've always wanted one too!
YES! you really need to get better at posting pictures of that sweetness! I only saw newborn pictures and she was beautiful! Are you pregnant again!? That would be great if you are! My first two are 18 months apart and I'd have it no other way! I love it! ;)
