Today is the day Spencer would have turned nineteen. I was thinking back, remembering what we did on every birthday and trying to chose the best birthday of all of his celebrations. It hit me that the very best birthday must be this one. I know that one day in heaven can't even compare to a lifetime of birthdays here on earth.
I am so grateful for a son who lived a beautiful life full of laughter and strong in faith. Spencer left a footprint on the hearts of all who came to know him and he influenced many people to live for the Lord.
I miss Spencer more than words can say but I will strive daily to live for Christ and rejoice in the knowledge that God will reunite us in heaven.
That is so sweet. I hope you were able to do something with your family to remember him yesterday. I will keep you all in my prayers that God may continue to comfort you. The promise of uniting in Heaven is such a comforting thought. Thinking of you all...
AMEN !!!! I remember the last Christmas excange Spencer waz in and he won that mashety and every one wanted it !!!!! I luv spencer like a brother im sorry !!!! God bless him in heaven !!!!
Don't they call the birthday that is the age of the day you were born your golden birthday? So, Spencers would be his 19th birthday because he was born on the 19th. What a better place for him than in Heaven!! I know you all miss him terribly as do the rest of us. Sure will be thinking alot about you all over the holidays and January as well. Love you!
Last night my sweet Maddie said she didn't want any presents this year. When I asked her why she said that she had everything she could possibly want or need and there were so many children in the world who have nothing. We brainstormed for a little while about what we could do as a family to help others. Maddie said she would like to help the children at our local children's hospital and I suggested doing something for the kids staying at the Ronald McDonald House. (we have often stayed at the RMH in Minnesota and it is such a great charity organization).
I wondered if any of my pleo friends had any ideas for us or if you had an experience to share.
We went through Lifetime Adoption. Look at Sacred Selections though. My friend Dana Carroza, who "housed" Eric and I when we went to Sacramento to get Kevin. She and her husband started Sacred Selections. It is a wonderful new "agency". Their goal is to get as many babies in Christian homes. They help with birth mothers, adoptive parents and can also help with the costs of adoptions. Go to www.sacredselections.com for more information. Adopting a child is such a wonderful thing and it is providing them the opportunity to know God and to find salvation. An opportunity they might not otherwise have. How lucky a child would be to be welcomed into your arms and guided through life. Let me know if you have any questions! Love you!!
I think you're right Jamie. Someone called earlier today to ask if I could volunteer to welcome guests to the hotel. I would say over and over and over, "Welcome to the GAYLORD!!!"
One year when my sisters kids were little, they were in dire straights. No money for Christmas. They opened their back door (they lived on a farm, so everybody goes out the back door!) and found that a secret Santa had delivered gifts for the entire family. They found out later that it was friends from their congregation. What a nice surprise for them. Maybe you could find a family that is in that kind of situation and help them out.
I tried to call you. Pretty sure you won't be able to hear my message. I wanted to tell you that I am so thankful to you and Steve for giving us Spencer. Thinking about you on his birthday. Love you.
We have been thinking of mixing things up a little this holiday season and have talked about going to Colorado for a few days. What is your favorite town and why or can you give us any tourist tips? Thanks in advance.
I want to have a favorite spot in Colorado, but I've never been. My friend loves a place in Estes Park called Solitude Cabins and it does look just gorgeous!! Check out their website.
flying or driving? Vail would be great at the holidays. I think you would need to fly into Denver and rent a car. LScott has a good place up around Estes too. Check with her.
I've been to Denver twice. From there you can drive to Estes Park area. I love the mountains but I'm one of the few people who actually prefer to just look at them from the groun up! :) Denver has lots to do and there is a constant view of the mountains all along the side. I have friends up there. Her husband is a preacher in Aurora. If I knew how to link to her name, I would.
can we do lunch or swomething this week? or maybe a trip to the country? maybe a broadway show? or window shop together. you work it out...i will be there.
Actually, L vetoed the Colorado idea and talked S into taking us all to stay a couple of nights at the Gaylord. She has been so sick lately and is having a hard time with car sickness. She has a point I guess. I don't want to be riding all the way to Colorado with her screaming ,"Pull over! Pull over!"
I am on the prowl for a family member for some weathered planks of wood, either cedar or pine from an old barn that needs to be dismantled or rebuilt. My relative says he will happily rebuild the barn with new wood in exchange for the weathered wood. If anyone can help, leave a note. Thanks.
What kind of weathered wood?? We just took down an old redwood fence that would certinly be considered weathered and we have all the wood stacked very neatly if you want to look at it. Do you still have my red fold-up chair or did you leave it at Jamie's??
well last week I built a fence with old redwood fence but used up all that I had in store. You know me and nonni are two of a kind....work work work. hehehe
The Bibie is the highest selling book each year, with one bible being sold every fifty seconds. It is also the book that is most shop-lifted in the world today. I can't imagine how anyone could justify stealing a bible!
Well obviously, those who steal it...need it!! What is amazing to me is how ungodly this world is even though the Bible is the #1 selling book. Wish all those who were buying them, would also read them and accept it for what it says!!!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your pain in your eye and your strep! This has got to stop!!! Why do you and L keep getting strep???Ive never heard of someone getting as many times as yall.
I can bring dinner back in the ginormous pink bowl you brought us dinner in. Thats an easy way to get stuff back to you! What are your plans for thanksgiving? How about I plan to bring dinner after your next surgery? I will talk to you before then...
I saw L at church this morning but I got caught by someone before I could grab her:) hope she has found relief from the horrible headaches.
With Love and ((hugs))
