Weird dream 03-25-08 05:24am CST
I was a research scientist at FC (go with me, here), researching both murders that had been happening on campus and a new strain of AIDS that completely changed the makeup of the human body. Among the effects of the new strain of AIDS was that it was much more easily contagious.

In between sniffing out clues about who had killed someone I'd never heard of before, I realized I needed to get to the store to get surgical masks and gloves for the entire campus population, to protect them from our patients. Upon arriving back, I dispatched Colly to hand out the masks and gloves, and I headed straight to the lab.

We'd found the best way to contain the patients was to put them in the driver seats of non-operating cars. The patients were all ages and sizes - another side effect of the disease was that the patients grew larger than expected for their age. On dissecting a recently deceased patient, I discovered that the part of the brain that held the conscience and religious nature was totally missing, at least in this one.

While looking into that, I heard a scuffle behind me. I turned around to look, and one of the patients had managed to figure out how to get out of the car, and was lumbering around. He found me and started tussling with me. I yelled for someone to find Dr. Thornton, the lead scientist on the team, and to bring the Tazer.

And as I was waiting for them to show up ... I woke up.

Yeah, interpret THAT!

jenkegleyInterpretation? Ahh, you're pregnant!
loruhamaYou are pregnant, very creative, and you watch too much CSI.
isabeau_danjouThe best part of this post was "I dispatched Colly..." Hahahahahaha
leahsparksWierd!
littlelambWatching too much CSI or other such shows, are we? :)
lalalalaloloJUST for the record, all I watched on TV last night was Dancing with the Stars!!
nillabarrMy interpretation is that you are pregnant! Sttttrrrrraaaaannnnnggggeeee dreams when that little one is growing inside of you! :)
julieannsmomOKaaay....you definately watch too much CSI, but i can't really talk...That sounds like the kind of dreams I have too only I'm not pregnant.
curlieThey get weirder the longer you're pregnant.
kendraluluWhen I was pregnant I had a dream that my baby was a bullfrog and I was so proud of him, because he just learned how to hop! :)
mjintexasWow. Too funny.
loloCraaaaaazy! That's how I interpret it.
girlietexanLooks like congrats are in order for you too! Things are going well...just trying to get all this wedding planning out of the way :) Do you know what you are having yet?? By the way...weird dream!!
tom_bombadilthe dream would seem to suggest a general lack on conscience and religious nature at FC.
aggiemegpray for a girl
dederichyOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN THE ONE FROM PRINCESS BRIDE AND THE ONE FROM WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING. I'M SURE OF IT!
dederichMy interpretation? You ate something weird for supper!! No, wait - you are just weird! ha
fullofgracei like the part where you only have one tazer...how very consistent with fc budgeting management....
larieWow that's bizarre...glad I could make an appearance! haha :)
rebecca_mckay_howellI had such twisted dreams when pregnant! Have you seen I Am Legend? Sounds like your dream might have ripped off the movie.
kim_boowell, i've had alot of luck at old navy but i'm tall and they have the long pants! I've gotten a couple of shirts at target!! however most of my shirts have just been the babydoll shirts, however those are beginning not to work cause they are a little shorter and my belly is getting a bit larger!
o6riley21ur insane!! i love it tho :D
sildaeI can't wait for you to come visit, either!!! It's going to be fabulous. I found a cake that I'd never heard of or made before that I think Mom will like! And with all the people, it'll be a great party day!
sildaeAnd I did find Penske was $50 cheaper... but it's still going to be a pretty penny. Oh well - I can suck it up and shouldn't complain, right?! :)
larieI don't know why anyone would do that voluntarily either!!

Well, 03-24-08 04:31pm CST
Not as bad as I'd feared. Turns out the class I was in (which I had to complete for work - all gym staff in the state have to be CPR and AED certified) was actually the first day of an EMD certification course - for dispatchers for 911. So at least I spent the day with relatively competent people. :)

I was actually only there from 8-1, as the rest of the day was stuff like describing CPR technique over the phone. That was pretty nice, especially since I spent most of the day feeling pretty yucky. :(

But yes, I did get to be intimate friends with my dummy. I think my favorite part of the whole thing is that the first step is to be sure the scene is safe - if the person is in the middle of the street, make sure you're not going to get run over. So, at the beginning of each practice scenario, we had to say "The scene is safe." It got pretty ridiculous. :) I also enjoyed the infant CPR process - one of the first steps is to tap the baby's foot, while shouting "Are you OK? Are you OK?" Why shout that? It's not like the baby's going to sit up and say, "Why, yes, Mom, I'm fine, thanks for asking!" Wouldn't it make more sense to call the baby's name or something?

As much as I may ridicule it, I actually did pay attention and feel relieved when we did the infant CPR thing - I now know what to do if my baby stops breathing, or (much more likely) chokes on something.

To those who've been asking, I'm doing well these days. It appears (knock on wood) that my morning sickness has hit the road, and while I'm still pretty lethargic, that seems to be getting better, too! Of course, I'm feeling pretty peppy today, because over the last 72 hours, I slept 33. :) That felt pretty good.

Oh, speaking of sleep, a funny. Saturday night, around 11:30, there was a loud crash just outside our bedroom door. That startled me awake, as it did Matt. Apparently it interacted strangely with Matt's dream as he woke up screaming, and then yelled, "WHO ARE YOU?" I thought, naturally, that he had seen someone at our door, who was responsible for the crash, so I FREAKED OUT. I felt him pushing on my back, which I interpreted as "Go find out what's going on." My reaction, of course, was ... No. YOU go find out what's going on. So I told him (in a whisper) to turn on his lamp, and then to go find out what that was. He told me OK, and then told me to grab the phone in case I needed to call 911. He walked halfway across the room, stopped, then hurriedly went the rest of the way and flung the door open. There was no one there (big surprise), so he went stalking around the upstairs, flicking on lights as he went. Eventually he found the culprit - the dustpan and attached broom had leapt to its death from the wall of the linen closet.

To his credit, he claims that when he pushed on me, he was just making sure I was awake. In case the loud crash and him screaming at the top of his lungs didn't do the trick ...

Never a dull moment at the Bassford home. Can you say the same for yours?
mjintexasLOL... I had a good laugh at Matt explaining away his push for you to go get the bad guy. hahahaha.
littlelambHe he. That pesky dust pan and broom!
mtnestThanks for the laugh, I needed it. =)
As far as safety goes, "if this had been a real emergency", turning on the bedside lamp would not only blind the two of you, but show the bad guy (or dust pan/broom) your exact location. You may want to rethink that one.
sildaeLol - I even read it to Justin.
aggiemegthanks for the laugh! At our house IT IS me who investigates all the strange noises. Jeremy would sleep through a tornado ripping our house apart, so he's pretty useless in the middle of the night.
graminatorToo funny!
leahsparkshaha That's pretty funny! Brandon is SOOO hard to wake up...
entheoswhen we hear an unwelcome noise in the middle of the night now, our first words are "you get him" :-) because we know exactly who and where the noises are coming from! Seriuosly though, glad all is well with you guys and we can't wait to meet baby bassford!

Argh. 03-24-08 06:29am CST
8 HOURS of CPR certification class today. How does CPR cert take 8 hours?!?!? I guess I'm about to go find out ...

Hopefully I'll see you on the flipside ... we'll see ...
sildaeThey have to tell you about it, then you have to do it, re-do it and do it again. :)
jenkegleyDon't forget, "Are you okay? Are you okay?" -- I hate having to say that. Who asks that? If you are about to start CPR, it is quite obvious that the person is not okay. I mean, really, do we have to practice saying that? I feel so goofy saying that to a dummy. Okay, my rant is over now.
loruhamaBecause by the end of it, you'll know it without having to think about it. To this day, if I were to see someone unconscious, I'd run up and slap them on the cheeks and cry, "ANNIE! ANNIE! ARE YOU ALRIGHT??" (Turning to the gathering crowd), "SOMEONE GET HELP!" While a bystander dials 911, I would begin determining their trouble. You'll be very close friends with your dummy by the end of the day. [x]
ousinger8 hours? Good grief - and I thought my 2 hour class of CPR was long :) haha!
So, how are you feeling these days? Any morning sickness?
kendraluluGood luck! Hope you day goes by fast. :)
mtnestAndrew is a chunk. Tracy said we have a skinny-minnie and a chunky-monkey. They are both off the chart for weight in opposite directions.
kristasfaewww... I don't remember it taking me that long to do that!
mjintexasThat reminds me that I'm about 2 years behind on my cert. Oops.
kerriganhaha... to this day even when i go to my bls recert that only takes 2 hours... they don't teach this to us anymore but i always say "annie, annie, are you okay?"... makes me think of michael jackson... and makes me laugh.
littlelambBetter you than me. :)
larieEwwww....yeah I do not envy you today. :) Good luck!
lovnprayersThe classes we use to offer where I worked before use to be 4 hrs at the most.

Weekend 03-21-08 03:16pm CST
Any time that 2nd trimester burst of energy wants to show up, that'd be fine by me. Seriously. :)

I've had a busy day! I woke up this morning and headed fairly immediately to the sadist dentist, to finish up a root canal that we've been working on for several months now. :) He didn't want to do any work during my first trimester, so we waited till now to finish it. I didn't have too much pain today, but it did take 2 hours.

As soon as I was done there, I went home and picked Matt up, and we headed over to Jeff and Paula's to watch their 2 kids so they could go out to lunch. We had a blast - Matt held the baby for a little while, which was VERY cute. :) I ended up feeding her and putting her to sleep ... and I decided she could just sleep in my lap. :) She had a good nap, and I very nearly did, too! :)

We left J&P's just in time to get me to work, where there were 3 ladies waiting for me to open the doors! What dedication! Beats yesterday, when I was here for almost 3 hours by myself ... :)

Monday I'm in a CPR certification class from 8a-4:30p, Tuesday I work 6-1, Thursday I work 6-1 AND 3-9 ... I need Saturday!! :)

What's planned for your weekend??
jenkegleyYard work and family Easter party. :)
kendraluluNot much...Craig wants to do some yard work; not sure what else.
lalalalaloloOh, you people that live in TX and are already doing yard work ... it snowed today!!
kendralululol....we got a lot of rain Tuesday.
leahsparksBrandon is mowing the yard now... ;) Yea...I'll probably pull out the scrapbooks for every ol lad that thinks about laying eyes on our daughters! And I'm sure Brandon will be right there cleaning his guns... haha
graminatorIs that your work schedule for this week or next week?
mjintexasHow come they don't want to do dental work in first trimester?
graminatorWe'll be there through the following weekend and probably Monday ...
rebecca_mckay_howellYou're supposed to get a second trimester energy boost? I didn't get a boost until nesting time.

You're lucky your dentist will work on your teeth while you're pregnant. My dentist wouldn't work on my teeth and I'm still waiting for him to fill a tooth in.

We're going shopping tomorrow morning and going to the pool tomorrow afternoon.

We're
sildaeChinese, brownies and Enchanted tonight with Michelle, and Justin gets to watch, too! :)
benNot if you promise to watch the other ones - you have to get ready for the new one coming out in a few months!
dederichBeing sick, laying around, coughing, cruising the net, sleeping. . .
dederichHey, update your thingy up there about the baby - i've been watching it for 2 weeks and it hasn't changed!!
graminatorWe're leaving on Tuesday, they're supposed to get here Friday night after ... hopefully we can see them for a couple of days when we get back.
sildaeMichelle and I saw it in theaters, which makes watching it together even more fun. :)
fullofgracethat's it.....your official baby-name-until-you-have-your-baby is "boomlet"!!!!!!!!

it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO perfect!!!!
kendraluluOct 5 :) You did really well!
