Chicken will have to do... 11-26-08 01:03pm EST
due to a last minute change in Thanksgiving plans. Instead of the 2 of us traveling to Fredricksburg/Hill Country for a little get away, we're staying home and cooking. I'm soft - when my son decided he wanted to come down for some "home cooking" I couldn't say no. Hopefully we can still do the Hill Country get away soon.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving - eat some turkey for me.

jerzgirlWhat a good mommy!
barkleybbHappy Thanksgiving!!
kimhazelriggI actually like chicken better :o) Glad your sons coming home for a visit.
the_momSince Lejuana isn't that common a name, I have to ask...is this the Lejuana that use to be a Plyler and is now married to Rod?
hmjmomHappy Thanksgiving. Enjoy time with your son.
quincysmomHappy Thanksgiving!
bonkrs5Happy Thanksgiving!
bekka"Happy Thanksgiving" enjoy spending time with your son.
the_momSandi Sutton Klein. When I first got to Alabama, you and Rod were there.
the_momWe're in Athens, AL now. Steve is preaching in Rogersville. Remember Ricky Cagle? He worships with us--he's never married.

Vacation... 10-11-08 06:27pm EST
- was extremely relaxing
- was way too short
- was much cooler than Texas (:
- was slightly affected by Kyle but nothing too bad (like Ike!)
- gave us the opportunity to meet christians in Portland Maine
- "forced" us to eat some wonderful food (lots of seafood and yummy desserts!)
- allowed us to view some of God's beautiful creation we had never seen before (Bar Harbor Maine (our favorite), St. John's New Brunswick and Halifax Nova Scotia) BTW - the leaves were already beautiful shades of red and gold.
- gave us time to visit, take naps, play some games, do some crossword puzzles and start planning our next vacation.

It was good while it lasted but now back to reality.

bekkaahhh Maine, it is a beautiful place, we were ther a few years ago, and look forward to going back.
kemplefamWhat was the church like in Portland? It was very small when we were there. Mark actually led singing for them on the Sunday we were there.
quincysmomYou sure get to travel a lot. I am slightly jealous. One day I hope to get the the northeast. Glad you had a good time!

I guess y'all are just following us around! We almost crossed paths at the Biltmore and now in Maine! How weird is that!!??
saricbradleyThanks! How excited are you to be a gramma?! I'm excited for Rachel & Nathan. Dad & Marcus' trip to Kenya went really well. They were ready to come home but they had a great trip. Marcus loved being back, Dad said it was like he had never left, fit in just right.

He and I are leaving this afternoon for a vacation in the northeast - US and Canada. Guess who decided to tag along??? Tropical Storm Kyle! We must be storm magnets.
kimhazelriggOh man! I hope it's not too bad. I haven't been watching the weather lately. Jamie and I attract snow storms :o)

Day 7 - Humor helps! 09-19-08 09:27am EST
- No power, tired of camping

- The Mosquito Family decided to have a huge family reunion here and every long lost distant Mosquito relative decided to come. They heard we had room at our house and are now camping with us.

- The neighbors must be having a competition to see who can get the largest, loudest, stinkiest generator.

- Front of our subdivision got power Wednesday so I must drive by all the houses with lots of lights on to get to my dark house. I just wonder what all they are doing in there.

- Ice has all melted

Believe me - in spite of all this I know I am still very blessed!
hmjmomI sure hope you get your power back soon.
christy34We are praying for you all. Glad you can find humor in all of this.
bekkaI remember weeks like those, from our 6 years of living in
kimhazelriggI'm right there with you on the generator issue. I don't understand running them all night...it's been so nice. I had a bolt of netting and cut a piece to tape up over Ethan's screen since it is a little warped...no mosquitos yet.
quincysmomI am sure it won't be very long until you are "enlightened." Sorry about the mosquitoes. Are you sleeping under a mosquito net since you are camping? ;) I am glad you are doing well!
cbonkSorry to hear you're still powerless over your lack of power! : ) Hope things get back to normal soon.
gkbakerI can't imagine. The things we take for granted.
