because certain parties that I went home for Thanksgiving with are knocking me about NOT posting for a month. I'm sure none of you know who this is. Excuse me if I've been busy with other stuff. I have greatly enjoyed my break so far, and am looking forward to a few more days of freedom. Love y'all. More later! (Remember, gluttony is still a sin, even though Thanksgiving's over:))
Sorry, y'all. Life has been very hectic. Papers, tests...Greek.... Part of me is looking forward to the end of the semester. Then again, not. Life has been a lot of fun, in spite of the boatload of work I've had and still have to do.
First and foremost, for those of you not going to FC, I started dating a guy down here, Taylor Harbin. We've been going out a grand total of three weeks:) He is such a sweet guy...how he puts up with me, I have no idea. More later....
Life is speeding by so fast, I don't know what to do with myself. A bunch of us are going to be watching the Colt-Titans game tonight (die Colts!!!:). Then on Friday, Taylor and I, along with a huge group of kids from FC are going to see Phantom of the Opera live (and on Halloween, too; isn't that cool!:). Then the election is next week. That IS scary. Please, no political debates...you vote your way, and I'll vote mine. Even though I'm not completely thrilled (sarcasm, anyone?) with either major candidate, I am excited to be voting for the first time. Voting is a privelege I hope everyone on my blog appreciates; if you don't, get off.
Well, I'm half awake, and I've got a class in fifteen minutes (LOVE the Book of Job:). I think I'll be quiet now...
For those of you that have been reading my posts over the last few months, you can rest in the assurance that now I won't talk about how excited I am to be going back to FC (as I did five million times:p). I'm so happy to be back! It feels kinda surreal after being gone for a year. Now I have to meet twice as many people since I didn't get to meet the sophomore class that came in last year, which is both fun and frustrating. Yet, I feel like I've come home. I've been surprised at how many old friends I've encountered, which is totally awesome. The new dorms are way impressive; on Saturday, I bemoaned the fact that I was staying in Hinely instead of Terrace...maybe next year.... No, I'm enjoying having Sabrina as my suitemate and having a ginormous room to myself. My class list kinda scares me, having Dr. Dickey for psycho-ology, and then Greek right before that...yeah, bye-bye to my free time. But I'm looking forward to all of the information from the Bible I'll be taking in this and the coming semesters.
Wow, am I babbling or what? Sorry, combo of minor cold and early rising. I'll have to work on getting up early this semester (8:15 classes...:P).
I must give God a lot of praise for getting me here; the financials were a little tricky this year. I must also thank my awesome parents, who are putting up a great deal of my tuition. Also thanks to Sabrina, my wonderful suitemate, who's probably happy we have locks on our respective doors (just kidding). Thanks to Paul, who's kept my stuff in his apartment for a year+ (even though some of it doesn't look like it did when I gave it to you). Alice, I am looking forward to spending a lot of time getting to know you as our schedules allow. If you ever need anything, let me know. To the rest of y'all, love ya, and have lots of fun!
P.S.: Let's pray for all the people who are about to get hit by the tropical storm/hurricane.
greetings and salutations! I am pleovillin. I'm new, and I'm trying to get to know the fine citezens of this weblog service thing called "Pleonast," is it?
Well meliss, don't watch the district, since i found out that it sounded really bad at one spot. Other than that it was pretty good. What saved us in scoring was the marching and sound quality.
Life sometimes is a see-saw, but lately mine has had a lot more ups than downs. Things are almost completely solidified for going back to FC-I just need to get a few more scholarships taken care of. I am incredibly thankful to God for one of the awesome preachers that works with the church in Ellettsville. Johnie and his wife Loretta are helping pay for a good chunk of my tuition through the Adopt program. They are living examples of the givers God wants us to be, and I thank God I have this wonderful congregation to work with. There was one scholarship that posed an interesting question, which I would like to share; let me know what you think (no, I won't use your answers on my essay:p) If you were given a chance to go back and change one thing/event in your life, would you a) use it for yourself? b) give it to someone else to use? or c)not use it at all? Thought provoking, no?
For those of you that haven't heard the good news, Paul and Alice are FINALLY engaged! We got the call the Sunday morning after it happened (which made us late for worship, thanks a lot, Paul:p) I'm so happy for the two of them, and that Paul has finally found his completer. Thank you, Alice, for being the totally awesome person that you are, and for putting up with him:)
Greg is currently down in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, dishing up food for 150 or so hungry sailors in a submarine. Don't know how he does it, but he does. The thought of going a few thousand feet underwater for several months at a time totally freaks me out.... Jeff is also doing well, and ready to go into marching band camp.
I've mentioned this about five million times since the summer began, but I'm so ready to go back to FC! I miss talking with y'all, the awesome devos, singing in chapel, even...homework, strange as that sounds. FC cannot be beat for its Bible classes and great professors. The only thing that has me a little leery is the heat and humidity--we've been getting a taste of that up here in Indiana, 95 degrees and 90% humidity. Gah. Whoever invented air conditioning should get the Nobel prize.
There are a few things I would like to ask for prayers about. First, my job has been cutting my hours, which puts a cramp in my pay. I'm having to figure out whether I can manage a second job, which I would really like not to do, but I may need to do so I can actually get the things I need for school. If you would, pray that I make the right decision on that. Also, a member of Ellettsville church, John Turk, is currently over in Iraq, doing his duty and supporting freedom. Another member's niece is also over there. I've been told the temps get to 120's+, so I really have no reason to complain. Please pray for them, and for all of our troops during this very difficult time:)
Anyway, that's about all my brain can squeeze out for now. Have fun, y'all. Stay cool (that's my motto for the summer).
TTFN!
good luck with everything! oh and i would also choose c) not use it at all...b/c either bad situations turned out to be blessings in disguise or i learned much from my mistakes
I'm not sure you can say He wouldn't "mystically" put someone in office. God works in mysterious ways... Not to presume...but remember the Florida recount, the seemingly tie between Gore and Bush...etc. Whether the Lord was behind those things...you never know. God has the ability to control the outcome of an election...any way He can choose, and sometimes that's hard to fathom just how much power God truly has.
I just got off of work, and I think the drive home was almost as tiring as being on my feet for five hours. For all of y'all down south, yes, it actually does get hot here, and you really feel it when you don't have AC in your car. So, for about half an hour, I tanned in rush hour traffic. Life is good, I'm happy (I'll be more so when I cool off), and my soul is free. Love y'all!
