My husband and I just returned from Florida, to visit our nephew and his family, this was our first vacation without our children, felt sort of like we were missing something, but we did have a wonderful time, our kids called us while we were away, I think they realized it as well, (not sure though) we were able to visit a animal sanctuary in Weeki Wachee Springs (Homossa)not sure of spelling, Harry and Elaine Rice (who used to be a preacher for Bedford CoC, took us there, they are not in the best of health, but he is preaching at a congregation that started with 10 to 12 now they have about 40 to 45 and about 4 children, they are so excited, the meet at Mariner Blvd. & Ripley St., Spring Hill, FL 34608, if would like to visit he gave me their bulletin this was given to me before the election:
TEN TOP PREDICITONS NO MATTER WHO WINS THE ELECTION!
1. The bible will still have all the answers
2. Prayer will still work
3. The Holy Spirit will still move within the Christians
4. God will still inhabit the praises of His people
5. There will still be God-anointed preaching
6. There will still be singing of praise to God.
7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people
8. There will still be room at the Cross
9. Jesus will still love you
10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him in Obedience
And God approves this message! Much to think about in these words.
I'm sorry I haven't written or called. I hope your mom is ok after last week's episode and hope your dad has had a good week. Hope this weekend has brought or will bring good family time for you all.
My Father developed dementia in Feb of this year. He has not had good couple of weeks. (He is 85 years old) My Father and my Mother have always been my light of example of what a Christian should be, growing up, we had many studies with people in our home. Anyway, my Father sometimes doesn't even know what is going on around him, but can quote scriptures from the Bible (every word correctly), I just think how the sickness has taken so much from him, but his memory of the scriptures and I WANT TO THINK, his example of his Love for the Lord is still there. I know he doesn't understand them anymore, but I want to think God blesses him to remind us that God is with him still. I could be stretching it a little, I just have to think this some days to get me thru. Just sharing some thoughts I am having today. Please keep our Friend Pauline Collier, she attend NR CofC with us,in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow 10-22-08 she is having major surgery. Eva will keep you updated as to the outcome.
I wish Abe were better; I wish your mom could have an easier time these days (you guys, too!). Isn't is wonderful, though, how ingrained the scriptures are in his mind -- that they're still with him even though he has lost so much!
I think you are right, he is still a great example. He is still able to quote the scriptures, The most important thing on this earth to do. Thank you for sharing. I know it must be very sad. You and your family will be in my prayers tonight.
One of those bitter/sweet things with your dad. What a wonderful example for us all to learn more scripture. He's got to be encouraging others so much with scripture coming from him. I think you're right about God blessing him.
Hoping and praying your friend's surgery is a success.
I am sorry that your dad has the issues that he does. I am thankful for you that you have had him for so long in your life as an example. That's amazing and it's wonderful that you find encouragement and example in your parents. Not everyone can say that about their parents. What blessings!
I know that is hard for all of you to handle, what a wonderful man he is. My mom often reminds me of when I used to sit on my mom's lap in the pew and that when he would be doing the communion and bringing the trays by I would hold my hands up for him to take me. He is a very special man with a great example that we can strive to achieve. He has had a wonderful life and he is loved by so many including me:). Thinking of you all. He walks with me and he talks with me and he tells me I am his own. Your precious mother in our thoughts as well.
It's such a wonderful blessing to have parents who have been godly examples to the world and their children. I'm happy you've had that and even thru this sad time with your Dad's dementia can look at how God has blessed you through him.
You have been blessed with parents like mine. It was wonderful having them as long as I did. I am sorry about the dementia. Concentrate on the good times, and enjoy what you can while you can.
What an example of writting the word of God on your heart. The mind my slip but the engraving is still visible. Continued prayers for your entire family.
Sorry to read that about your Dad. However, you are truly blessed to have grown up to be a Christian and to be surrounded by it as a child to an adult. I have a large family and none of my siblings are christians. I attend a wonderful church of christ here in KY and I wish I had what a lot of our members have, their families are all there together worshiping together - I always wonder if they realize how lucky they are? Just some thoughts. I will keep you in my prayers. Have a good day.
Your Dad has been such a great example to everyone around him for so many years!!! I believe your thoughts are right on!!! He and your family will stay in my prayers.
Carissa told me about Pauline yesterday. We will be praying for her as well.
I got married when I was 18
I have 3 beautiful children
I have had 2 miscarriages (hope to be able to see them someday)
I love cooking for my family and friends
It took 5 years for us to conceive our first son
As far as I know my husband and I were the last to be married at the Berea cofc before they tore it down
I really don't know how to tag but there is my 2 cents (still learning on pleonast)
I just learned how to post pics, LOL. I have been meaning to write ya! I am feeling kinda crummy tonight so I don't feel like being on here-- but, all is well here, and mom and dad are doing well, they just got home from Ark. they went to a reunion. My fam. is doing pretty well. If I sneeze one more time I think my nose is going to fall off--LOL. Anyway, it is good to see you here and keep in touch. how are the kids? It is good to see on here. how is you parents today? I know that they are ailing but glad you are around to take care of them.
Sorry you are feeling well, My children are all healthy, (thank the Lord), my husband and I might visit FL in November, not sure where I will be for services, want to visit Harry and Elaine Rice, forgot where they live, they moved so will let you know more later, hope you feel better
To tag someone, just leave a note on their blog that they are tagged...they should know what to do... or if they donot, refer them to the one who tagged you!
My folks attended the church in Berea for a while. I would love to have a bit of history of the church there and the building and why it was torn down and where did the people go. They attended there when Tom Hughes and Bobby were there.
Click over to my blog. On the left hand side of the screen under "actions" I think you will see "add to friends list. If you click on that, it should add my name to your list. If that does not work for you, I know another way to do it, and will fill you in that way. Not to worry about asking for help, everyone on is very helpful and we were all new once upon a time! Glad you joined!
I knew that Bobbie married Connie (but his last name is Adams) I have known him since I was a kid. His first wife's name had also been Bobbie and she died from Cancer.
Nobottom Road is where Luther Blackmon lived before he moved from Berea. He was the preacher there for awhile and he married me and Willy while he was there.
Yes, about 400 more. We didn't actually tour the lighthouse itself this time, though tours were being given. There were a lot of people there -- we tried twice, and the lighthouse was full, so we just went on down to the base of the cliff and took those pictures.
Riley did ok -- he had to see a vet while we were gone because of his recurring problem with skin allergies. He's on an antibiotic and an antihistamine along with his other medication. He'll have to see his vet in a few days to see how things are going and to see what she recommends he do from here. He's much better, though he still is itchy; and he's giving me problems with getting his pills down him (four pills in the morning; four in the evening; and two more in the morning every other day!).
My Thanks!
People everywhere in life
From every walk and station,
From every town and city
and every state and nation
Have given me so many things
intangible and dear,
I couldn't begin to count them all
or even make them clear...
I only know I owe so much to people everywhere
And when I put my thoughts in verse
it's just a way to share
The musings of a thankful heart,
a heart much like your own,
For nothing that I think or write
is mine and mine alone...
So if you found some beauty
in any word or line,
It's just "your soul's reflection"
in "proximity with mine"

That is very pretty, We live in Parkersburg WV, it is an hour away from Charleston WV. And almost 4 hours from Cleveland. What a nice birthday present. One of our Grandsons went to Navy today we had lunch with him before he left. And another Grandson is a senior and plays football, so it is nice to go and watch him.
carissa finally won!! She has been begging me to get on here and start meeting all of you for quite some time.
I'm not sure how things work so if you have suggestions or comments or just want to simply say hello....PLEASE DO!
My name is Delilah, I live in Ohio and attend the North Ridgeville Church of Christ. I'm a mother of 3, I am a Christian, I am a wife....more to come....
I, also, am the mother of three, a Christian, a wife, and a mother. Welcome to Pleo Land! I hope you enjoy it. My husband preaches in Seminole, TX, and our three grown sons and their families live in Texas and Florida.
Hi and welcome to Pleo, I too am new at this as of a little less than a month ago. You won't regret it! I lived in Amherst, OH from 3rd grade through 10th grade, have met quite a few Buckeyes on pleo. Looking forward to us getting to know each other. Its 2AM now so gotta crash!
hey mom! Thought I'd say hello too. You had better get on putting people on your friends list so you can talk to them! I love you, I'll see you in 2 days!!! :)
I just wanted to stop by and let you know that Rob and I appreciate all the cards of care and concern and encouragement you have sent him since he has been going to NR. You are so sweet and kind and thoughtful, I want you to know you have made a very big, positive impact and Rob, and me as well. To know that others care of him so much makes me feel wonderful. For him to see how others care for him encourages him to continue on the path we have set out on together.
Thank you for the prayers for our families affected by Hurricane Ike. They had no personal injuries, just damage that is more of a nuisance than a danger.
Thank you so much for you kind comment on my blog. And thank you for the cards you sent to David. It was very sweet and especially from someone who really only knows him from what they have heard of him.
Thank you for commenting back. Sept. seem to be very busy for you also. We have our house for sale and we just came back from Pigeon Forge and started back to work. We have been so busy. But thankful we are able.
What a neat story about your brother-in-law! Glad he had the opportunity to experience the simple pleasure of childhood - even though he's no longer a child! Things like that keep us young!
We have a contract on a ranch type house about 3 miles from where we live now. Same town, just another house. I have heard the cabins are nice in Pigeon Forge, but we stay at the Mountain Breeze motel beside Bennetts Bar -B-Que
