I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I certainly did! I left Wednesday morning for Nashville where I dropped off my car at Bobby and Jane Austin’s house and then went the rest of the way to Indiana with my parents, brother, and dog. I had a great time visiting my grandparents. We had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner. Friday morning, my grandmother, mother, brother, and I woke up at 3am to go shopping. We finished around 7:30am and headed back to the house where we had bagels from the Panera Bread Company and hot chocolate. It was so good.
Unfortunately, Levi’s grandpa passed away on Thanksgiving Day, so I headed back to Alabama on Saturday. The funeral was Sunday afternoon. After the funeral, Levi and I headed to a hispanic congregation in Athens, AL for worship service. I understood the things that were said, which made me very happy. I love Spanish. :o) Levi understood about half of the sermon.
I will be through with the semester this Friday. Jennie and I are having a Christmas party that night. Levi and I will head to GA on Thursday, Dec 11. Lord willing, my family and Levi will leave Dec. 13th for Disney World where we will stay a week. This will be Levi’s first trip to Disney World, and I am so excited that he is coming. He and I are doing well.
I hope everyone has a great rest of the semester!
Love,
Leisa~
So sorry to hear about Levi's grandfather...please express my sympathy to him. Sounds like you had an interesting trip and hope you will have a great trip to Disney World. That's where Melanie wants to take Isabella for her 5th birthday in May. Have a wonderful time and a good December.
Wow! that is a long trip for Thanksgiving; sounds like fun! Sorry about Levi's grandpa; I hope Levi is taking it well. Have fun at Disney World! Is there any chance you'll be in Tampa at any point during your trip?
“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; and let them say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns.’” –1 Chron. 16:31
“The Lord reigns; Let the peoples tremble! He dwells between the cherubim; Let the earth be moved!” –Psalm 99:1
No matter who may be in power on earth, the Almighty still reigns and takes care of His people.
Helton Drive’s gospel meeting is going well. It has been a blessing to go and hear God's Word at the end of each day. Yesterday there was so much hype about the election, so it was nice to be able to go to a quiet place away from the world and worship.
School and work are going well. Lately, I’ve been cooking more. I have discovered that when I have the time to devote to it, cooking can be somewhat enjoyable. Levi is coming over on Saturday morning, and I am going to fix him breakfast. I found a new muffin recipe that I want to try.
I have an internship next semester. Lord willing, I will be working at Russellville Middle School. There is a huge Hispanic population there, and I will be translating what the teacher says to the Hispanics in her class. How cool (and a little scary) is that?! :-) Everyday, I will have to write (in spanish) a report about what I’ve done. At the end of the semester, I will have to write a big paper in Spanish about the internship. I am going to be given an Oral Proficiency Interview at the start of next semester to see how good my Spanish is. I’m nervous about it, but I think it will be a great opportunity. Please pray for me.
Armando (a brother in Christ) and Vanessa (a sister in Christ) will be getting married on Saturday, Lord willing! They live in Colombia. I am happy for them. Calvin is currently in Colombia because he is performing the ceremony. Please pray for him to have safe travels.
This post is getting too long, so I will close.
Con amor,
Leisa :-)
I didn't have classes last Friday, so Levi and I left Thursday afternoon for GA. We went bowling with my brother on Friday. I managed to bowl several strikes. It was fun. I bought black boots and a skirt over the weekend. New things are fun. Saturday, Levi and I watched "Lady and the Tramp." I don't think Levi cared to watch it, but he was nice enough to sit through it. Saturday afternoon, we left for Ryan and Jennifer Hasty's house for a singing. It was encouraging, and I was glad I got to see them again.
Last night, I went to the Collegeview bible study. Mark White led a really good talk on "Being useful for the Master" from 2 Tim 2. I was reminded of Mrs Dodd telling me how she prayed for God to-- not just use her-- but use her up in His service. I want to be used.
Thursday, Jennie and I are having a game night at our apartment. Saturday, she and I are having a party. It should be fun.
I talked to my dear friend, Ruth, yesterday. She lives in Bogota, Colombia. She practiced her English with me, and I got to use my Spanish. I was happy to hear from her. Please remember to pray for the brethren in South America!!
You'll just have to rematch the boys next year in the carving contest. I saw stickers at Target to place on pumpkins that said things like "Cutest" and "Dead Last" but I didn't buy them. I think I would have needed way to many "Best in Show" or something like that at our party. Everybody was so talented!
oh, i just watched that the other day when I was off. it's great isn't it? I love Jacques and the hound dog. Hope you're well. What are you up to these days? Saw your parents this past weekend. :-)
Never tried #6 but will soon...Hugh will probably like it too...he is still making those chocolate shakes...only with fat free stuff since he can't afford the calories now. Thanks for your sympathy..do you remember the older couple that always sits in the back on the left as you come in the building? I don't know if you remember that or not...I bet your Dad and Mom would remember. Those are interesting facts about you, most of them I didn't know, except for #3 and 4.
ok so number 6 sounds great! number 7 i SOOOO LOVE HALLMARK STORES TOO...for some reason it reminds me of my mom and when i miss her i just go by there...haven't been in there in a while though...they've usually got really cute holiday stuff!
