so ive kinda been getting sucked into listening to the presidential stuff on the talk radio stations...
today i heard on the radio that when you tour the jelly bean factory they give you a free jelly bean: a blueberry one if you are for obama or a cherry one if you are from mccain. 53.5% choose the cherry one for mccain. i found this slightly humorous.
I've also heard that there are car washes with multiple lanes and you can choose to wash your car in one and "vote" for McCain, and another lane and "vote" for Obama. The owners of the car wash said it was intended to be all in good fun, but that people would literally wait in LONG lines to "vote" for their candidate instead of just washing their car in the shorter line. I dont' remember who they said was ahead at the time of the report on the news. But I think that's kind of funny, too.
i heard how some gas stations were selling blue and red cups for the candidates, and based on that it was saying that obama was winning...but who really is purchasing coffee at gas stations?
yeah, i guess its been a while. so im moving again. into a much newer house here in bowling green. its pretty cool. my room is smaller than my last room, but i think it will end up being a lot nicer. i have real carpet in my room now instead of linoleum floors which was really weird.
i started my construction job back a month or 2 ago and its going ok i guess. i wear sleeveless shirts most of the time and so i have a really awkward tan line on my shoulders.
at work we just finished building a house for st jude. its really nice. it would be about $400,000 but i think we ended up building it for about 1/4th of that because a lot of people donated stuff. like my boss isnt getting paid for the contracting and some plant nursery donated about $20,000 in just plants.
so i had a couple pretty close calls at work today. i was driving along minding my business taking a 2000 pound load of tile to a house and the guy in front of me slammed on his breaks to keep from running into the next guy. so i slammed on my brakes and my wheels locked up and the heavy load on my trailer just kept pushing me and i ended up in a ditch. a couple guys stopped and helped me get out which i am so thankful for. but we had to unhook the trailer for me to get out of the ditch which was really hard since all the tile was in the front of the trailer making it near impossible to get off the hitch.and in the process of getting it off the hitch it fell on my hand smahing it against a board. they ahd to pry it off with a massive spud bar. it hurt. i just kept waiting to hear every bone in my hand snap. but luckily it didnt. but it is still pretty sore.
ive been to a few decent local concerts in the past couple weeks. i saw the shake em ups which is a band from texas. i really liked them. they are coming back through in sept i think and im gonna try to get a bunch of people to go.
well, thats pretty much everything exciting going on in my life right now.
Well, I have a new phone and new phone number. Its pretty cool.
I am planning a trip to NC on spring break. Let me know if you are interested.
School is going pretty well. Cant wait to be done.
I just quit one of my jobs. So now i have tuesdays and thursdays off from work and school. But ill end up doing school stuff on those days.
I hate taxes. They tax you on what you make and then turn around and put a sales tax when you spend the money they already taxed. AND i was just thinking today... suppose i am a business owner... i pay income tax and sales taxes. thats getting taxed twice. then, the money i pay every employee gets an income tax and sales tax when spent. so essentially the money i would make as an owner would get taxed 4 times! ght now i get about 1/4 of my check taken out for taxes/medicare/ss/whatever else. if i payed a worker $20,000 a year without all those taxes i could pay him 15,000 a year and i would be making 5000 a year more. and if i was paying 16 employees like my boss is i would be making $80,000 more a year! all i know is that if the forefathers of this country came back today and saw this they would be furious, as am i.
on a lighter note, here is something i stole from conan obrien:
While your disgust with taxes is definitely valid and there is lots of economics you can learn about that, the thing about a business owner making more money if his employees didn't have to pay taxes probably isn't. Just because the tax burden is relieved wouldn't necessarily mean that employees would demand less compensation for thier work.
I suppose the real question is what government service the worker would lose if the tax was ended. That would determine how much more in salary he would require in order to be "whole" again.
well thats a good question... i have organic chem 1 and 2 ALL summer so i don't think i'm going to be there much...but i'm going to try to come as much as i can!
Uw! Sorry 'bout the blister. I'm doing good. Joel and Anna were here for the beginning for the week and we had fun with them. Have you ever played Apples to Apples? That's our "family game" and we played it last night. It was hilarious!
Ben, do you think Abbey and I could stay with your parents May 27th? We were looking to stay with someone in the panhandle on our cross country trip. If you think so, just let me know! thanks buddy!
so these people cloned a cat that glows. why cats? we dont need anymore of them. why not do it to animals that can surprise us in the night and kill us like bears or lions or snakes or spiders. no, they had to clone a house cat.
i saw i am legend tonight. it was pretty good. i really like will smith.
i think we are planning to watch nacho libre at our house tomorrow night if any of yall want to come.
I saw I am Legend too...it was ok but it made me sick....it was the way they did the cameras...and plus we had to sit 3 rows from the front...so I really didn't watch a lot of it...but what I saw I liked! :)
