Hello all! Wishing a wonderful Thanksgiving for all of you and safe travels for anyone travelling.
I'm heading to the Triggs in Martinez GA and Lord willing, be home tomorrow evening. I believe this is the 3rd year in a row to do this now. Does that mean this is a tradition now?
Kathleen sure did make me feel good though when she emailed me to ask how long I was staying. She wrote, "Forever?" :) Good friends.
As Jason said last night during the invitation, let's remember to be thankful everyday. And I am thankful for all of my Pleo friends. Some I've met, and some I haven't. If we ever get to meet, that would be great. And if not, well, we'll meet in heaven!
God's blessings are so wonderful. Wishing each of you a blessed day.
Aww! I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving and time w/ the Triggs! :) Every time you come to visit us, we, like Kathleen, wish you would stay forever, too!
I do wonder if that's, perhaps, what Smokey was thinking last night??
I'm on the couch watching tv when I notice Annabelle sliding underneath the rocking chair. Cats would be REALLY good doing the limbo. (I couldn't have gotten that low even in my young days, I don't think!!) She was under there quite awhile and apparently, just thought it was great.
Smokey had been sitting (and sleeping) comfortably in the chair and all was right in her little feline world. Then suddenly, her chair begins to move from beneath her, and she's hearing noises. She hops out of that chair and just stares. From a human perspective, it was quite funny - the look on her face!
She sticks her little nose under the skirt of the chair to investigate but eventually goes to her other chair. And eventually, Annabelle comes out. I'm glad I saw her go under there because if I ever can't find her, it's another place I know to look.
So, if you're ever at my house and decide to rock, please first check to see if there's a cat beneath the rocking chair. Thanks!
Christie's parents have a chocolate lab named Hershey!
When we're in BG, we usually worship at Morgantown, about 30 minutes away where Andy preaches almost full time. When we do worship in BG, it has been at Parkway.
Wow! Some of those Amish remedies for morning sickness are strange. I had heard of the eating saltines before you get out of bed and eating them throughout the day. They say that it helps if you keep something in your stomach all the time. That has helped me as well. Just little things throughout the day. Thanks for sharing those and for the sweet comments about David. Hugs!!!
This is an email a friend sent that listed comments by kids in church. Children do not "hear" the way we do, and they often perceive things differently. Some of these are probably a twist of other funny things heard/said that periodically go around. While some bring a chuckle, some can/should make adults sit up and take notice. Here you go! Have a great Saturday, everybody.
1. One particular four-year-old prayed, "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."
2. A Sunday school teacher asked her children as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping." (Note from me..."hmmmm...")
3. A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?" "I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered. The daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"
4. 3-year-old Reese: "Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen."
5. A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5 and Ryan 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'" Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, "Ryan, you be Jesus!"
Having having the twins, I have a higher % of having another set. I haven't had an ultrasound, yet; however, I have already gained 5 lbs (and I am only 6 weeks along). This happened when I was pregnant with the twins.
I am used to having it done at the first appointment, however our insurance was switched from a PPO to HMO and now they probably will not do it until the second trimester. I was wanting to know sooner than that; but I guess I will have to get some patience!
Yes, unfortunately, I need the company's coming motivator these days, too. I was bemoaning how much I wanted to get done before they arrive, and Bob reminded me that I work better under pressure. Trouble is, I find my stamina doesn't hold up as well to pressure as it did in the "good old days"! ;)
I've decided to embark on a study of Ezekiel. I'd planned to just first read it through, but I can't seem to just do that. I find myself referring to like scriptures and writing them down in the margins!
Yesterday was my first day, and I just finished reading chapter 13. Unless I've miscounted, so far there are 15 passages with the words, "shall know that I am the LORD."
In chapter 9 the man clothed in linen tells the LORD, "I have done as You commanded me." In chapter 12 Ezekiel writes, "So I did as I was commanded."
My thought is what a difference between the situations. Far better to 'do as commanded' because WE KNOW HE IS THE LORD than
have something happen - like captivity - or be like the foolish prophets of chapter 13 so that "we SHALL KNOW He is the LORD."
One day it will be too late to know He is the LORD. "...though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them" (Ezekiel 8:18).
My head is reeling with all the life applications, but this was one I wanted to share. Have a blessed day, and may we all KNOW HE IS THE LORD.
You know Liz, if I haven't said it before, I'll say it now, "Thank you for all the sacrifices that you made and your family made while you worked to serve and protect our country and keep us free! God bless your heart of servitude, and may He richly bless you for all that you do in His spiritual warfare against evil. And I agree with you about not getting me going on the cut backs on our military.
Great study Liz, I as a young mom sat and read, proverbs and it guided me in so many ways to raise our sons. He does give us all that we need pretaining to life and godliness. We serve such an awesome God!
My friend, Kathleen, sent me this email. Can't take credit for it, but I amen it!

I like this! Thanks for the congrats! We are settling in here in Otterbach, GE and making great friends through our Christian family here in Ramstein. A newly wed couple lives just 3 minutes from us so it's great!!! :) Love you!!!
Otterbach is a nice sized town with several places to shop but also plenty of places to walk. We like it but haven't had too much oppurtunity to explore yet. We've been busy recently! I hope that Aslan adjusts well when the new baby comes but we'll have to wait and see!!!
I talked to Jesse the other day...I'm doing the Kennessaw Buy Back! He seemed happy to hear from me and to know that I was willing. At this point I'm willing to do any work.
Of course I still remember you. And yes, I am in the Baltimore area. I live in Glen Burnie but don't work with the church there. I'm in the next town, Severn. And yes, it's a full-time work with the church there. You can check us out here: www.swcofchrist.com. What are you up to these days?
Oh my - we do have chair flops, esp on Sundays, when we have 8 more smaller ones added to the mix. (I don't teach every Sunday.) WE had more chair flops especially when we were meeting on uneven dirt floor. Poor kiddos! Helps em learn to try to keep the chair legs on the ground though!!
Last night right before we started I mentioned that Paola was going to flash the flash to take some pictures so friends in the United States, like the friends who sent drawings of their lessons and stickers) could see us ready to learn about the bible. We hoped to have more photos for your kids... I was toying with the idea of a short video clip hello... but then we had camera problems and 2 is all we got. Another day. It's so hard to sacrifice class time, though, to get something to send back!! Ohh... my heart is torn!
Hi, Liz! Yep, you have it right. This is Julie, who's Grandmother attends at Bethany and with a mother named LaKeta! LOL. Hope you are doing well also!
