Laura is home from the hospital today after having a surgery to help her with her sinus troubles. She was on her fourth sinus infection this year and we weren't even making good progress with the antibiotics the doctor was giving her. So, she went in today and had a 45 minute surgery to open up her blocked right nostril. Once she woke up in the hospital and was able to speak, she said she could feel the difference immediately. We're back at home and she's trying to go to sleep... Her recovery will take probably 2-3 days, and then she'll still need to take it easy for a total of 10 days (no heavy lifting, etc...)
Thanks John! We miss you all too. :( I am crossing my fingers that we make it to Kentucky tomorrow - Jake, Natalie and I have had a stomach bug ALL WEEK! Yesterday was my worst day. I feel slightly better today... So, I am praying that we are okay to travel tomorrow! Hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Love you both lots! ♥
Mike and I spent Thanksgiving in Louisville. It was fun to spend time with your sis and Daniel and the kiddos. Dallas looks good and seems to be doing well. Dallas and Mallory were quiet around Mike and I but they don't know us either. They warmed up quite a bit by the time Friday night rolled around and we ate at Tumbleweed Mexican Restaurant with them and Rob, Lynn and Taylor. Looks like Mallory and Taylor hit it off really well :-). Love ya, Gena

TODAY on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on an "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed--just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I didn't write the story above - I got it from one of those emails I usually trash as "not funny" because it was forwarded to 50 people and not checked on Snopes. This one is humorous though, so I decided to share it. - John
I'm trying to figure out this analogy. I'm assuming the story is trying to explain Obama's tax plan. (I could be wrong about this.) If that's the case, the story gets it wrong. It would be more correct to say that the owner of the restaurant, assuming he makes more than $250,000 per year, would have a few additional percentage points taken off of his total income (income tax) which would benefit the waiter indirectly through government-funded programs like Social Security, public libraries, police and fire departments, etc. Giving the waiter's tip to the homeless man wouldn't even be a good representative of the welfare program. The waiter's income tax as well as the customer's income tax would be going to the government to support programs like, among other things, welfare. This is my understanding of it. Click here for Obama's tax plan. Feel free to tell me if I'm totally wrong here. I have to admit that when reading about economics, my eye's glaze over. LOL!
I don't think I am gonna listen to this one babe because I ain't gonna get it stuck in my head. Plus I am sure I'll hear you sing it around this house at some point. hehe. ;) love you.
I'm not gonna listen b/c it's probably something ridiculous like Choc. Rain and those NEVER get out of my head! Hope ya'll are well. I am just not rejoining the Pleo-world!
Yes, all lessons are at College View's building. I assume you preach, and if so, where? Where does your mom live? I've only been in E'town a little over a month, but if you'll let me know her name, I'll be on the lookout for her the rest of this week!
Thank you sweetie. It was very nice being able to watch a movie with you and now see you fall asleep on the couch as me and your daughter/dog watch you as the storm passes. :) xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
How's the 5K training going? I'm so excited for you! Running is such a great escape and makes you feel SOOOO good - mentally AND physically! You are going to be so proud of yourself when you cross that finish line on race day!! ;)
WOW! That is quite an elevation change for a three mile stretch! I don't have to worry about hill in good ole' central ohio. The areas I run in are flat as a pancake! :D When I started running, I went full speed ahead - running every day for several miles (until I thought I was going to die!). About a week and a half into it, my knees were killing me! So I backed off for about four days, gave my knees a good rest, then started up again - but only every other day. I started stretching better too. Since then I haven't had any problems with my knees! I actually have Condramylasia Patella (however you spell it) in my knees but I have no problems as long as I stretch and don't over do it.
Laura has been having a terrible time with migraines lately. We were at the ER last night and they couldn't really do much for her. I think she jinxed herself by posting on pleo that her migraines were doing better. Anyway, we'll be going to see her neurologist later this week to try another medicine and to see if we can learn what's causing them.
I would appreciate it if you will keep us in your prayers. Laura is very frustrated, as you can imagine. Also, it's difficult for me to watch Laura suffer with multiple chronic illnesses and not being able to do much to help her (other than what I do already.)
Hello, Janice here. I spent the weekend with Amy H. at her parents' home in Burnet. I asked about you and Laura and came to your blog to check on you. I'll be praying!
