Last evening a small group went to sing with an elderly gentleman from our congregation who is confined to an assisted living/nursing home. It was so uplifting for me as I watched this man, who cannot communicate very well, sing songs of praise and worship to God. With his wife of approx. 60 years by his side - they both enjoyed the company and the songs.

The last song we sang with him was "I Need Thee Every Hour". As we sang the song, he reached over and put his arm around his wife. What a lovely sight! Needless to say, the tears formed in my eyes. Not only for their love for each other but their love for the Lord as they face probably the most difficult thing in their married life - separation from each other here on this earth.

I don't know how people face difficulties in life without their faith in God and their family of Christians.

ladidoddi started crying just reading what you wrote.
ladidoddi am my fathers daughter ;)
kauaiHey Lois...D.S. in CC Tx.
dmvThat's awesome! Is Emily getting excited about the big move?
adampuali really wish i had been able to come :(
kaceyatthebatso sweet! thanks for coming over today. it really makes my day to have visitors and we really don't get to see friends that often anymore. i hope to be in austin for Clara's birthday...but we'll see.
ilovepondsScenes such as these put every thing in this life into perspective, don't you think? We trouble and toil over such little challenges, and then something like this explains what it's all about in the long run!
zzpAmen!!! Hi Lois it is Shawnn from Plano.
debanawww...sweet story!
lauraroseboroughLois...that makes me happy to hear that some of you are able to go and do that for the Howards. I know from seeing my great grandma and how much she loved hearing the songs of praise, how it lifted me as well. She always loved me seeing a song I learned from camp called, " The Mountain Song." I am not sure if that is the correct name but that has always lifted me too. I love hearing a group sing because it lifts me too when I am down and weak, and in pain too. Miss you all.
rose42i wish i could have been there.
musicmom66Hi, Lois from Betsy Thompson who used to be Betsy Mercer
lauraroseboroughHappy Mother's Day to you. I hope you have a great one.
viarostultegaWell hello there. I can't shove you out of a pew over the Internet :).
viarostultegaSeriously though...I was glad I went.
viarostultegaRather, am glad.
lauraroseboroughLois, this is Laura Roseborough, from church. I am not sure if you have me as a friend added or not but I keep seeing this post. I also don't know if you are getting my updates either on my blog. If not let me know because I have gone private for various reasons. I hope to find you and your family doing okay.
ex_patLois, I'm not sure if you remember me. I'm Ann Byers (Tim's wife). David probably remembers Tim. Our son Jared is a Jr. @ A&M and attends with your daughter. It was so nice of what you all did for Beth.
madaboutthemouseLois, this is Dana Ritchie. I found you on Beth Shurtleff's blog. How are you guys?

last night 07-02-07 01:38pm CST
Emily has already mentioned this - but 2 little girls (age 3 & 6) spent the night last night. It brought back fond memories of 2 small girls in our house. The funniest part was the sleeping arrangements. This is how it started and ended:

#1 - 3 yr old on floor in Emily's roon in sleeping bag and 6 yr. old on floor in Amanda's room (who is also sleeping on floor next to her).
#2 - 3 yr. old in sleeping bag on Emily's bed.
#3 - 3 yr. old wants sister in Emily's room - both girls on floor with Emily on bed.
#4 - They want Amanda with them - so 3 yr. old gets in bed with Amanda and Emily sleeps on floor in Amanda's room next to 6 yr. old. Every one finally feel asleep.
#5 - Amanda moves to Emily's bed because 3 yr. old is "taking up too much room".

The funny thing is this all took place in a matter of 1 hour. David & I were laughing - Emily & Amanda were exhausted and loved the girls but decided that neither one wants kids for at least 10-15 years!!!!

ladidoddhahaha! what fun :) why is it so hard for me to think emily and amanda are not still that age???
blueeyesThat is to funny! They are such precious little girls!
mladymanYou know, when my kids did that, I used to look at them, say "You look like you're coming down with a cold" and give them all Benadryl! Out like a light in ten minutes! Guess the "Lois and David laughing" bit comes from knowing that YOU didn't have to hassle with the kids! Good training for when you become grandparents.........
cascadingharmonyHahaha...fun fun!
I still use the Benadryl for myself! Hehe
ilovepondsWe would still love to find a time for whoever can meet in the Dallas/FtW area for a mini reunion, maybe at the Johnson's?
amyhamamythose girls are too cute to care! of course, this is said by someone who had a good night's sleep.

Today 06-09-07 09:49pm CST
Today - we cleaned our garage. It took a bit of coaxing, but I finally convinced David it was a good day for the job. We took everything out - which isn't too much since we park 2 cars in the garage all the time - but we still had a lot of stuff in there.

We sent oil to Jiffy Lube - they recycle for no charge - and I am putting kitty litter in old paint that hasn't dried. It is amazing how many things we kept that we did not need. The most exciting thing happened when I picked up a board and there were a couple of geckos on it - after I screamed and dropped it -David swept it out. I'm sure they won't come back!

But now, it is clean (or as clean as a garage can get).

Even Em noticed when she came home from work tonight!
cascadingharmonyHaha...that last sentence. Those moments are awesome.
mladymanSo, when is the garage sale?
mladymanAND, want to clean out mine? Since you're in practice and all that ......
mirrorjranchThere is a lizard hiding somewhere in my garage. I saw it the other night but lost it in a pile of junk. I'm hoping my cats have found it by now :)
emily_reneeSo glad I wasn't home for the gecko experience. Gross! *shivers*
ilovepondsThe lizard is in Amanda's room. Glad you finally got that garage cleaned out, btw!
kaceyatthebatwelcome to gold!
amyhamamynow you can come clean my garage!
shutterflyThanks for the welcome... How else am I going to find out about things? Like people who actually clean their garages and can find things! Wow!
