Last evening a small group went to sing with an elderly gentleman from our congregation who is confined to an assisted living/nursing home. It was so uplifting for me as I watched this man, who cannot communicate very well, sing songs of praise and worship to God. With his wife of approx. 60 years by his side - they both enjoyed the company and the songs.
The last song we sang with him was "I Need Thee Every Hour". As we sang the song, he reached over and put his arm around his wife. What a lovely sight! Needless to say, the tears formed in my eyes. Not only for their love for each other but their love for the Lord as they face probably the most difficult thing in their married life - separation from each other here on this earth.
I don't know how people face difficulties in life without their faith in God and their family of Christians.

Emily has already mentioned this - but 2 little girls (age 3 & 6) spent the night last night. It brought back fond memories of 2 small girls in our house. The funniest part was the sleeping arrangements. This is how it started and ended:
#1 - 3 yr old on floor in Emily's roon in sleeping bag and 6 yr. old on floor in Amanda's room (who is also sleeping on floor next to her).
#2 - 3 yr. old in sleeping bag on Emily's bed.
#3 - 3 yr. old wants sister in Emily's room - both girls on floor with Emily on bed.
#4 - They want Amanda with them - so 3 yr. old gets in bed with Amanda and Emily sleeps on floor in Amanda's room next to 6 yr. old. Every one finally feel asleep.
#5 - Amanda moves to Emily's bed because 3 yr. old is "taking up too much room".
The funny thing is this all took place in a matter of 1 hour. David & I were laughing - Emily & Amanda were exhausted and loved the girls but decided that neither one wants kids for at least 10-15 years!!!!

Today - we cleaned our garage. It took a bit of coaxing, but I finally convinced David it was a good day for the job. We took everything out - which isn't too much since we park 2 cars in the garage all the time - but we still had a lot of stuff in there.
We sent oil to Jiffy Lube - they recycle for no charge - and I am putting kitty litter in old paint that hasn't dried. It is amazing how many things we kept that we did not need. The most exciting thing happened when I picked up a board and there were a couple of geckos on it - after I screamed and dropped it -David swept it out. I'm sure they won't come back!
But now, it is clean (or as clean as a garage can get).
Even Em noticed when she came home from work tonight! |
