Feb. 13th... well? What is everyone doing for Valentines Day?
We have work, school parties, basketball game... so we may have to find romance in the little things in life. Text messages in the middle of the day, foot rubs, I can't think of anything else, sad huh? Happy 15th Valentine's Day to my Valentine...
Oh yes... the trip... it was really nice. We spent the first night in the Dallas airport because of a fog delay but the kids loved staying where we could see and hear the airplanes take off right outside our window. We got to our hotel in Honolulu and checked in and went out to see the ocean. It was beautiful. The next day we were up at 4 am (5 hr. timechange). So the kids were ready to surf at 6. They took lessons and got up the very first time. We ran into some friends from Ft. Smith who we found out were staying in the same hotel as us, weird huh. We went to Pearl Harbor and got to experience the history of that really sad day. The kids were very interested in the ships and all. Especially Zack. The next day we flew to Maui on a really small airplane. Gram and Pop picked us up and took us to the condo we would be staying in. Gram fixed breakfast and we went to the beach. It was really nice, very windy and it rained on and off. My brother and his family came the next day and we all stayed in one three bedroom condo. We found a really cool park and went to it on Christmas day. We ate in our condo some and went out some. We went to a real live luau... it was fun. Fire twirling, drums, and a monkey head made out of a coconut. We went to the movies to see National Treasure II, Snorkling on the reef, and aquarium and lots of hanging out time. I got to run most days and went to a yoga class or two. Todd read a couple of books. Our flight from Maui was a little scary but we got back safe and sound. Hawaii is a wonderful place to visit... we like where we live.

A very good friend was recently diagnosed with cancer... so much so that the end is very near. I need to reflect on the things she taught me.
To care for my family, husband, to make a house a home, to raise three wonderful children to be strong Christian people who married well and then became really concerned parents. She taught me how to have fun and laugh, how to raise daughters who love and respect her. How to make lunch everyday for her husband that adored her. She taught me how to let go of children but still be a part of their lives. She taught me that a woman has many roles but the most important one is to teach your children about God and take care of your husband. I know she will be with God soon, and I'm sad for her family who will miss her greatly. I am grateful to have known her.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It looks as though she lived her life as God wants us all to. We are very blessed when we are fortunate to have someone like that as an example in our lives. I will keep her family in my prayers. Here's a hug for you!
