I'm moving home to Kansas City. I'll be leaving Florida at the end of this semester, more specifically, Dec. 10th. Its so soon! I'm going home to go to school and work for a semester before I head to Texas, Lord willing! I have had a really hard time telling those of you who are in Florida so I took the coward's route by posting it here. I'm sure I'll deal with the consequences tonight at church :) The hardest part of this decision was leaving my church family at Seffner. I love you all so much and am so thankful to have had you in my life!
On the flip side, I can't wait to be home, I can't wait to be with my family for awhile. I think this is what's best for me right now and I'm so thankful that my parents are willing to let me move back in for a while :)
while you will be missed, im sure your family will be happy to have you back home. its always hard being away from family (well i wouldnt know, i can throw a rock at my in laws house). i hope everything works out for you and wish you the best of luck!
Ah man!!! That totally stinks! Well, it is probably the best for you, so I am glad for you...but not for us at Seffner. You will definitely be missed!!! And don't worry...since I didn't read this till AFTER church tonight...you can have my wrath on Sunday! ;)
Oh my lands...I know Gabby has not read your post yet. She's gonna be so sad (guilt trip working?). I know it will be special to be back home; we will miss you so terribly. You're such a wonderful young woman. Will you please keep in tough with us? Oh my...I'm sad already.
Your mom cried Wed. night as we talked about this. She's sad cause things did not go as planned in FL - but I think it will be a good time for you to regroup before you head off to Texas. Hope you get in at Park or wherever and find a job!!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing you soon. Love Ya!!!!
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
ok so the quality on these is terrible, and i made them small cos i took 'em w/my phone, but i was able to see davis island and clearwater beach when i flew out, and thought it was pretty neat
I don't know about being wise - that's funny since that's what our ladies study was about tonight. I think I just always have advice that I give a little too freely. :) Open mouth insert foot! :) I can't wait til you are closer to. And closer to what you are really searching for. Have a good day! Love you!
Listen I have never seen dance moves like that come from me and Ryan. Especially when there is no music playing! We do dance as a family to music but this is a new low! :)
1. I was once proposed to on Valentine's Day in the middle of Lee Roy Selmon's. Someone thought it would be a really funny joke :) There were lots of people watching! I said yes so as to avoid the people in the restaurant feeling really awkward.
2. I’m semi-obsessed with pick-up trucks. If it were not for crazy gas prices I would buy one as soon as I could.
3. I’m a cryer! My tears come easily and frequently. It’s in my genes :) Thanks, dad
4. In second grade, I wanted to be a “Professional Babysitter” when I grew up.
5. Unlike my loud mouth sister, I’m more reserved :) And surprisingly enough, this gets me in trouble too. I can’t count anymore the number of people who have told me that they thought I was mean and/or intimidating when they first met me!
6. I was voted “Most Likely to Win a Nobel Prize” in high school. Whatever that means
7. My freshman year of college was quite possibly the best year of my life thus far. I made the best friends in the world and I spend nearly everyday trying to figure out how I can be reunited with them.
8. I had a blood clot in my left leg my Junior year of High School that kept me from playing basketball for the season. Turns out I have some sort of genetic disposition to clotting.
Luke and Lily get to be something that we already have because I'm not spending money on costumes this year. Poor kids! Luke keeps changing his mind between the costumes that he has but most often he says he wants to be Peter Pan. Lily is going to be Minnie Mouse. I just need to get her a black turtleneck to wear under it so it will be warmer.
Yep, we sure did. That was such a fun trip, I've been hooked on skiing ever since. I loved everything about that trip except everytime I walked upstairs in the condo we were in I got awful nose bleeds, it was the weirdest thing...oh yah, and you fainting was not the best part either...I guess neither of us were use to the high altitude yet:)
I calle dyour sister a snot the other day - due to the fact she told me she puked on the Mizzou isignia on my page. You Hawk people are mean! Ha Ha. Thank you for being my professional babysitter over the years. I wish you were still here to babysit the boys although I have started leaving them alone for very short periods during the day. Thanks for playing.
Hey sweetie...I got your message last night. I was out of town...not sick. I drove my mom to SC...a third of her way to Ohio. So I was driving back all day yesterday! :( Thanks for thinking of me though! Are you going to the fall festival at the Mullins'?
She is getting bigger thats for sure. We are on day 6 of potty training and only 2 accidents total and one was my fault. I can't wait til you come home and we can see you.
It was so good to see you this weekend. I'm sorry you are having a rough time. I hope the trip home helped with your moral. Good luck on the job hunt. Maybe we'll see you in a couple of weeks, maybe we won't. Either way has pros & cons. Love you!!!
Ok, after much urging and much procrastination, I'm finally ready to put up a new post.
Thanks for all the prayers while we were in Jamaica. The work there was very rewarding. Three were baptized! I met some amazing people; both Jamaicans and those who traveled down in our group. I'm so blessed and I pray that I'll be able to go back next year. Please continue to pray for the brethren in Jamaica, they live in a harsh environment and they face hardships and trials far greater than anything we can imagine here in the states.
As for what I'm up to now: I'm in my apartment with my three wonderful roommates and having so much fun! I'm taking some challenging courses this semester and they're starting to weigh on me so I'm spending a lot of time reading and studying. I'm adjusting to going to a huge university as opposed to my sheltered little FC world. It's been a shock. It's hard to get used to having such worldly professors who actually do make jokes about people with morals... I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself... over and over again.
I'm in the process of trying to find a new job... not fun! I have a job right now but it's further away than I'd like so I'm ending up spending most of my paycheck on gas. I'm looking for something that is closer to where I live and that pays a comparable amount, but thus far, I'm not having much luck. I guess I've always just had jobs pretty much handed to me but now I'm doing it the hard way and struggling like most people do when looking for a job. If you have any suggestions let me know!
Finally, I miss my family and everyone at church back home!Love you guys. Enjoy fall! Come visit me when it gets too cold up there :)
wonderful, lynz. thanks. i will pray for you to find a job closer to home, soon. trust me. just putting the gas pump into my gastank makes me want to throw a hissy-fit every time i do it. have a great week. love you!!
Drew is feeling better. He's actually up right now, he was up before the alarm. He took a breathing treatment, took his handful of allergy meds, and we're gonna try to make it through the school day. His teacher knows about his allergies and asthma (of course) and she's good about letting him self-medicate in the classroom. She allows him to load his own nebulizer and use it, which is wonderful, then he doesn't have to wheeze all the way to nurses office or my classroom to take a treatment. Hopefully very soon I can get him on shots and a big portion of these issues will resolve. Anyhoo, thanks for checking on him. He's all good today!!
We love you! Good luck with everything. And I'd like to hear more about those professors and their comments. You hadn't told me that. I'm not surprised but its still frustrating. You can do or say anything when you are a college professor - except that God is real! We love you very much! Gotta go feed Lily. She's sitting on me while I type this.
We miss you & Love you, too. Good luck with the job hunt. Your dad just did his series on the family and raising kids and we heards so good Modin family stories.
Hey. I didn't know you were on here. :) How fun is that? Glad to hear you're doing well and stinky all at the same time. Stinks to have to find a job on your own and be out in the real world with the sometimes not so nice and all to REAL people, especially when you've been sheltered, that's how I was too, it's good though, in the end you WILL be stronger! :)
yea! you got that dress at a thrift store??? seriosuly? WOW!!! ok, yeah, i have to leave a little early as well because i have a friend coming over to visit before he leaves for cali! :( My friend amber is coming, too, so we'll have to sit near each other!!!
^^^ me too. Gabby and I would like to help. Well Drewsy too..he loves to cook but he's doing the song leading class, so this could be something Gabby could do.
I miss you! You need to give me your password to your facebook account again so I can check on you there too. (And write annoynmous comments to you from yourself. :) We love you and hope things are getting better. Mom is very worried about you!
I had some pretty frustrating professors at USF, particularly in my psychology classes. One of them was always making fun of religion and making it out to be a "crutch" to lean on...it drove me nuts.
I'm leaving Kansas City tomorrow for Atlanta and then on Friday I'm headed to Jamaica with the group led by David Tant! We'll be setting up Vacation Bible Schools, one week in Montego Bay and one week in Savanna Lamar. We'll also be doing nightly Bible studies as well as individual studies. Please pray for our safety and most of all for our success in spreading the gospel and strengthening and encouraging our brethren there. This is my first year to go and I have no idea what to expect. I'm very excited! We'll be there for two full weeks! If you want to keep up with the work we are doing or send us encouraging messages go to goodnewsjamaica.org where we will be posting updates and pictures throught the two weeks.
As soon as I get home from Jamaica I have about 2 days of down time and then I'm off to Florida where I'll be moving into an apartment with three other girls, Hannah Mathis, Cate Rice and Carly Johnson. I cannot wait!
I just got back from camp. It was another great year with amazing girls in my cabin. They were such an encouragement to me. It's really amazing to see such young girls who are so mature and spiritually minded!
Also, www.goodnewsjamaica.org is a site people can visit to follow your trip and even send you messages (depending on how much internet reception they can get down there which is questionable sometimes)
well, i'm glad you're home safely. Be safe driving down here, too!! What classes are you going to be taking at FC this year? Do you know yet? Village Oaks apartments...where are those? Are you excited to be living off campus? Are you going to have roomates? Or just live by yourself?
I had a ton of fun with you on Sunday, and I am going to miss you so much! I'm in the process of convincing my parents to fly me down to FL, it's not going too well. (: But who knows!
Wow you have been busy! Have a good year in Fla. Tell your mom & dad hello for Joe & Deb Griffin! & Please Pray for me as I go through breast cancer screening.
linds...thank you so much for your help tonight getting things organized! i really like your hair, too!!! are you coming to the potluck at her house on sunday?
Really just cowboy boots and a skirt or any boots and a skirt. Doesn't she have boots she wears with skirts? Thanks for the comment about the hair. I think that was the 3rd time I'd put her hair up that day!
So how was the game Friday night? I looked for you in the crowd on TV. Ha Ha. Who would a thunk you get to watch your favorite home school play the school your attending. I bet you were really torn. It was an exciting game and your mom said you had a good time. Too bad the Hawks aren't as good as the TIGERS this year. Ha Ha!!!!!
