I get to spend it doing nothing at home with my dad, mom, dog, and new cat who has scratched me more times than Butterball or hamsters ever have. Yeay! Space Ghost, as he's apparently called, is the newest addition to the Parham household thanks to my dad giving my mom a cat as a Christmas present (GASP). So right now Kitty (as I've deemed it...I mean Space Ghost?! No way) is chillin sleepin on my mom's lap, while she's reading. Butterball is sleeping dejected in my room (he's a little jealous, but he has had fun chasing Kitty around the house). Granted, Kitty is definitely goading Butterball. Me and him were chilling on my bed as I pet him, and the kitty comes in and jumps up on the bed beside me, rubs against my free arm, and then proceeds to walk across my bed. Keep in mind, Butterball is very protective of his areas, and the bed is definitely his. He just lets me sleep in it. Anymore kitty details, ask her. I'm sure she'd love to gloat about it :)
You can definitely add more names. Doodle's name is Snickerdoodle. We call her Doodle, Doodlebug, Bug, and Bugaboo. She answers to everything along those lines.
I'm in Georgia. Woo. It's... Exciting... The men and Aunt Janet, and Daisy Mae (The dog)are all downstairs playing with wiring andmudding and such. I'm chillin here and WAS on baby duty, but my mom and Aunt came back and I've been relieved. So now I get to do nothing for awhile in my boredom and misery. Ok, a little dramatic, but still. Whatevs. I'm off to do nothing. Yeay! have a good couple of days
80 degrees on Christmas? I mean, come on. It's SNOWING up North! Shouldn't we get SOMETHING down here? Guess not...
All well. Heading up to Georgia for two or three days... Which I'm sad because I thought it'd be longer. Guess not. *sigh* Whenever I have to opportunity to move where I want, hello northern lands.
it would be nice if it did snow only on christmas and maybe new year's too! but snow is seriously miserable when it's there for months. your momma's right! I think you should try living up north though, just for the experience of the 4 seasons :)
Well, I am living up north now, and I couldn't take it getting any colder than it gets right here...or by the same token...that it gets hotter up here also, and I don't think I could stand it getting any hotter than it does here. I hope you enjoy your trip to GA!
There is something appealing about 80 degree weather on Christmas... especially when others are in 40's and below. We were in the 40's and were longing for those Gainesville temps!!
so today in the battle for first part, she demanded first part and blatently said I wasn't playing. I said that would change. During class Mr K just said figure it out, so I let her have it because I knew that was changing. She so graciously gave me first part on the Sousa March *rolls eyes*. so after class I asked mr k what was going on with this neverending battle. He thought I had it, and I said I thought so too, but evidently she doesn't. so I told her that and she still said no and I said Mr K said so and that's the end of that.
I don't appreciate having my songs taken away from me. Granted neither does she. But all well. as some people always told me, "That's life"
Never though those sayings would ever come in handy for me. :D
The best one that I heard from my kids was Christopher writing a paper in Bangkok about what it meant to be a Lance Corporal in the USMC. Apparently, he had told the Sergeant responsible for scheduling the guard rotation that there were better ways to do it (yes, in some ways he does take after his father!). The Sergeant, not fully appreciating that Lance Corporal's suggestions, suggested writing the paper. Christopher apparently filled in with saying from his (getting amarter) parents. Things like, "Do it right the first time," "life is rough, buy a helmet," "life is not fair," "always strive to be the best," etc. The story that I heard was that the Sergeant starting quoting said parents all over Bangkok. So, as far as the USMC goes, I am famous for teaching Christopher how to tie a tie (a story for another time) and for wise sayings! Go figure.
So along with beating her out in all county, I've also beat her out for first part in a song that she loves. Ha! Some could call me vengeful... I'd rather call myself healthily enthusiastic to succeed in band... sometimes. ha
But yea. That's happening. Carrie Underwood concert Sunday night, exams next week, parents gone next weekend. It's gonna be a great week. I'm actually WORKING next week (it's a foreign concept, I know. Two weeks of absolutely no work... blah). And now I'm off to the Westwood band concert. Woot. I'll update later. Probably sometime over break. Who knows?
The best part (as a father) about her getting to play first part is that she did it the right way. She talked to her fellow horn player giving her the chance to let Margie play first chair. When told no, she went to the director and asked nicely if it would be possible to play first part on a song since she was principle chair in all-county. The director gave the other girl a chance to do the right thing, but she didn't take advantage of the opportunity, so she was forced to move down in front of everyone.
Remember the warning about sitting at the head of the table without being asked? This can be a lesson to everyone to give others an opportunity when possible to keep from having things forced upon you.
