you can buy it in a spray can. and that works pretty good for a repair job or for a small bathroom. not sure how that will work for a bigger room but for now, we're good. 3 cans of spray later (at a paltry $12.98 a pop, cough, cough) we've got texture. time to let it dry (go Cowboys!) and paint!
already read it....old news.....it is amazing the lengths people will go to to try and down play the SEC. I am starting to think that The A in MARK stands for annoying.
Anybody who is not Mr. Nearly Professional Contractor done any wall texturing?
We re-painted one of our bedrooms - it had wallpaper before. We didn't texture the walls after removing the wallpaper and I wished we had. Just doesn't look that great. So, I'm wondering just how tough is it to get a decent texture up?
Bear in mind: am an absolute rookie at texture. Never done it. Zero experience. So, if you have recently rebuilt the Taj Mahal or would feel comfortable repainting the Sistine Chapel please do not say "It's a piece of cake" and send me headlong into a home improvement project that will involve a lot of money, frustration, time, frustration and ultimately the frustration of calling a pro to redo my mess, okay? But if you're a regular Joe and know something about it give me your thoughts on it. Thanks!
Thanks to Phil, I now know how to do this. It's not terribly difficult to do, but kinda difficult to describe. I have leftover mud from our remodel, and I could show/help you with this.
Step #1, pick up Yellow Pages.
Step #2, put phone in hand.
Step #3, dial professonal painter.
Step #4, pick up check book.
Result - Marriage continues.
Kevin has done some texturing in our house. If you aren't trying to match it to something it is alot easier. I will have him talk to you about it. He has a gizmo that blows the texture on the wall that speeds things up.
i've never done the blow-on texture, but i've done the kind you do with a "spatula," for lack of a proper term. it's not hard. just depends on the look you want. pretty much make a random "x" design on your walls over and over and over and over and over.... monotonous and messy but it looks cool.
the people who said not to get the kind you mix in with paint are RIGHT ON. i did that, too, and it was miserable.
I did it years ago under my father-in-law's guidance - seemed easy. (The kind with the joint compound and a brush.) I agree with Tracey, if you don't have one wall in the room already textured that you have to match it to, then it would be much easier.
My Grandfather has done carpentry and other such things his entire life. Last year, 2007, we built a secondary house in our backyard. My grandfather and I did everything ourselves save the laying of concrete and putting on the shingles.
Wow! the Dems have to be shaking in their boots - how will they stop this lady? A hockey mom, son in the service, special needs kid, a fighter, big credentials as a mayor and governor - truly a wonderful speech. she comes across as a real American who really cares about America. the McCain Campaign was missing spark, fire and passion and Sarah Palin just jump started this election!
the irony of Hillary watching Sarah Palin become the first female veep, putting her on the way to being America's first female President, is just too much...
what a speech! "for a season a gifted speaker can inspire with his words, but for a lifetime John McCain has inspired with his deeds." just perfect!
"8:09 p.m.: Palin has just hijacked the presidential campaign. I’ve got a skeptical, Obama-loving wife and some liberal sons, and they all think she killed it."
"But the former TV sportscaster spoke in calm, TV-friendly tones reminiscent of RONALD REAGAN. Like the former GOP president, Palin warmed the crowd with quips and jokes." - apnews.myway.com
Mark, a family from Eastside is moving to Rockwall, TX. Do you know of a congregation in or around that area? [Oh, and while I like Palin as well, I was a little put off by the sarcasm and jabbing going on in the speeches last night. I think Rep. can win with character and issues. We don't need a smirking Giuliani.
She did and awesome job. I really enjoyed her speech and it would be great to have her as our VP. She's even not afraid to wear a skirt! (unlike Hilary) Her strength still shines through!
Not at all. The neoconservatives migrated into the GOP from the Democrats. They are cousin philosophies in many respects. The neocons practice much "liberalism". I prefer constitutionalism. I will not vote for McBama. I will seek a more perfect way.
my favorite moment of last night's broadcast, however, had nothing to do with politics, but rather, a big sister's love for her little brother. when the youngest daughter was looking down at that baby brother, and she kissed him, then LICKED her hand and smoothed his hair, i was torn between laughing because it was so hilarious, and tearing up at the simple beauty of that moment. the two of them could have been alone in that place, they were so unaffected by it all.
September 1 starts dove season every year - it's a much anticipated morning for hunters as it kicks off the season.
my season started a little late this year. Trinity played in a special Labor Day football extravaganza Monday. we played (and defeated, 28-12) a private school from Louisiana, John Curtis. they have won 21 state championships but they couldn't defeat the reigning 5A state champs of Texas!
Sara has a major solo in our halftime show so there was no way I could be gone hunting and miss that. she played great and then I gathered up my gear, dogs and guns to head north to the lease (up toward Wichita Falls). got there and was hunting by 4:30. it wasn't the amazing day like we had last year - the field we hunted was not planted with the same stuff and the doves were heading elsewhere to eat - but I nearly got my limit by sunset. finished with 11. one of them was a big ol' Eurasian Collared dove. if you've not seen one google it - they're cool and compared to mourning doves HUGE. both dogs worked great but Dallas really showed out. he is four and he has matured. on kind of a sad note, it's clear Ranger is just getting older. Dallas got 99% of the birds and Ranger didn't even fight him for them. he's slowing down considerable, and that is hard for me to see even as I'm thrilled to see Dallas really come on.
hunted again this morning. really slow. a couple of good rushes but mostly a trickle of birds. finished with 9 when we quit at 9:15. I thought if I could get one more good shot I'd just go home on a good note and lo and behold if a pair didn't zoom by my Mojo dove. got'em both to finish with a double. that was a sweet ending to a good start to the season.
Hello, i've got a co-worker who lives in Arlington, tx. She has expressed interest in returning to a congregation, but she's really scared to. Her family life is very weird. Anyway, I was indirectly pointed in your direction to see if you could be of service. I was just wondering if I could get some contact information to someone in the area that's a christain and possibly an address of a faithful church I could point her to. Thanks.
^^^^ uh, not exactly. those are not considered lawful means of taking doves. doves are migratory birds and are subject to federal game laws. go here for more info http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/annual/hu nt/migratory/
Well first of all.....I would like to thank you for all of the Alabama Bashing comments. As you can read in my blog, I am predicting Alabama to lose on Saturday, and I have openly bashed Saban on my blog before. Anyway, I say all of that to point out that I can objectively look at my program, and see if for what it really is. I wasn't saying that Ohio St was a bad team, just that they are once again over-rated. If I were a sports writer, there is no way I would ever rank them that high after the past few years, and their annual Whipping in game against a legit team. Name me one legit team besides USC on their schedule?
I'm sure Ohio St will finish the season with 1 maybe 2 losses, but so WHAT?!?!?!?!? If they are just going to be target practice for another deserving National Championship team then who cares if they win every game by 30 points. They have proven that outside of the big 10, they can't really do anything......And, I usually don't make predictions like this, but I will be shocked if OHIO St beats USC in a few weeks. USC will give them a big serving of seconds from last years Championship game.
"you write much about what the Bucks did and didn't do last year ... but as informed college fans know the polls are based on what teams are expected to do THIS YEAR. otherwise LSU would be ranked number 1, wouldn't they?"........I am making the point that Ohio State is Overrated, and that their performance this year will not merit a #1, #2, or #3 ranking, like they currently have. Also, I know that Alabama stunk last year and this year. I agree with your point.....they lost to ULM (very embarrassing), and quite frankly why should they be ranked this year? I agree with that too. Alabama has a long way to go.
hey mark! got the shirt today, it looks GREAT! i sent a few emails, but i wasn't forsure about which email accounts to send it too, so i sent them to one of them, haha.
To brighten your Labor Day, a quote from Greg Doyel reporting on cbsportsline.com today, "It's way too early to say this, but such is my genius. I see stuff way ahead of schedule, and then I say it. And I'm saying this right now, before the calendar even hits September: This is the best SEC in the history of the SEC, which means this is the best conference in the history of college football."
