Much to be thankful for. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Becca got to be here and we didn't have to travel this year since Mark's parents have moved here. Next year, we will go to my parents'. How was your Thanksgiving? What was the best thing you had for dinner and the best dessert? Julie made a broccoli casserole that I really liked! AND since it was broccoli, not a lot of other people ate it, so I got a lot! Dessert is harder to decide. Becca made an oreo type cake = it was really good and there was chocolate pie...
Wonderful! My favorite was a chicken artichoke cassarole that my husband and Luke would have never helped me eat. In fact, my husband doesn't even like for me to say 'artichoke'! :^) The best dessert was my sister-in-law's Derby pie.
Sounds good! (Well, not the specific broccoli part, but the general goodness.) I just have meat so that I have something to pour Todie's gravy on top of. :) I don't like pies at all, but there were some really good chocolate chip cookies.
I always have several helpings of my mom's Christmas salad (it is similar to a three bean salad) and my DH made three pies - all were good but the pecan pie was fantastic and the first one to disappear :)
We made it all the way to Area playoffs and then lost in 5 games. It was a extra disappointment because the ref had called a ball out and had declared that they had won the match but then there was a question on the call and they lost the next two points and the match. Heartbreaker.
We did have a great Thanksgiving with Susan home from college and her fiance Joe here from Memphis.
My dad is some better. I am not sure if you know he fell and fractured a verterbrae in his back. He still has not had surgery on the aneurysm. That will need to be taken care of before too long. He is home now and has a visiting nurse and physical therapist that come to the house. He is staying by himself, but my brother and sister-in-law check on him daily and get his meals for him. They also help him get in bed in the evening. So he is some better since his fall but still has a ways to go.
don't worry, it wasn't you that got her hopes up, it was the winter camp paperwork that came addressed to her that got her hopes up! She understands though so it's ok. Danielle will be there though. She can't wait!
We had a really great week. Becca came home last week and stayed till Sunday afternoon. They had Thursday and Friday off of school. She got to go to the fair with Truth and Pate and Mark. She really enjoyed that. She got to see some friends, go to the high school football game, marching contest, etc, etc. It was great to have her home for a little while.
Then mom and dad came on Monday till Wednesday. Sara had a choir concert on Monday night and she had a solo and did a really great job! Tuesday night, they had marching band UIL and they received a Division I! YEAH!!! They perform again on Saturday at 11:20 a.m. for the next round.
I was so surprised to see Becca here! I know she enjoyed her break, but at the same time, was excited to get back and see her friends! We had a good week and are looking forward to a fun and busy weekend! :)
In SC for four days without the kids and Harold, to celebrate my mothers 70th birthday. So I am homesick but having fun!!! School is out next week so even more to celebrate!! Love you guys hugs from Beaumont!!!
We are, but we also try to keep him humble. Before it came out I sent him a quote that said, "If you make a mistake, learn from it. If you do something brilliant, get over it!" I've been watching my mailbox since Tuesday, but our copy still hasn't come. Maybe tomorrow.
Thanks for all the comments! I'm feeling better. Only a lingering cough right now and some plugged up ears. Sounds like all the kids at FC had a great day with move-in day! What fun! The new dorm looks awesome too! How exciting! It'll be neat to see it all at Lectures.
Pray for my friend Dorothy (Dorothy129) that is losing her job and desperately needs another one.
You know you don't feel good when you are GLAD to put mentholatum under your nose and breathe it in! Sara and I have colds. It's been a while since I've had one. She was wearing a coat in band practice yesterday afternoon when it was in the 80s! I hope yesterday was her worst day! I really hate the congestion. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
I have one word - AIRBORNE. It is an amazing over the counter cure. Now it works best when you just feel the cold starting to come on, but I have even found it effective after you get the cold. If I can start taking it when I first start to get a tickle in my throat and continue taking it until any little evidence of a possible cold is gone - I Do Not Get A Cold! It is amazing stuff. All natural remedy. BTW - Grapefruit and Orange are my family's favorite flavors. We recommend staying away from Lemon-Lime.
Well, the family from Beaumont is heading home tomorrow. School is due to start up there on Thursday. It was great to be with them and get to know them. I'm feeling very blessed that I don't have to go home to a house that I know will be a mess from a hurricane. (Mine's just a mess anyway - but it's from trying to paint a couple of rooms at the same time as football season!) I think we'll see them again and I hope so. Let's all count our blessings and help others with them.
I've been thinking about that myself. Even my friends down there have it so much better than some of their loved ones...they too feel blessed. Have a good time this weekend.
Please email me (email address on my home page) a dedication, thought or scripture that you would like put on the dedication page of the cookbook. We are also encluding camp directors etc. Thanks.
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! We are safe and back in beaumont. And for all you readers, we did not suffer at all because of all the love we experienced from the Irving brethren!!! Such love wow!!! Thanks again for everything. I know we have made life long friends. I knew Mark was great, but now I know the woman that helped to get him there!!! (((hugs)))
