Brother Todd Cox said some things inspire him. What a good point of reference. I'm going to try that here:
My friends Ken and Judy Leach. They are in the Lord's Army. Ken is the preacher at Monte Vista church of Christ in Phx, AZ. They are my second parents. I love them. Judy had surgery last Tues. and is awaiting test results. Ken is having hip surgery today.
All the expectant parents at CP! Congratulations! Good grief, Charlie Brown, we'll need a bigger nursery!(j/k) It's the coolest thing to see so much growth and know these children will be raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
We have found some land just outside of Liberty Hill; we hope to buy there and build a home. It will be wonderful to be closer to CP and the church family there.
My husband and family. I worked last Friday (7a-7p) and my husband cleaned the entire house, including mopping the floor. Aedan helped. They're cool, huh?
Now I have a Christmas tree to dress and I've been volunteered to make cookies for the 5th grade party, which is tomorrow. Y'all be good!
All great points. Glad ya'll found some land close by! Looks like your husband is setting the bar high...I need to get busy before my wife reads this j/k
I love your list of inspirations!! I agree especially with your comment about all of the expectant parents. I get so excited when I see all the little ones at church. We've got some pretty amazing pregnant women at CP. I'm so glad that you guys are moving to Liberty Hill. Dan and I are still talking about having you over for lunch. Once I can clear off the table from my thesis materials:)
^^^you crack me up Melissa. Thanks for the sweet comments it meant a lot!! We went to the Elgin tree farm last thursday and I got a tree...is the tree decorated? nope...does it have lights on it? nope....but it is up and standing and I feel I achieved something. Rett did put up all our outside lights around 10pm saturday night...he has been working so much that was the only time for him to do it...what a great dad. Speaking of..how about your husband? That is such a great treat to come home to a clean house and you didn't have to clean it!! Sounds like a early Christmas present to me. I don't feel too bad today so I am going to attemp to be productive. That's great about you guys finding some land outside Liberty Hill. Rett and I have been looking for land to buy and build on we just haven't found anything that works for us. Can't wait for you guys to move closer!!!
I am loving the iron gym... I use it 4-5 days a week, and it can be used for several different types of pull-ups. Five different types that I have tried so far. So far, there has not been any damage to my door. The only problem that I have read with some people is that it didn't fit their door-frame - you can check that out here at the amazon reviews: iron gym reviews
Isn't that so sweet he cleaned the whole house!! Are y'all gonna make an offer on the land? That would be awesome. Yes! A Christmas Story is so awesome...I laugh histerically every time.
No, I'm really sorry I dont remember you off the top of my head I'm sure if I see you I would remember. :/ But thanks for the help! I actually was thinking about going into anesthetics and I really wanted to study abroad in England and attend London's Royal College of Anesthetics, but now I have no idea.
I just wanted to thank everyone who has offered a prayer on Eric's behalf. He is experiencing some upheaval in his life right now and I can't help but think it is directly related to those prayers. Mostly it is the kind of upheaval that tells you the way you are going about life is not working out so a change is in order. Opportunity is knocking.
Can anyone give me names and addresses of faithful congregations in the Tampa/Clearwater area? I can offer the information. He will have to act.
The study we just completed on the book of James was so interesting; there is alot to study there. I know many fervent prayers are being lifted up in an effort to help Eric; I have been humbled by so many people's encouragement and support. Thank you and God bless you all.
The Bensons are not on here, but Mike was an elder in Florida so they would know people/congregations. I hope and pray that Eric feels and obeys the nudge in God's direction.
I went to FC and attended several churches in the area. The great thing is there are a ton of churches in that area. My first year I was a member at Valrico, and the second was Henderson - both are great places. Here is a map with some of the churches (it does not list them all by any means) and is good to use as a reference:
For some reason, it wouldn't post the map specific to the Tampa area, so just click on Florida, south florida, Tampa area. Mr. Benson I'm sure would be a great person to talk to, as he worshipped with University Church of Christ to my knowledge (which is on the map too). Hope this helps some...
Sarah has gone and come home again and she really liked it there. I just pray that she will want to make every effort to help us help her to stay financially.
While I am a bit frustrated by the Mountaineers performance this year, I am not/ NEVER will be so desperate to be a gator fan. Just kidding.... and jealous at the same time of ya'lls success. The Gators are definitely a good team this year. I think that loss to Mississippi sparked them, because they have been tearing it up since.
Heather Benson is also very familiar with that area and I'm sure would be more than willing to offer some congregations. I will continue to keep Eric in our prayers. I always enjoy talking to you, you are such a sweet person.
When writing it I wanted it to be in all caps and font 25 and bright colors but I had to get my emotions under control. This time around took about 2 years (we have had trouble in the past) and migrain making meds. Thanks for that sweet note...it has been a long journey with many tears shed....now tears of joy. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that's not keeping up with the Jones'. Do you guys get a new tree?
I'm glad to hear this good news. I hope that things keep looking upward with Eric. I also wanted to let you know that you can get the Irongym from Bed, Bath & Beyond & use a $10 coupon. I didn't see any better deals on it than that. I love bargains! ;)
I love the real trees so I think we are going to head down to Elgin this year. Rett grew up with fake trees but I was able to sway him. I just love the smell and there is nothing better than cleaning up all the needles after you take it outside ;).
I tried the mustard on the deer steak, and it worked great! I cooked it just like I cook chicken fried steak. It was sooo tender and tasted better than beef! It had no wild taste at all. Thanks for the tip!
Hey I just read Kim's blog about the pumpkin patch in Elgin. There are actually two Christmas tree farms out here that do pumpkin patch activities. One is off Monkey Road and the other is just east of town off Hwy 290. It is about 45 minutes to Elgin from the church building if you come on the toll road. (That's depending on time of day, 290 can get stacked up through Manor in the evening/weekdays.) If you come from Round Rock (79)thru Taylor on Hwy 95 it's about 30 minutes to the patch of your choice (fr. Taylor.) Just FYI :) ME
Also, a heart felt thank you to everyone who has responded to my prayer request for Eric. I know God hears us and will be there for Eric. Thank you.
Hi! I'm a little behind in keeping up with every thing on pleo, but I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Dianna Griffith and I also attend Cedar Park. I'm one of the daughter-in-laws of Jimmy & Connie and my brother is the self described "Whataburger Wednesday" guy. :) Read about your son and he's in our prayers also. We'll have to keep that in mind about the pumpkin patches out y'alls way. I never knew there were two!
I have no idea which one we went to (if I don't drive I don't pay attention). It was great and really got Rett and I talking about wanting to move out somewhere "in the country" or at least somewhere with that "home-town" feeling. Do you live/lived in Elgin? The kids are ready to go back. I'm so glad you guys are at Cedar Park!!!
No..no plans to come to Texas, I was mistaken, I assumed you lived in the Tri-county area (Trenton/Chiefland) cuz you were at camp. How did you end up at NFBC?
It's not the best timing for us to buy some land but we do want to go that route some day! We have really great schools around here so it is hard to think about moving. I love that you're a nurse I really think that's what I should have studied. I ended up with double major of business and psychology...not sure how I'm using that now.
Hey MaryEllen, karri sample here from Cedar Park, I am so very bad about getting over to the other side of the building to say Hello, we are the family with 3 young kids 1 girl 2 boys. My husband Doug just taught your sons bible class. We need to have y'all over I promise we will soon. We will also pray for Eric, ny heart really goes out too a parent who's child is unfaithful. I can't and don't want to imagine the heartache.
Thanks, Pi...I went to work sorta sad this morning, listening to the morning news and thinking about what may be in store for our nation, and then had to refocus and realize that this is not my home. My treasure is laid up some where else.
Hope everyone is feeling better! We're fighting a cold over here too. It started with me while we were visiting his parents last week. Craig came home early yesterday & had a fever. He went to work today, so hopefully he's getting better. Yeah, we actually got the sugar coma at Grandma's; we had dessert after every meal...so no sugar for me this week. Thank you, we had so much fun dressing him up. :)
Hi everyone, hope you are all well and having a great start to the week. So far, so good here in Elgin. I have a favor I would like to ask of y'all - and I will be forever more grateful - Doug and I have a 22 year old son who lives in the Tampa, Florida area. He was brought up going to church and has been baptized into the Lord's body. He is not living a faithful life right now, which worries me. He is attending an aviation mechanic school, which is a wonderful thing, as flight has always fascinated him and he is a tremendously intelligent young man. Please add him to your prayer list, that the Lord gives him time to see the error in his life and return to His body. Eric is facing some tough decisions now, which are tougher because he is in the world and away from the Lord. I know the power of prayer and the power of love for one another. I pray that Eric's heart is still soft enough to let that seed again take root and grow in his life while he is young, unmarried and without children. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this and petition our Father in Eric's behalf. ME
hi, I am (obviously as my name states) Chris Windham and I also attend at Cedar Park. I grew up going to the Cedar Park church, then went to school at Tarleton State. I graduated in May, spent the summer doing an internship in Mexico, and now I'm back in Cedar Park again, working :)
I meant to mention it the first time - we will definitely be praying for your son. We enjoyed our time with ya'll as well. Gators... it's a good thing there there aren't any gators up in the Mountaineers neck of the woods, otherwise they would be having them some gator for dinner.
Well thank you... I can't tell you how much that means to me! It truly is a tremendous blessing to have such a wonderful Christian family. Praise God! Does Eric have an e-mail address, or mailing address through which I would be able to get in contact with him? I would love to send some encouraging words, and get to know him if that is alright with you. He is in my prayers!
Hey! I'm glad you are doing well! Thanks for the message, we look forward to camp too...that was camp I said not "bugs" :) I hope you are doing well and we will keep Eric in our prayers.
Hey Pi! Great to see you on here. It is nice to keep in touch. We will certainly be keeping Eric in our prayers. Where exactly is he at? We are in Lakeland, so I was wondering how close we are to him. Looking forward to talking to you on here! :)
I realized after I left all that info about myself up there that I figured out who exactly you are and that we've met already :) I'm the Whataburger Wednesday guy! :)
PIE!!!!!! Hey there, this is Bronwyn from camp. Do you remember me? I will most definitely pray for Eric. A similar situation happened with my sister, but my family and friends and I prayed for her a lot and now she has chosen the right path and I am thrilled. I will pray that God allows Eric time to get back on the straight and narrow!!! What a great idea to bring your prayer request to all of your brothers and sisters on PLEO! Please keep us updated! :)
Hello!! My name is Crystal! Welcome to Cedar Park. I hope to meet you Wednesday. I will definitely keep your son in my prayers. My sister is going through the same thing. Welcome!
Well, I had to work today, so I was not able to attend the last night of our gospel meeting. WHAT A DRAG! I have so enjoyed the lessons from Bro. David Banning. I have also had the opportunity to put more names with faces at Cedar Park. Repetition is a wonderful teacher!! Thanks to Jacob for letting me hold him . . . and to his lovely mommy too! And to everyone that was able to attend one or more of the services, I hope you found the lessons as informative and applicable to daily life as I did. Y'all have a blessed weekend.
I had a good friend in college named Mary Ellen, and we all called her "Mel". Sometimes I get close to blurting, "Mel!" when I see you because I can already tell we are going to be good friends! Sorry work ran late for you tonight. His last night was just as good as every night has been!
Hi! This is Melissa Harbin from CP. I chatted with you husband last week and I met your son a few weeks ago. I haven't formally introduced myself to you yet, but soon:) Your husband is a hoot; we'll have to have you guys over soon!
Hi! This is Kimberly Griffith from CP (Rett's wife). We spoke a few weeks ago. I agree, the lessons were so great and encouraging. Glad to have you on pleo.
