Can't believe it! 01-05-09 11:36pm EST
I can't believe it...I turned 50 yesterday! WOW! Where has the time gone? I mean I know I am a grandma and 'Punkie' and that I have grown kids but come on! Well in any event it was a nice one. My kids and family did a surprize lunch at my house with the help of my sweet husband - he got me out of the way! Chad couldn't be here but he supplied the recipe for the yummy shrimp Siobhan cooked. And Josh was part of the trickery as well calling to confirm dinner, etc. Chad is starting his externship at St. Johns Island resort in Vero Beach for his last part of chef school. I had a superb lunch and a truly big surprize when I got home. I even had a graveyard cake with a headstone on it...too funny! They were all pretty sneeky, making me think we were going to dinner that evening and all. Then another celebration today with my staff...flowers and cake from the gang 'my kids' as they call themselves. And I got cards and presents from some people from church on Sunday...so it was a 3 day 50th birthday celebration...Can't ask for more than that! I am truly blessed beyond measure! Have an awesome day!
hannahjoyes we are stating woth Papa and Grammie. :) See you soon :)

Moving is almost done...almost...sigh...almost 10-05-08 03:38pm EST
OK, so I haven't posted in a while because there are not enough hours in the day to do 1/3 of what I want, need, should, do. The last 2 weeks have been consumed with work, church, PAINTING, more PAINTING, and lastly helping with MOVING Siobhan and Chico and the grand kids to their first home(YEAH)...and...UGH!!!!!! I am tired and sore and oh, did I mention tired? The house needed painting inside for sure because the people who owned it before were in love with prison gray in all shades. So we tackled the upstairs first because new carpet was being put in and the downstairs has wood floors. So that was week 1, then we tackled the downstiars which has pyramid shaped really high and oddly angled ceilings. There were about 10 people who put paint brush and roller to the wall at some point in the process so it was a group effort and yet...there is still one wall that still needs touch up from a small person we can perhaps bungee cord from the ceiling to get in these truly impossible places to paint. It did not help that my daughter picked different colors for ceiling and wall which has created the dilemma of trying to get straight edges painted in impossible places in different colors. Anyway...we had to get them moved this weekend with is 95% done. And their rooms are at least able to be walked thru and slept in, although the boxes seem to multiply like gremlins everytime you look around. We are excited for them. Even if we had to battle the rain, couches threatening to leap out of the truck, forgotten dollies and the literal blood (mostly from clumsy me), sweat(from everyone) and tears (mostly from tired babies). All in all I would call it successful, this week will be spent assisting them with the last of the moving items, cleaning out and up the old hourse and turning in keys! I can only pray that somehow there are more hours in the days, more energy my bones, and that the house will be a nothing but a blessing...

P.S. In the middle of this I did get to see my long time friends and their kiddos from Oregon on their trip out here and spend a little time catching up...Miss all ya'll Pauls!
butterflyhomerachelWe need to see pics of the house! Tell Siobhan. :) You are a good Mom and Punkie for helping them move.

Wow - it's been a while 04-28-08 10:21pm EST
I didn't realize how long since I've updated my entry..I have been so very busy with my new job...yep-another new job. The hospital I work for hounded me to take the position so I have now been named the Director of Patient Financial Services. I am digging in and working hard and hopefully will do well in that spot. Ironically I was in the same office, doing pretty much the same thing with a different title and much lower pay 15 years ago...life truly goes in circles sometimes.

Spent a good weekend with the family. We did a fishing derby on Sat. with Kai, he and Papa caught 3 rainbow trout, the biggest was 1.5 lbs. it was fun. Then the boys both became a little feverish with colds and stuff so we cooked at my house and just relaxed a little. It was nice.

Chad (Charlie) is doing great in Chef school..liking it really well. I can't wait til he cooks for us when we finally get to spent some time together.

Seems like we have been so busy lately. I got some baseball tickets given to me from a vendor for the Angels game in Anaheim, diamond box seats - fantastic! Me and Papa and two of the grandsons (Tyler and Kai) really had a great time in the $100.00 a piece seats...wow! We are going to the Lake Elsinore Storm game on Friday night because it is Dr. Seuss night. Saturday we are doing the Relay for Life Cancer walk, and Sunday we are having a going away pot luck for some people from church that are relocating to Hawaii for the next tour of duty in the Marines...so by Monday I ought to be truly tired and not even ready for a new work week! HA HA...

Anyway - that's it for now...off to spend time with my husband...
tayloranneI love anything bright.Hannah and one of my friends like to tease me cause of the bright clothing I wear.Ha!Thank you!

Back from vacation, Back to work, and Back being Healthy! 03-23-08 05:48pm EST
Life is good...I am blessed...

We are back from our week vacation. It was great. We saw beautiful views, some snow, and elk, some animal bones, spent lazy days doing nothing much but checking out land to purchase someday and it was great. A non-tourist time of year, had the hotel pretty much to ourselves. We went exploring and ran into some people from Cottonwood that knew my husbands family many moons ago. We had dinner at the Carter's and saw where my father in law had signed their guest 'tablecloth' back in 1995...it was very special to see his handwriting from 13 years ago and then it hit how much I miss him as in a couple of weeks he will be gone a year...These folks knew my husband when he was a little boy so it was fun to hear stories from long ago.

Had a great Easter...yesterday we took Kai to hunt easter eggs at a local park that put on an event. Then we played at the park...(note to self: almost 50 year old bones do not go down a slide well anymore)...even though I've been torturing my self and being tortued at the gym. Somehow slides are not meant for us 'oldies' but Kai insisted Punkie go down with him, so you know...there is nothing a good Punkie can't do! RIGHT? Speaking of the gym, I spent most of the week not able to either move my legs and/or bend down, or my arms due to a personal trainer that is into elder abuse...or maybe just into abusing Brad and Mayda...today I almost have full range of motion back..just in time to meet with her (all 75 lbs of her) again on Tuesday.

Then we picked up my 11 year old grandson and we dyed eggs, and played in the back yard for a long time. Ronin was laughing so hard at nothing really at my house Siobhan had to get it on video...he is just 3 months and a blast. Can't wait til he can join in the craziness. We played and laughed and had a great day...And of course, spent most of the day trying not to be tempted by the candy and bunny cake Siobhan made (well - maybe I'll just call it my cheat day!) so I don't "find" the 10 pounds I lost! Of course just looking at the bunny cake I could feel the calories jumping off the plate and packing themselves around my thighs! UGH! Why wasn't I born skinny instead of nutty?

Anyway, it was a blessed day of fun and family and I hope you all had the same.

Gotta go, cookies in the oven (not for us thankfully - for my husbands crewman whose last day at work is tomorrow as he's off to be a policeman...whew, I can kick the evil calories out the door in the morning and not have them hiding to attack me when I get home!)

Here's to a great week of spring flowers and God's blessings!

cdillman23Glad you had a good trip. Sorry about the body pains. No pain, no gain?

As for cookies, I hope that you snacked on some. No fun baking and not getting to sample. ;)
hannahjoSounds like you have so much fun with those cute grandkids!!! Glad you had a good Easter!! ♥
tayloranneThank you so much!!!

SICK of being sick! 03-08-08 05:36pm EST
So I am getting over the flu for the SECOND time, so I am sick of being sick. I had the flu, then I was "well for about a week, then I got the flu again! And my husband has the same thing happen to him, so we are really both sick of being sick!!!!!

And thankful for being better. The second time was worse than the first...UGH! Anyway, I am cleaning up my house and disinfecting it from all bad cooties that might be lingering and airing it out and trying to scare all evil bad bugs away that are trying to put me back in that dreded bed that I am tired of seeing!

On a better note. I am on vacation for a week. Brad and I are going to Williams, Arizona on Monday. We were going to leave today but decided to rest up a day or two more and make sure we are all better before we hit the road. We are going to be scouting around for some property to buy to maybe buildoon for when we retired...a weird word for me to be using as I can't imagine actually being retired and not working for a living...but one day maybe, Lord willing. In preparation for our trip we have been saving our change everyday for about a year and out pickle jar runneth over so we took it down to 'cash out' and drew a little crowd because people were trying to figure out how much we had in the big pickle jar. Well Brad and I guess wrong. He guessed $200, I guessed $275, but we were quite pleasantly surprised when the total came in at $398!!! Brad has always been a change saver, and he talked me into it and now I'm glad, it's like 'found money'! Maybe that will pay for the gas !UGH!! which is way to high now...

Anyway, I gotta go, I'm gonna cook dinner for Siobhan and Chico and my husband and the cutest grandbabies in the world! The "kids" are at the wild animal park for the day and we live on their way home so we're gonna have dinner together. Cornish game hens, rice pilaf, fresh green beans, etc. etc. Hope it comes out good anyway...til then, many blessings and much good health!
hannahjoJordan loves saving change and is always SO excited when it turns to be out way more than he expected!! Have fun on your trip!!! Miss you!
cdillman23Hope you are staying well!!
