Thanks for participating!! 09-14-08 09:04pm EST
Hey all--

A big thank you to everyone who submitted recipes. We've reached our goal!! I'll let you know when we start selling them.

Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

flowerpowerSo good to hear from you! I remember BJ! Well, Rex and I haven't been up to much. No kids yet. I'm working at Community Hospitals of Indianapolis, for their billing dept. We live on the westside of Indy, in Plainfield, where I grew up. So we are not far from all the family. Rex works for Markey's Rental and Staging, an audio visual company, and he is a director over 4 properties downtown Indy. We attend Mooresville church of Christ, so if you are ever in the area, let us know and we will get together!
flowerpowerBTW, I would LOVE to go on a cruise! What a fun job that would be. How do you like it?
green_gourmetAbsolutely! Tara has Fri. off and I asked Kim if that day would work for her too. I'll let you know if it is on for then...Is that a possibility for you? If not, we can do it again another day too!
green_gourmetOh, and I'm thinkin 10ish. I have a meeting early in the morning, so I need time to get back and set up before we get started.
sutherngirlYES, totally! Amanda called to say they were on their way to pick up the ring. Hope they got around to sizing it today or she will be disappointed.
We plan a trip to the mountains during her fall break to find their wedding location. Maybe they will tell you all the details tonight.
lydiasmotherTY We catch her off guard and those seems to be the best pics.
sutherngirlSo did A & A make it over? I'm still waiting for pictures of the ring!
green_gourmet10:00 at Kim Harbaugh's(more room!). I'll write you later about what to bring...still deciding on some things!
ex_patPlease email me a dedication, thought or scripture that you would like put on the dedication page of the cookbook. We are also encluding camp directors etc. Thanks.
flowerpowerI don't know Tim very well, and YES, it is a small world. Have you ever randomly chosen a name off of someone's friend list, and keep doing that? Somehow you end up getting to find someone you know. It's like everyone knows someone you know. I love it!! :)
green_gourmetWell, let's see...15 min. or so of prep. 1st rise: about 45 min. Then it takes 15 min. or so to shape the loaves. 45 minutes for the second rise and 30 minutes of baking time. So, aprx. 2 1/2 hours total.
green_gourmetWe could start a little earlier if you need to. I could probably swing 9:30. As for the baby, we won't all be handling dough at the same time, so you can pass her off to someone else when it is your turn if you want to. I'll have to do that myself. Aaron is still nursing frequently enough that I have to have him with me. But, it's up to you. I'm happy to do it again another time if you feel like it won't work out for you Friday.
green_gourmetSorry it's taken me so long to tell you all what to bring! We sorta set this up at the last minute and it takes a while to plan out exactly how something like this should go and what, exactly, we will need. I have a few distractions too!!! Let me know about Fri. If you are still planning to come I'll be sure and give you your list late tonight or early tomorrow. It will be simple. Just one or two things. I'll have one person bring some olive oil, another bring some honey, etc.
green_gourmetOh, and, do you have your own loaf pan?
kimberlyharbaughso, your kids go by k1 and k2, is that like thing 1 and thing 2? ;)
green_gourmetO.k. you bring the honey- a 24 to 32 oz jar(whichever you get a better deal on) and your loaf pan. Also, if you would like to, bring a brown bag lunch.
green_gourmetOh and I do need to give a warning. We are on Lilly watch this morning. She was acting really weird last night...really fussy and she wouldn't eat dinner(which is NOT like Lilly). I stayed home with her and put her to bed at 7:30. She is STILL sleeping and it is 9:30 now(also weird for Lilly). The last time she did this she woke up with a high fever- ear infection. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I may have to cancel at the last minute if she is sick. Ahhh life with kids. Hopefully she is just really tired! [x]
green_gourmetLilly just woke up and appears to be totally fine! She must have been REALLY tired:) She has lost out on some sleep lately! We're on!
green_gourmetBe thinking about what you would like to make...onion herb, cinnamon raisin, reg. whole wheat(sandwich style), honey wheat, or rolls. Let me know when you decide. Your choices will determine what I bring:)
green_gourmet^all of the above are whole wheat:)
green_gourmetI think everyone is still planning on 10:00. If you need it to be a little earlier to fit it in your schedule, I can start yours before that(I was planning on getting to Kim's a little earlier anyway.). Just let me know:)
green_gourmetOh, and everyone is going home with their own loaf, so it's totally up to you! The onion and raisin versions are just variations of plain dough. We will be making the plain mixture and then we can bake them like that or add other things to alter the taste...So, just pick your fav.!
ticketsi don't remember if i ever submitted one or not! WHERE IS MY HEAD!?
elizabethkThanks! :)

Okay people... 09-07-08 08:54pm EST
First of all--thank you to all who have submitted recipes.

Second, those who have not--please go get your recipe box or binder right now. Now pick out up to three recipes and submit them now, while you're thinking about it. It's for a good cause--most of you love FC, and the deadline is coming up. Then, when you're done, ask your moms, sisters, cousins, and mailman for a copy of their favorite recipes and submit them for them. Thanks for your help.

Have a great week!!
nthnswmnCan I submit more recipes under an assumed name? :-)
nthnswmnoops...I just checked and I still have one more to submit anyway. I'll do it right now...
scbrewerI've been trying to get a family recipe book together for about 3 years now and I have no recipes. None.
ex_patSheena is printing off flyers and passing them out today at school. I sent a note to one of the camp directors and asked him to send it to his groups. Maybe well get it together.
caligirlI have been married for over a year now.
sutherngirlWe have a pretty well-rounded book so far. Of course there are usually more desserts and casseroles, etc.
Apptizers/Beverages 17, Soups/Salads 18, Vegtables and side dishes 13, main dishes 35, breads/rolls 13, desserts 43, candy/cookies 15, this and that 10
scubasteveDo you want a recipe that you could put under the heading "Bachelor"??
scubasteveFor instance "...now that you have the Ramen Noodles fully cooked, it's time to add the hotdogs that we filleted in step #2..."
wafflemouse^How, exactly, do you fillet a hotdog?
scubasteve^Very carefully?
2thehiltokay.... i finally put in my recipes... I don't know who proofs but maybe put in "class of 1993" for me. I saw that other people had that, but I had already submitted mine.
sutherngirlI think we should just let anyone add recipes until the end of the month. Don't think it matters about how many as long as we hit 200 and 90 contributors...can't forget the 90 contributors for the guarantee, I'll add the class info.
chemo_brainyou sound so mean and demanding...
scubasteveMom, Grandma, Aunt Patti & Megan are all going to email recepies to me tomorrow for you.
sutherngirlWhat about Connie Ashley's recipes? Do you have them or is there someone we should ask?
I don't know her but know some were talking about wanting them in the book. We can open typensave to unlimited and add them.
sutherngirlFor personal pages, just include a hard copy of the information along with your order form. Got this today from Morris.
flowerpowerHi Becci! You are right! I'm the same Sarah(Dickey) you remembered! How are you? What have you been up to? Your girls are beautiful! Who did you marry?
sutherngirlWe're over 200! I've set the recipes to unlimited now.

My girl started preschool today!! She loved it, thankfully. I wasn't quite sure how'd she do. Was I sad-nope. Very excited for her-she'll love it. Were you all sad when your kids started preschool?

Working on my travel business lately. I've decided to specialize in cruises and destination weddings (apparently the new thing). Lots to learn and hopefully experience. 8)

PS--Don't forget to email recipes!!!!!!!! We need A LOT more. See below for details, but if you want, just email 3 recipes to recipesFC@yahoo.com. Thanks!
sarahmarcelleMmm...one thing was tortilla chips. Someone made home made tortilla chips and they were SO much worse than Tostitos. Same for cheese dip and such too.

One thing--I made beef enchildas. If you had not seen the food, just the information, you would have thought the frozen enchiladas were awesome. THEY WERE NOT! They tasted SO gross, I felt bad that the people in the class had to sample them! My enchiladas had a few more calories (not much) but were way higher in sodium! I didn't believe that my home made item had more sodium than a prepackaged one! The canned enchilada sauce is what made it that way. I found a recipe for home made enchilada sauce and it's much better for you now.
wafflemouseWow, you started already!?! We don't start until Oct 1st.
be_with_me_lordI home schooled ;) But, when the little boy I nannied started, it was a little sad to see him so grown up.
sutherngirlAW, so happy for K 1. Yes that was sweet of Alan and Amanda. Probably trying to make up for making her cry Sunday. :) I'm still sad to see my kids leave!
DESTINATION WEDDINGS!!!!!! Not a minute to soon for you to start. Let's talk!
wafflemouseOhhhhhh, that makes sense. I thought you were talking about Wharton.
missysnappGlad she enjoyed herself. Now you can have some one-on-one time with Kasey. How do you do a travel business when so many people use Travelocity or Orbitz type sites? How does that work?
shrimpyhey becci! thanks for that I really appreciate it. it's a blast but it is weird being across the country.

California was absolutely wonderful. I loved being with family, tried to savor the perfect weather, and take in all the mountains and waves, etc. We went to the beach and saw 2 seals and 2 dolphins--how awesome is that? We buried K1 in the sand up to her neck, and she also wanted to try boogie boarding. We ate mexican...and many other foods that would make me sound like a pig if I listed. It was so fun watching K1 with her cousins-- having big-girl sleepovers and whatnot. Out in California, it is RARE to have sweet tea. K1 had a sip of someone's unsweet tea, and she turned to me and said, "Mom, my water tastes better than that!"

The cousins loved holding K2 and K2 was a good sport about being passed from kid to kid. We took some family pictures, spent time all together, played games, and laughed. We got to see aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins. I was pretty much sad to come back. But now I'm getting back in the groove and will try to enjoy this nice, cool summer. :)

sutherngirlLooks like we will go with Morris Publishing.
abigailthanks Becci! HOw r you and the fam doing?
ex_patWould you co-chair to get this cookbook thing going? Please talk to sutherngirl. Thanks a bunch.
originalHey! Thanks for calling yesterday. I finally came to the library to get on the internet. Charles is job hunting on the web and I'm just playing around! Once again, thanks for calling to check on me. Love you.
sjbJim Romkey is the director. Marianne Moody and Anthony Spriggs are the co-directors. I've known all three of them for years. Named one of my sons after Anthony. =-)
pettymamaIf she's anything like Mark you'll be happy. He was fabulous!!
pettymamaLike your new picture!!
pettymamaDon't you love that you can dress them alike :)
wafflemouseShe did great. She cried a couple days, but mostly just at the beginning - had to peel her off of me and give her to Mark. Then she was fine. My advice would be to stay out of her eyesite. By the last day she was happily doing whatever he asked. Who's his partner?
wafflemouseIf you need to get a class together, I think Judi Duff is interested in lessons for Collin, and she has a pool.
wafflemouseSee my rooms for video
wafflemouseI don't have it. Check w/Melissa. She's the one that set it all up for us and I know she has his phone #.
sutherngirlAmanda just called. It sounds like Katelyn is warming up to her now.
lydiasmotheri would like to be included with Lydia if i can. Thank you!
lydiasmotheryes the swim lessons--LOL. thanks so much!!! do you have ball park cost? thanks
mindersHey! Of course I remember you! Yeah, my dad is preaching in Washington now, and now that I am done with school I am thinking of settling down up there again. Guess I will have to wait and see what pans out!
lydiasmotherit is just a week? cool beans, and they are learning what they need in one week? wow such different then when i used to teach when i was in high school, she will do better if i don't teach her but I have taught her some. I sure hope that I can join. thanks keep me posted.
beckypertOK, I am trying to figure out who you are. You have both my girls on your list. Dawn and Cindy. Who are you? :)
ex_patwww.morriscookbook.com click on the right side of page on "typensave", and enter your recipe online. Sign in with: fcparents and use the password 4zyrt Please send this information to all you can think of. Thanks! (I'm just sending it to everyone in the group. Do you have Connie's recipes?)
ex_patAre you planning on getting with Mr. Walker about getting an ad in the next FC Magazine. He said he though it was possible since it was for the college.
ex_patIf you can email some of us the flier, we can send it by email to some of our non-pleo friends. Thanks.
mjintexasHey, just wanted to let you know that the 20 min challenge started Aug. 1st so the group is closed. Thanks for your interest though!
ex_patI did send it to you a long time ago. See above^. Ralph told me since it was a fundraiser for FC he though there would be no problem getting it in the November magazine. I don't know the date it has to be in by. Also Sheena will get with some of the students and get fliers and all out to them. Thanks.
LizWilcoxI think it's time for a new blog with LOTS of pictures of your girls!
ex_patDo you attend TT? If so can you get some recipes from Peggy Watson. She was my Homemaking teacher at FC and it would be nice to have some of her recipes. Thanks.

Going to Cali!! 05-03-08 12:11am EST
I am so excited to get to go to California with my family. It's been while since we've seen everyone. Some of my family haven't even seen Kasey, yet, so it'll be neat to be out there. We're looking forward to the family (of course), the weather, mountains, oceans with waves, Del Taco, Claim Jumper, In-N-Out, Carl's Jr., and donuts. I haven't done the Hollywood thing since I was like 10 years old, so I think we're going to do that, too. Only thing I'm nervous about is the plane trip. Katelyn will be fine, but Kasey is a bit active (6 months old). Any suggestions on keeping a baby happy/sedated :) for a LONG flight? One other question--what do you think of when you think of California? I'm very curious. I think of "home."
(33 older comments)
ticketscool thought!
sjbYes, Carol is Gilbert's daughter (I think). The Kilgo's are definitely in her line. My grandfather was Gilbert's baby brother.
globetrotterHi Becci! I remember you. Thanks for adding me. I have actually seen your name on a few lists and wasn't sure who belonged to the name.
globetrotteroh, and yes, I would love to start a left-handers store. The only good one I know of is in the UK, and with exchange rates what they are right now, it's not affordable to order from them.
missysnappI can't find mine anymore. can you just summarize for me? :) What do I need to know...?
joes_wifeI think of Disneyland, Huntington Library, wonderful weather and the "home" of my childhood. I was there from two years old to 11. I love the "smell" of California :)

Are you back yet?
joes_wifeVery Cool. I have been missing S. CA a lot lately. I hope to visit someday in the near future. I would love to take the kids.
isabeau_danjouWow, Becci. I hadn't really thought about that much. There has to be something we could do together...let me talk to Brian and see if he has ideas.
isabeau_danjouOH...and we're friends now. :)
isabeau_danjousounds great. this might be a good thing to do after Brian and I get back from our trip (Lauren and David are here this weekend, so that's pretty much shot). Unless we wanted to grab lunch or something one day next week. Your thoughts?
flychicI see we have some of the same friends. My name is Brittney Miller. Of course you can join us! Looking forward to it :)
isabeau_danjouWe are going up to Bowling Green for a wedding, leaving next Friday evening. Let's plan on getting together sometime this coming week in the evening. Maybe grab some Starbucks or something. This is kind of exciting!
wafflemouseI answered your ? on my page, since others have asked the same.
katie08Thank you, you have no idea how much that means. :) Yes, I'm going to fc lol...i am definitely very excited.
sutherngirlThanks! I'm not one to do much celebrating. I'd rather she would be happy spending time with Alan.
She called this morning and they both wished me happy birthday.
flychicGo Here to join the group if you are interested.
mritchie47BRING ME BACK A BURGER AND SHAKE!!!! I'd kill to walk along Laguna Beach right now...
mritchie47I miss it A LOT sometimes. I'm totally happy with the people I've met and grown close to in Tampa, though. You just can't beat Cali weather, and I hate being so far from the family sometimes.
tomatoheadSorry, I haven't been checking this very much lately...But we saw that same bum! yeah, he wasn't getting any money from me, thats for sure. But yes, Yosemite was great and San Fran too.
kristiegoreI think of awesome mexican food, best fish tacos ever and In-N-Out's amazing burgers...can you tell I like food:) Also, amazing weather and great waves.
green_gourmetI keep laughing thinking of your first labor(You've got to be kidding! It can't get worse than THIS!!!)! Loved it.
mel_odyI think of surfers - not really sure why! Hope you have a good trip and the flight goes well with the kids!
katie08I know what you mean. Molly doesn't have any friends from church at king and i feel so sorry for her. I really have been so lucky. Graduation tonight was honestly one of the funnest nights of my life, I never thought it would be so FUN lol! It was definitely very emotional too though...I just had a great high school experience overall. I'm just lucky.
ex_patCan you get Connie's recipies for the cookbook. I know I could get them from Mom but this would be easier as she doesn't use email. Also is the other booster club doing a cookbook?
hoosierbybirthHi, we're moving to Crawfordsville. My husband will be working with the Southside congregation. He trained to preach with the 10th Street congregation (Lakeview now). I also have family that lives in the Indy area, they worship with Danville.
