WOW!! Wreck'em Tech!!! That was probably the most exciting game I will ever experience. I rushed the field for the first time, but don't worry, I waited until the game was actually over. Sheesh. It was techs 500th win in university history and our first win on a number 1 ranked team. Bring it on, OK state!
Life has been grand! I have wonderful people in my life that help me grow into a better Christian. I am so lucky to have so many amazing Christian friends. I know not every college kid can say that, I hope I don't ever take that for granted.
Nursing school is going well, I'm finally getting used to the constant stress and lack of sleep so that's a good sign I guess.
Thanksgiving break is in 3 weeks! I can't wait to go home and be with my family!!! Then I just have school for a week and then I'm done til January! Yipee!
I hope everyone else is doing fabulously! Sorry again to all you texas fans... but not really THAT sorry... :)
Milo finally decided on a career, can you guess...........yep, he wants to be a nurse! So funny, anyway I do believe Tas and I cried at the end of that game..... :)
no. but i called your mom and talked to her about it. i haven't called her back yet. john is off and we don't mind going there. i thought it might be easier for you guys this one year to just go home instead of traveling again once you got home. but we are open for either. we are ok with going to grandma's too.
Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.
Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret, with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.
Set yourself apart this week. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2. It should be obvious that we're children of God. So take time from your day to be holy, say a prayer, read a passage of scripture, sing a hymn. It makes a difference!
We don't know that yet!! Don't get too excited. :( ALTHOUGH. I hopefully got a new job. I had an interview at World Market yesterday that went really well. Now I just need him to call me today and ask me to work there. But he said he can pay me $8.50/hr. Which means... money to come see Megan, hopefully. :)
I've never really payed attention to the words of that song, but when it was mentioned in a lesson last Sunday night, I realized how awesome the words are. We all get to a point where we feel like our struggles and toils are unbearable, but if remember that just a glimpse, just one moment of seeing God in all of his glory will make all of our trials worth it, how much easier will it be? How often do we get so caught up in the sorrows or stumblings in our own lives and forget that no matter how hard things get, we always have something to rejoice in; that we are children of God! How can we think of that and not smile?? Last night at Bible study, my friend said that God doesn't always give us the ability to overcome our trials on our own, but he does give us the ability to trust in him and to have faith that with him on our side, we can get through anything. I've never really thought of it like that and I think it's a really good way to approach any obstacle that we are to overcome. So in whatever trouble you are having, know that you aren't expected to get through it on your own, but use the gift of trust that God has given you to let him comfort and strengthen you.
With that being said, please pray for the congregations in Peru. The Bible study was at the O'Banion's house (our preacher and the one who I got to accompany to Peru) and he was able to call David, the preacher in Paita, while we were there. Me and the two other girls who went to Peru got to talk a little bit to his daughter, Marilyn who is 13. She is an amazing young girl, very wise for her age and a great example to me even though she is so much younger. We only got to say a few things (mostly because we weren't prepared and I can't just speak Spanish from the top of my head!) but it is so amazing to know that half way around the world, there are people worshiping the same God we are. Please pray that their effort continue to be fruitful and that Kevan's trip in November is successful.
Nursing school is overwhelming but also really interesting and fun. Today I got to learn how to give injections, so if you need a TB test or an insulin injection, let me know...
Or college group is absolutely awesome this year! We have so many new faces and everyone brings something new to the group. I leave Bible study and church being so uplifted and encouraged, I am so thankful that God has placed me in such a loving environment!
I guess that's it on the update! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week and for all of you in the path of Ike, you have my prayers!!
hey! i had a great time evacuating to your mom and dad's house. and your post made me remember when i learned to do injections. ick. but that part got easier. what i really really really hated was learning to draw blood. i know you will be great at all of it though.

And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Luke 12:15
I read this verse last night and it really struck me. We've all heard that we should store up for ourselves treasure in Heaven and not on earth, but I really like how this verse says it. So many people measure their accomplishments by what they aquire, or if they have the lastest gadget, or how many square feet their house is. But really, our lives are measured by the good we can do for others, and the experiences we have that change our lives. It's how we use the challenges and obstacles that are given to us to better ourselves and to make God proud with the way we use our talents. Our number one goal in life should be making God happy, not getting a good paying job, not to start a family, even though those are important, our focus needs to be in the right place, on pleasing God. So, have you made God smile today?
seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you! Thank you for the encouraging words on my blog! I love your baby sister!
It's 12:05 a.m. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Sniff... and now I only have one teenager left... HAVE A FUN DAY! I hope you have a fabulous cookout and that Tech WINS!
