We left around 6pm Christmas evening, it was quite a long trek, with some very tense driving time through construction and fog..but through many prayers we arrived safely in Temple Terrace around 9am this morning. At times I questioned my sanity to attempt such a challenge...but two sleeping babies, one empty I-95S (imagine traveling with NO TRAFFIC), and a dutiful coffee dispensing husband we managed the challenge together.
We brought in the boys stuff, changed them into clothes, and like two fools crashed into one comfy bed. The grandparents, great-grandparents, and one loving aunt took the two boys on their own adventure...to Chuck E. Cheese. They were quite happy to run wild after the fifteen hours and we were quite happy for the peaceful sleep.
David and I unloaded all the gear (included two aquired frogs in PA), then ran out to Walmart to buy organizational things. We came back..I went to it...unpacking like a crazy woman...much to the dismay of one three year old who was quite anxious about open presents..but was told he had to wait for his Mommy (not by me...I realize be obsessvie compulsive disorder is my own shortcoming). Anywho..the dutiful grandparents once again came to the rescue and provided dinner to the young one..which was just enough time for me to complete the unpacking and make us completely settled in our new home. We then opened presents and enjoyed the company of family.
We are about to head to bed. It has been a LONG day.
Well...we had a wonderful Christmas here in PA. We really enjoyed the time we had to spend with family and friends!! We were especially thankful that David/Daddy got to spend Christmas with us. Ramon was delighted he received many Thomas Trains and friends. Charlie was more excited about the paper...but hey...what kid isn't at his age. David suprised me with the wonderful gift of a Spa Day and a Day at Disney once we arrived in Florida. I am really excited about.
We are leaving in just a couple hours to drive the 16 hours to Florida. We have the car all packed and very excited about our new adventure. However, we are sad to leave behind many beloved friends and family. Please pray for our safe travel.
Well...everything is set...(it looks like) I try to keep an open mind with the army. I ran around this morning to get our POV packet filled out, notorized, and fax back to the FS. *sigh* I got the oil and tires checked at the car dealership, my trip trik printed from AAA, made my hotel reservations, and did the laundry. NOw I just need to stop by Walmart to pickup my travel food items (twizzlers and mountain dew) and pack. Everything looks clear to go...but somehow I waiting for the "other shoe to drop." Is that how that saying goes?
So...I will be traveling the ten hours alone to Georgia while the boys stay in PA with my Mom and Dad. I am staying overnight in Augusta and picking David up early Wednesday morning...so, hopefully we will be back in PA in time to worship with the brethern Wednesday evening. I am so excited to have two whole weeks with my husband. Yippee!!
So yesterday, I was sitting around sick and fairly melancholy because David's leave packet had not been approved for Exodus (Army lingo for holiday break). Well...he calls me this morning saying the packet had been approved and we just needed to figure out how to get him on the 17th. So come Monday morning I will be running receiving our POV packet, filling it out, getting it notorized (are you serious, yep), and faxing it back down to Georgia. SWEET. Providing all goes well, and I am praying it does, I will be leaving the 16th to pick up David. I know the Lord is answering prayers on this one because I was certainly praying for David to come home.
Anyway...David will have leave until January 3rd so of course we will also be making a trip down to Florida to see his parents. And through much prayer and discussion with my parents, David, and my in-laws, we decided it would be a good time for us to go ahead and move back down to Florida for the remainder of David's training. So sadly, we will be saying Good-bye to our Gettysburg Family but I am looking forward to time with my sisternlaw, mothernlaw, fathernlaw, and friends back in FL AND lets be honest...the beautiful Florida weather.
So, thank you all for your prayers on our family's behalf...please continue to pray for our safe travels throughout the holidays. We will be leaving the evening of the 25th to had down to Florida.
