Parade of Lights 12-01-08 01:58pm CST
I will be driving one of the trucks in this parade.

Parade of Lights illuminates Historic Downtown Grapevine
December 4, 2008
7:00 PM
Thousands of merrymakers will witness an enchanting display of more than 100 colorfully lighted floats that will pass through Historic Downtown Grapevine. Rolling to the tune of numerous marching bands playing holiday music, the Grapevine Parade of Lights is North Texas’ largest lighted Christmas parade. The parade starts at Main St. and Vine St. and heads north on Main St. to Wall St. The parade is free and open to the public

The price of gas 11-19-08 09:00am CST
We got our Suburban in January, for a variety of reasons. For instance, keeping all our camping gear out of the rain, accessing a little known spot to camp that necessitates a 4x4, and my Ford Ranger was too small to pull the boat. We bought used, so we wouldn't have any payments, but even so, I've become very adept at moderating my use of the accelerator pedal, lest I flush too much coin down the intake manifold. But, lately, I feel like I've been given a reprieve. Before, I would creep onto the freeway like a little old grandpa, but now, WOW!! I can accelerate!!! WOOOHOO!!! And it doesn't cost my firstborn, which is nice, since I'm kinda getting used to him being around.
larryI hear that. When I got my truck back in '04, it cost $40 to fill up. A few months ago it was costing over $90!!! The on board computer previously told me my city mpg was about 17.6 mpg. When it got to costing so much to fill up I tried to really change my driving habbits. Infact, the computer started to show over 18.5mpg in the city! Now that it only cost $45 or so, it's showing back to the high 16s, low 17s.
laughing_eyesLOL
marlaLOL! :) It amazes me that our gas was twice as much as it currently is...about 6 weeks ago. And we had a gas shortage for about two weeks.
bliss117Yes, and Wags the Dog and Dorothy the Dinosaur! Jealous?
bliss117With the money you're saving in gas, you can buy tickets to see The Wiggles too!!!
txbowlerWell, I got some new clothes today. We're getting a new president in 2 months. I'm getting married. And Tim and Amanda just had a baby. What's new with you?

Que?? 11-13-08 01:31pm CST
I pulled this from an article on Yahoo today.

"Some particles within the pollution cloud, such as soot, absorb sunlight and heat the air. That has led to a steady melting of the Himalayan glaciers, which are the source of most of the major rivers on the continent, the report said."

skip a couple of paragraphs

"At the same time, the brown clouds have also helped mask the full impact of global warming by helping to cool the earth's surface and tamp down rising temperatures by between 20 to 80 percent, the study said. That's because some of the particles that make up the clouds reflect sunlight and cool down the air."

beckydhmmm...??
jestersncourtWell, it makes perfect sense. That just proves that you don't know anything about Global Warming. I'm telling Al Gore...
laughing_eyesbizarre
txwhittlecNo, I saw it on the 30 somethings group. Pretty funny! Great picture! I loved the smurfs...wish they were still on. :)

Pop quiz time 11-11-08 03:28pm CST
This is an excavator about to be hauled out of our yard, here in Irving. What's wrong with this picture?

Maybe, this view will help. How many chains do you think it would take to keep this machine from falling off, going down the road?

Photobucket

Needless to say, we stopped this machine from leaving our yard on this truck. And the driver did not habla any English.

(Bonus point: How much carnage would 80,000 lbs of yellow iron cause, bouncing down the highway?)
txbowlerThere's not any minimum IQ requirements to drive a truck, eh?
markrobertsam impressed that someone drove that monster on the trailer without it falling off right there and then!
sclineWow! They did a horrible job getting it on the trailer! I can't believe it stayed on there!
ellwoodwdi could just see that falling from the top overpass of the high five.
boomomhey, i think that driver used to work for us! lol
dreamingofguitarsi don't know about the bonus but... i do know that that is the leagal amout of weight aloud for an 18 wheeler! soooo... at least a really big ticket!
txwhittlecno comprende.
