Wow - I cannot believe how long it has been since I have updated. Not too much has changed since the last update.
School is still going wonderfully. The "honeymoon" period has worn off and it has become more work-like. I bring home piles of stuff to work on every night, and some days are very stressful and overwhelming, but every morning I am ready to go back and give those kids the best I can. So I would say that it is still going well!
I am on Fall Break right now - I can't believe that I have already taught for 9 weeks. It went by so fast!! But I am definitely enjoying relaxing at home. :)
That is about all I can think of...
Although I don't update often, I still enjoy reading everyone's posts. Hope things are going well for you all!!
hey...I miss you and so does Micah!!! well at least I think that he does! I got to talk to Misty on Sunday night! that was good! When you get back we need to hang out...you need to stop neglecting me!!! hahaha. Love ya. Hope you are enjoying your fall break and you are coloring those leaves and pigs!!!
That was a short Honeymoon. Nathanael has been telling me about your life up there... I can't believe you are so adult now! More adult than me, I am still in school!
I am soo sorry, we do need to catch up, I am so behind on things now!!! sometime this week!!! we are going to go to Nashville tomorrow afternoon to meet up with Seth's fam for lunch. otherwise I would say tomorrow. Just call me or I will call you
Well I would update and tell you all about my crazy, busy life setting up a classroom, attending faculty meetings and going through a couple hours of Open House where I got to meet the students AND parents - but I don't want to bore you.
So I will just say that God has blessed me with a WONDERFUL school to work at, a TERRIFIC principal to work for, and an AMAZING team of 3rd grade teachers to work with!
I found a place to live in with absolutely no problems and am already living there!
My life is going better than I could have ever hoped for.
I am now, officially, a 3rd grade teacher at Alvaton Elementary School!!!!
I was walking out from my second interview (I was interviewed by six people!) and heading to my third when I heard someone say, "Ms. May?"
The principal was running out to my car to catch up with me. He said, "As soon as you walked out the door, I turned to the table and they all started saying 'Yes, Yes, Yes! Go get her before another school does!' So would you be interested in accepting the 3rd grade position?"
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
After I accepted, of course, I went back in to thank them and everyone started applauding and saying, "Welcome to Alvaton!"
I couldn't dream of a better welcoming to a school. It was perfect!
I am SOOO excited!! Although when I start to think about how school starts August 5, my excitement drops and the realization of just how much I have to do sets in.
Oh well, today I am just going to enjoy it! YAY!
God truly answers prayers - even prayers that you don't even know you are praying. AMAZING!
YYYYEEEESSSS!!!! I think you'll love Alvaton. I've only heard good things. Little do they know they are recieving a special and wonderful girl. CONGRATS!
see, there is a perfect place for you!!! You are going to do amazing things with those kids and they are so lucky to have you as a teacher!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to help you set up your classroom :) Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sooo happy for you! Thanks for informing me earlier! =) I'm soo happy for you! I called my mom to tell and she said "yeah, I'm happy for her! but I already knew, your sister told me" haha! news travels fast! love ya HB!
so Mindy...is life still pretty crazy for you?? Have you moved into the duplex yet?? I'm still really excited for you. I will have to find out how things go when you start school and everything. Miss hanging out with ya!
Um..so I've seen you now TWICE since you got hired...and have failed to give you a big hug and CONGRATULATE YOU in person!!! So...next time I see you, I owe ya one!! CONGRATS, Mindy!! :) :)
Congratulations on the new job Mindy, thats great news. i guess you'll be staying in KY then. i am sure your parents are sad but very happy about the job
you totally aced your practice interviews last night so i KNOW you'll do great! Besides, I'm sure you interviews are going to go way more smoothly then your interviews with two Ms. Kinser and Mr. Dickey. At least no one will be biting your foot! Hopefully.
So here I was, content to stay in Washington state and substitute for a year. I was going to get to know the schools and principals this way and then see if I could get a teaching job next year. I had given up all hope of teaching out in Bowling Green - until Monday morning.
Monday morning I received a call from the principal at the school where I did my student teaching. She wanted to know if I had been hired yet, was excited that I hadn't been yet, and now I have an interview at the school Tuesday morning.
Monday night I received 3 phone calls from a principal of another school. I didn't have my phone with me at the time and so he finally left a message with his cell phone number so I could call and set up an interview. Sadly he wanted to interview me before I was returning to Bowling Green...but he said he would call if they didn't find someone.
Wednesday afternoon I received a call from a principal at a school that I don't know ANYTHING about - and now I have an interview there early Monday morning. (8 AM - crazy!)
Thursday morning (today) I received a call from yet ANOTHER principal from a pretty decent school who wanted to know if I have been hired yet and wants to interview me Monday morning at 11 AM.
I cannot believe this! I am excited to have all these opportunities, but the nervous factor is pushing out all the excitement at this point!
The day after I completely gave up and decided to stay in Washington is the day that all of this began...God works in mysterious ways. I guess He waited until I realized I can't do it myself. He is an amazing God!
1,2,3 strikes...I'm out!
(And hopefully that won't be what I am saying next week with my 3 interviews!)
***UPDATE***
The principal that had called me 3 times Monday night (the one that I couldn't go to the interview because it was while I was still in WA) called me again this morning. Apparently they are still looking for somebody and so now he is interviewing me Monday morning at 9:30 AM!!
He wanted to interview me at 8 - but I already had an interview. Then he wanted to interview me at 10 - but that wouldn't have given me enough time to make it to my other one. So he decided 9:30 would be perfect. He apparently really wants to interview me! Yay!!
I can't believe this is happening to me! God is blessing me in so many ways!
To quote my brother, "Further Bulletins As Events Warrant" :)
I am feeling for you. I absolutely hate interviewing! Getting laid off twice in the last couple of years was pure torture for me. I was so sick of interviewing. So, just the mention of it turns my stomach.
That said, I am praying hard for you. Even though it was hard for me to go into those interviews over and over and over, I just kept trusting God that everything would work out for the best. Knowing that calmed me down... and it did - work out for the best.
That's awesome! Yeah, it was after I gave up and decided to take the job at a daycare (I was on the way to finish up my application) that I got the call for the high school position. :) Pretty cool. Good luck at the interviews!
Look at you miss interview queen! Well I sincerely hope one of these interviews works out! You will have to tell me how teacher interviews go since I almost went down that career path. See you soon...check your facebook (dang there are way too many internet social networks).
I am sooo excited for you!!!! Good luck with all the interviews...you will do amazing :) I hope that you get to stay..life isn't the same without you here! There is a school out there that will be perfect for you! Can't wait to see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you'll do great! we can hold practice interviews for you! can't wait to see you? is carli going to pick you up? she said something about it, but i didn't know if it was definite!
