Heard a sermon last night that I expect will change my life. It wasn't new information. It was just powerfully put. Over and over again, he made the point:
The God of Heaven has established His rule in such a way that prayers of believers can impact the decisions He makes.
Why, I have no idea. But my prayers are set up to make a difference. Do I believe this? Yes. Do I act like I believe it? Not really.
Everyone is running scared in our failing econonmy. Have I prayed about it DAILY? Have you?
The illustration was used of the persistent widow in Luke 18. A widow was used to illustrate total weakness and dependence. An unrighteous judge was used to illustrate the brick wall that widow was up against. This was a more extreme example than what we deal with. God is caring, giving us even more reason to never give up. The judge had no reason to care about the widow, yet she got her wish granted...by persistence. Asking. Asking again. Asking still again. Coming back to ask again. Oh look, there she is again. Asking again. The judge said yes, because she kept asking. And ONLY because she kept asking.
I'm not sure I've ever prayed about any one thing with that kind of persistence. But I've just begun. Starting last night.
And also, I'm doing laundry these days like it is my favorite thing in the world. Amazing how much more palatable it is to me when I think about it differently. It's not about me anymore. It's about the odd little boy who asks me for the gray socks with the words on the bottom. |

It is Week 3 of Brady being in pre-school. Many of you may remember our TRAIN WRECK of a pre-school attempt from last year. It was an obvious decision of take him out and let him chill at home. This year, I expected resistance to some degree. But instead of resistance, it's as if his body has been tuned to this school and just looking for his soul mate. He now prays for his school. "Dear God, thank you so much for my school." My personal belief is that it's the hand sanitizer. The kids have to sanitize before sitting down at their table. One morning last week, Brady's teacher stuck her head out while he was in the middle of this very lengthy process and said, "He likes to rub it ALL THE WAY in. Welcome to my world, Ms. Debbie.
Yesterday I picked up two extra kids to drop them at her. Everyone had a paper trail as we made our way to the car. Michael was carrying a bear that was chickenpoxed up with tissue paper decor. At the beginning of our journey it had 2 eyes and a mouth. Halfway to the car, Jessie (his sister) said, "Michael, did you lose your eyeball?" To this, Michael said, "No." But then he looked at me dubiously and said, "Did I lose my eyeball, Miss Missy?" The whole conversation was getting ridiculous. "Don't you think you would know it if you lost your eyeball?" I asked him. And at that, I saw no point in further discussion. But as it turns out, his sister was the smart one. Bear had lost an eye. In the parking lot. I gave it one reasonable glance, just to look good, and then told Michael there are good surgeons and glass eyes for times such as these. |

Hey.
We are hitting the monorail tomorrow and Downtown Disney. We have no intention of doing a park at this point in the summer with 4 kids, so we're doing this the free way. I know I can pay parking at the Magic Kingdom or Epcot and get on the monorail that way. Can I also park at one of the resort hotels, such as the Grand Floridian, and do the monorail? We kinda want to get off at some of the hotels and mill around. Not sure they allow that. It IS Disney and they DO own the free world...or most of central FL anyway.
If you have any tips, send them my way. |

Hey, y'all. It's been pointed out to me that I am older than dirt, though I will refrain from naming my accuser. :) Since I went to school with an older crowd (that means you are older than dirt, too, if you went during my years), let me point you to here so you can read what's up with Connie. If you knew her or know her now, please send something our way. This would help cheer her tremendously.
I'm just kidding about being older than dirt. I'm sure there are a lot of people on here looking forward to their 20th high school reunion next summer. Goodness. I don't think that fact helped my case any.
In other news, we've had more poop incidents than you could shake a single stick at this week, B set off the emergency alarm in Costco today and almost lost his mind, and all 6 of us took a walk tonight. The third item is likely the most notable.
Pictures to follow in a future post. |
