Not because we have all these material things. Not because we are "wealthy". But because we are free in this country to worship God without fear of death or terrible persecution. Do you know just how many countries this would not be possible. Do we really know how God has blessed us?
I read a novel not too long ago set in the time a few years after the death of Christ and the destruction of Jerusalem. The Christians were fed to the lions!! It was sport for the Romans. It made me stop and think ... would I stand up and declare I was a Christian if I knew that would be my fate? I like to think "Yes, of course I would!" ... but would I?
Let's just remember exactly WHO is in control. Let's not be discouraged. We must keep our heads up and teach the world what they may reject, but what is still the truth! They need to know about God and his love, but they also need to realize he is a God who will seek vengeance. And, he is in control, always!
OK, I'm trying to learn this thing ... but when you only get on once every six months, it's kind of difficult to remember.
YEA KU!! Won 52 to 21 ... sorry K-state.
I went to Lawrence and got to see my 2 middle boys this weekend. That was great! I hadn't seen Phillip and his wife, Lisa in a while. He is employed (he had quit his job a while back) and really likes it and is living in a really nice place. Lisa is in school, working to get her degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Washburn.
Jason is doing great. He's living in a really nice place and going to KU.
Shannon didn't come with me, but she's not a sports fan at all ... unless it's a good looking guy!! She stayed home and helped the Boyd's get their kitchen done.
Well, a lot has happened since July!! I can't remember everything, but ... My mom lost her dog, which had us all really worried, but she found her the next day.
My sister came over and clowned for the Race for the Cure. She and Shannon face painted. If I knew how, I would upload pics of that, but alas, I don't know how!!
We had a meeting at church that was great with Carl Heneke.
Then, as Shannon I'm sure talked about, we went to the Boyd farm and had a great weekend ... riding a tractor, bull dozer, four wheeler and kubota. It was perfect weather and we all just had great fun.
Then last weekend we went to the Ladies Bible study in KC ... put on by Keela from Hickman Mills. It was great. We learned how to be the "virtuous woman" from Proverbs 31. Everyone in the area should really consider going to the next one ... but it's not for 2 years!!
Now, I'm very worried with the election in just a week. I'm trying to leave it in God's hands and just trust him, but with the way this country is going, I'm afraid he just might let the wrong one win. EVERYONE, PLEASE BE SURE AND VOTE!!!
Oh, and Shannon and I have been pealing pears LIKE CRAZY. I never got so tired of pealing in my life. We have plenty of pears and pear sauce. And we tried some pear bread and all my co-workers said it was DELICIOUS!!
And, as Shannon said, she has kind of turned me a little green. I still don't buy into the whole "global warming" thing, but it can't hurt to take better care of our planet, as long as we don't go crazy!
That's OK, we missed a lot of people who were out of town, like Bob & Jean. Hope all is well with you and your family and I hope I'll see you next time, whenever that may be!
Reunion are always interesting. I enjoy being with my relatives. We haven't had a reunion in a few years. Next summer, my siblings and all our families are planning a Gatlinburg get-together. Should be fun.
Sorry it's been so long since I've logged on here!! I just don't seem to have time to do much of anything.
Jason got his wisdom teeth out today, so I'm home with him so I have time to put in an entry!
Things have been going along .... I will be SO GLAD if/when spring finally gets here!! It's warmer, but still has been chilly and not really WARM.
Cory came home for the weekend, so it was nice to see him. He is doing great at K-State.
Shannon is still going crazy over school. I will be so glad (as I know she will be too!) when she's done, except she tells me she's moving out of the great state of Kansas as soon as possible. All my dear friends need to talk her out of that and tell her she needs to stay close to mom.
I got to see Phillip and Lisa at Easter. They are still in married bliss, so that's a good thing!
That's about it for now, see why I don't get on here, nothing exciting in my life!!
I can't believe you updated... craziness! Lisa's going to the Renaissance festival with me... so I think you should go too. I'm also inviting other people too :p
hey, I thought you had forgotten about us. Hope Jason is feeling better soon! I don't think we will get a spring, we'll just go from winter straight into summer.
